Borgia VS The Borgias
I love historical drama like Rome, The Tudors and Camelot so I thought it would be nice to buy a dvd of this BORGIA story.
But which one is the best? Mixed reviews on IMDB, as usual.

I would hope that The Borgias would be the better of the two, more-so because I recently bought season 1.

I thought BORGIA was a completed mini-series but I just found out they're gonna make a second series too!
This is such a difficult choice

The Borgias is the Showtime series that I watch. It's awesome...like "Game of Thrones" AWESOME! I have NEVER been a Jeremy Iron's fan until this series came out and now I see what a great and sexy actor he is!
I am not familiar with "Borgia"...is this it..

I watched the European "BORGIA" mini-series on dvd.
I must say the production and cast looked very good, same quality as "Rome" for example.
The story itself...well let's say if you're not an expert on the subject then it's difficult to understand what exactly is going on.
First of all - I was bombarded with what seemed like a hundred of historical names (varying by first, middle or last name, to make it even more complex) and many of these people were related by marriage or the marriage of their cousin, sister etc.
It was hard to keep track of who was related to whom, which of them were enemies or allies (and this constantly changed from episode to episode, or even a few times within one episode).
I also never really understood the drive or goal or motivations of the characters. There were significant "jumps" from extremely religious to patriotic to downright selfish and greedy. And so I had to adjust myself to these characters over and over again.
And tonight I watched about half an hour of the other show "THE BORGIAS" on tv...and they used the dialogues to explain the story.
And guess what - that was stupid too!
So, I've totally had it with these f**king Borgias! And since the hottest guy on the show (Juan Borgia) has been killed off, I won't be watching any sequels.

Well...I agree Juan was hot..but incredibly annoying!
The second season basically consisted of Jeremy Iron's going to over-acting world every episode...but I still love him and will still watch this show!
I just hope he is not dead....
As far as the European Borgia...I haven't watched it and I doubt I will have access to it.

The borgias by far. Jeremy Irons is one of the most brilliant actors working today..his Pope Alexander is a tour deForce.

I have a problem with the way Cesare took out Juan!!! Very cowardly! Juan was high as a kite and unarmed with no backup like Cesare had! It would not have been near that easy in a fair fight! I realize that Juan was out of control and hated but I just would like to have see Cesare kill him in a FAIR fight!!!! Would love to see his ghost haunt his ass next season!

I have just started watching The Borgias and I love it. I only have season 1 an it has been a little hard to keep up a times but I just love Jeremy Irons. He is a great actor but I was so shocked at is age. I always thought he was so Hot! But then again I am thinking of him in things from the '80s an '90s. I watched him in the Brideshead Revisited he did in the '80s and fell in love with him. The Borgias is very good, glad I got it. The girl playing the Pope's daughter is meant to be 14 though and I have a feeling she is about 27!

I IMDb'd her. Her name is Holliday Grainger and she is 25 so I'm not far wrong. She is a good actress but she does not look 14 even if she plays a convincing child.

I just finished season 1 of The Borgias. It was a bit brilliant! But the ending felt rushed, I checked more up on IMDb and apparently Neil Jordan who wrote and produced it says they were to have a tenth episode but ran out of money. So had to change the ending a little. Not surprising it was a bit epic. All those sets and costumes and a fair bit of CGI. I wasn't aware of the history really and have no idea what to expect in season 2. Though I do look forward to seeing it. I ran through season 1 in just two days.

If some of you are watching the Borgias miniseries (the one without Jeremy Irons), you will be able to see what became of Anna Cellini, aka Spanish actress Assumpta Serna, who is playing here the same role than Joanne Whalley does in the other one. Both amazing, underrated actresses, by the way.

Juan was a villain but I agree that Cesare's killing of him was cowardly. I have no problem with him killing Juan but the way he did it.
