And the reasons that those storylines were good were because JR was willing to go against his mother(drilling on Southfork) or his whole family(mortgaging Southfork). Both were highly entertaining from the fallout they created. (I love that scene where JR finds out that the Asian Oil Wells came in and he comes home with the champagne but everyone is still peeved at him anyways.) But they also showed how little he cared about the Ranch, and as a result doesn't deserve it.

YES!!! That's exactly what I've been saying! The Asian Wells storyline showed once & for all exactly what JR did care about & what he didn't. No way in HELL should he ever have SF! Now if they want to mount a fight to retake Ewing Oil, I'd back him 500%. That should be JR's. He fought long enough & hard enough to have that. But Bobby should have SF period.

I think Sue Ellen should have it all for putting up with the Ewings all these years. On FB timeline, it states SUe Ellen came back to SF to care for Miss Ellie at the end maybe she got her to sign it all to her.

I don't think it's a question of whether JR deserves Southfork or not. It's not his. It belonged to his mother and to her family before that, and Miss Ellie, right or wrong, chose to give it to one son over the others. It's a gift. She could have just as easily given Bobby her father's old cowboy hat and JR would be whining that he wants it. Well, tough, she didn't give it to him, it's not his to take, and it never was his in the first place.

If any of the sons deserved the ranch, I would say it's Ray, who isn't even Miss Ellie's son.

I totally agree with you on this Tessie. My grandparents have greatly upset their sons right now because they are choosing to handle their estate in a way that their sons don't agree with. The sons don't seem to get the fact that it's their parents' choice & theirs alone. I think I'll enjoy this new show solely for the comparisons of my bio-dad & uncles to JR (which may also be why I wanna see Bobby kick the crap outta JR's @$$). And I also think that Ray should really be the one who ends up with SF, even though he's not a Southworth (though Miss Ellie more than once said he was like a son to her).

I'm not that cruel...killing the second - "over 60" - generation would be sufficient!

Maybe she (re-) marries him for the ranch in old Dallas tradition...

Yes I most definitely am. Though it's what attracted me to the original show back in the day as well LOL! And as for SE marrying JR to get her hands on the ranch, I think that's a hilariously great idea!
