I really wish I was on my able to use my laptop and post as I watch. Does anyone think that the Cathy and Joshua thing is very Chip and Ciji? I said it before but there is just no need for Cathy I hate that they did that. How Dynasty? I am really excited at seeing Vals babies story in full. I never totally saw it play out. I am watching Ipso Facto now, and just noticing how beautiful some of the music is. In season 5 too there were some gorgeous music scores. I would actually like them on my ipod.

I am loving season 6. Was just in tears. Val just had the twins and was told they were dead. I got goose bumps everytime Val said she heard them cry. Its all so dark and creepy. Much more than any other soap. I keep thinking LOST was influenced by Knots. Weird I know but they are so similar. They spikey creepy music in those Val related scenes. And how it can go from sweet or funny to chilling and unnerving. Its uncomfortable to watch sometimes. Who ever came up with the twins storyline was brilliant! Its brutal. Another horrific thing for Val to suffer through. Just heart breaking. And fantastic tv. Julie Harris and Joan Van Ark are so good in this season! They seemed to have stopped lillimae being just a dotty old lady and upped her game. Her scene in the hospital right after she findS out is so real. I have watched that scene a few times and its always brilliant and shocking. I am so glad to have this full season and fill in all the blanks. This is the first I have felt truly bad for Abby.

In some ways Cathy/Joshua is Ciji/Chip redux. I found Cathy's introductory story to be quite riveting but I do think they ran out of ideas for her as time went on.

They even have Cathy singing Hole in my heart. The Ciji song and befriending Laura. I love the last scene in 'we gather together' I think that's the episode title. Where Val and Gary enter Karens house for thanksgiving dinner. You can clearly see that Val has just lost the plot. It seems everyone can tell. The whole Verna Ellers thing I love. Its all just started but I watched it a few months back on RTE. Its probably my favourite knots story. The twins and Verna. I have a very bad cold right now so in bed all day. Think I'm going to leave u now and head back to knots landing.

On into season 6, I still don't like Abby. This has to be because I love Val. Lol. I don't get Abby's flirtation or interest with Joshusa. Is it just any man with a pulse? I actually like Verna and her Parker. I wish he hadn't ended up a bad guy. Even in an alternate life Val has to get screwed over. Cathy is just so unimportant she makes me feel that this season drags. Its so repeatitive.

I love the Galvastan character he's very strong. An instantly formed character. I'm enjoying seeing that all unfold. Karen becomes less annoying when its possible she could die. She no longer hads that piercing shrill voice. Its kinda like early Karen before all her Diana drama. I love that Diana is in newyork! Best place for her!

Laura has been side lined again and that sucks. She now deliver suitcases and sometimes has lunch and plays tennis. That's it. Shame because I found her facinating in the beginning. Sumner has been less involved and he's not such a nice guy. He's going to become very interesting I think.

Ok I'm off karens in surgery AGAIN!

Despite all the changes in "look" for the women of Knots in season 6, I thought that Karen got the worst wardrobe and style for most of that season. I am recalling this awful threaded blanket thing she was wearing in the Thanksgiving episode, also her hair was constantly put up. Travilla clearly was doing nothing good for her that year. It wasn't until the end of that season that she got a new fresh look for 85' with her hair down, once again, and a new cut as well as better wardrobe. I'm recalling how she looked in the scene when she discovered Dr. Ackerman while he was on the phone.

I kind of like Karens season 6 look. I like the suites and hair up. And karen hasn't been as annoying while working at lotus point. That kelly chick makes my skin crawl she's so ikky! I hate her and all her desperate stalking. Lol she's clearly filler. I like Ben Gibson. Doug Sheehan has that Jimmy Stewart, Carey Grant thing going on. Charming and handsome but a little awkward.

Travilla doesn't seem to have gone as crazy on knots. Dallas really got its image pimped. Does Travilla stick around for season 7 and 8. I can't wait for those seasons - have no idea what happens in them.

Travilla worked for Dallas and Knots (Fall 1984 - Spring 1986). I dont know who took over wardrobe after that but in season 8 the only big fail was ANYTHING Karen wore. They had her hair cut very short (which was partly per storyline) and had her in oversized horrible sweaters and sweatpants. Her worst look of the entire series. Laura looked her best in season 8 and early season 9

Ok so I like Karen again! Wonder how long this will last. Lol I like that she is devoted to finding out what happened to the twins. Galvastan is dead and Ava Gardner is Sumners mother! The plot thickens. She is fab!

Glad to hear I have Laura till season 9! I thought she left sooner.

Hee hee, I have to agree that the look was not her best, but from what I recall in the press at the time, it was ML's idea to get that short haircut. She got it during the hiatus and wore a wig for the opening parts of the kidnapping storyline, then wrote in that "shocking plot twist" of Phil forcing her to cut her hair. As for the oversized sweaters and sweatpants...I think ML gained some weight and they tried to disguise it the way a lot of women do. In the infamous "sweater stretching scene" with Val and Karen, the dialogue skirts the issue of ML/Karen having gained some weight in terms of how Karen was feeling insecure due to the presence of Anne.

I must say I loved Laura's hairstyle in season 8, though her maternity fashions were often terrible. I think the costumers didn't have a clue how to dress a pregnant woman.

I figured Michele Lee may have had a little weight gain but I really couldn't tell for sure. The only thing that confirms it is that infamous sweater stretching scene. Part of me also thought the brass had her dress like that specifically to give the image of "cul-de-sac housewife" vs. "international trust fund socialite" Anne Matheson. I did read that originally Anne was supposed to be on longer than she was but that her story was put on hold due to ML's demands that the show have one solid couple i.e. Mack and Karen.

So was Michele Lee kind of like Karen in real life? Frantic and bossy with a lot of demands?

I will probably be stoned to death in the Cul-de-sac for that.
I was watching a lot of season 6 late last night but I am sick and had a fever so I am going to have rewatch the last episode or two and see what was really going on. Its all kicked off with Karen and Lillimae going to speak to the nurse who delivered Val's twins. Sumner has given up the senate for being his much hated fathers replacement. I just don't quite understand that?

I must say I have been very shocked and surprised by Knots when watching it all in full. I have noticed flaws like the other soaps which I didn't expect. Namely Cathy and her whole story just after she is introduced. She is actually just playing the exact same part as Ciji. I have just realised that I never knew they were different characters untill I watched it all. Its so dumb.

Lillimae has went from a joke of a person to a real person but I still have problems with her becase she can be so condesending. Karen I loved then hated then like now. I really feel her character would have benifited from a few episodes off now and again. Theres just no need for the complete barrage of Karen. She could have taken a vacaction or went on an off screen business trip? Went to see Joe and Diana in New York? I would have missed her if she left once and a while.

I have been surprised at how much I hate Abby, shes really mean. There was lots of comparison with Alexis on DYNASTY and Abby. But I feel that Abby is much worse. I could totally understand why Alexis hated Krystle and envied all that she now had. I got why she would be bitchy to her. Why she hated Blake and why she always tried to buy her childrens love and affection or outdo Blake. But Abby up untill the twins storyline actually seems to hate Val. But why? She has nothing? Abby can not envy val for she has no opulant life. Alexis hated the idea of Krystle living at the mansion in the house that Blake had built for her. In Alexis' twisted logic Krystle had stolen her life. So she resented that. And she set out o make her life as unbearable as possible. Fair dos.

But why is Abby so hell bent on being bitchy to Val? Abby has already taken the only thing that ever meant anything to Val away from her. But she continues to be snide and bitchy. Even when Val is not doing anything. It's because Abby doesn't really love Gary and she knows that Val does. So maybe perhaps she thinks Gary will cotton on to this and leave her. I don't like the fact that Abby went after Gary, stole him and then continues to slut it around town with anything in pants. Knowing she caused Val to almost go nutts in the process. And I really think what she has been like with her kids is disgusting. I love that Olivia and Val are so close. I hope it stays that way all through Knots. Thats why Abby gets for playing Diana against Karen.

Another thing about Knots which has surprised me in a good way is how dark it is. It's very creepy and dark. Wolfbridge, Mark Saintclaire, Empire Valley, Scott Easten, Dr Akerman even the stuff around Sid's death in season 2 and 3. Thats really not your average soap opera fodder. It's a little slicker and much smarter than Dallas or Dynasty which just repeated take over plots and bullshit about oil and the south China seas.

I found all the Knots stuff deliciously creepy and fresh and I ate it up! Its great. I think I will finish season 6 tonight and tomorrow and then take a break. As I am off to Spain next week. And ill start season 7 after I get back.

Ben as Jimmy Stewart. I never thought of that but the comparison is apt. He wears a bit thin, though, after a while.

Yes, the Wolfbridge/St.Clair era was especially tingly. And made all the more so by the fact that KL had started off so normal and suburban; there was the feeling that this wasn't supposed to be happening.

I thought Doug Sheehan had a Jim Nabors way about himself, not only in looks, but sometimes in voice when he would inject some humor into a scene.

That name was familiar to me. But I had no idea who Jim Nabor was so I googled him. One of the lovers of Rock Hudson. I had read a book on Hudson a load of months back. I have never seen any of Nabors work but I think he looked a little like Sheehan.

Yes she was but then after that she just continues to play Ciji. I notice no difference she is even a singer. I would have bought it if say, Cathy was tone deaf and couldn't sing a note. And she was into something really different or was good at something else other than singing. Or if she had been a bitch or a nutjob. But no its just the same thing all the way through again. She was hired by Abby to be like Ciji. Only shes still like Ciji after thats all been found out.

Anyways I have watched another two episodes of season six. The last I watched was "Four No Trump" a very good episode. I Love the scene with Val and Karen after dinner. Where Val tells Karen she is not ok, that she is acting, acting the way people expect her to. Quite an emotional scene and very well done. It is intercut with Abby telling Sumner the whole story of how she was inadvertently responsible for Val's twins vanishing. Then in the last scene we Sumner outside the house where the twins are. Great stuff! I cant wait to get the next episode on.

I am also loving Laura and Ruth's little barbs and digs at eachother. Off to watch more.
