Default Corrie's Julie Goodyear for Celebrity Big Brother?

CORRIE’S legendary pint-puller Julie Goodyear is back on the box after signing up for the next Celebrity Big Brother.

The actress — who played The Street’s Bet Lynch — has trousered £300,000 to enter the famous house this summer.

Camp comedian Julian Clary is another big-money recruit, having been landed for £325,000.

Bosses hope feisty Julie, 70, will fill the role played by Denise Welch — herself an ex-Corrie star — on the last series of CBB

A show source said: “Julie may be getting on a bit but she’s certainly game for a laugh.

“Denise proved that the Corrie stars bring in a decent audience and don’t mind poking fun at themselves and having a laugh.
“Julie is keen as mustard to get in the house and is already talking about winning.”

Former Rovers Return favourite Julie is the latest star to sign for the Channel 5 show. Comic Julian has been brought on board for his controversial humour

Sounds good. She is a lot like Bet in real life.
My avatar is an autograph of Coronation Street's Philip Lowrie (Dennis Tanner, an original character) which he personalised for me.

I don't know much about Goodyear other than Bet and I'm a BB fan so this comes as great news for me.

I wonder why Julian Clary got £25.000 more than Julie.

I'm sure it'll be good for Julie's street cred. People who've never heard of her Corrie character will be now be aware of her, no doubt.

Yes. They're all going through the same process, with a view to achieving the same goal (on paper at least. We all know that motives will differ). So why not start on a level playing field. If it was a musical performance, or something that needed a particular skill, I can understand why some people's experience should get them a better wage. But not for what's being asked of them here.

A new CBB? I thought the last one would the be the last CBB ever?
Oh well, if the casting is good (famous celebrities) then I'll watch it on youtube.

I believe they've signed for another two maybe three year deal. Also I think we will have two celebrity versions each year, one in January and the other after the summer version.

So much for 'Queen of the Soaps' and 'it doesn't wash' that anyone else would beat her...ahem....

They should really have called it FIVE celebrities and a group of people nobody's ever heard of.

The only decent turns are queen of the soaps, Julie G; comedian, Julian Clary; and ex Eastenders stars, Cheryl Ferguson and Martin Kemp.

Colleen Nolan (yawn) is channel 5 really scraping the barrel IMO although I accept she could be loosely described as a celebrity, albeit a Z-lister.

As for the rest, I wouldn't recognise them if I fell over them in the street.

I hope either Julie or Julian wins it; so, I'm Team J

The house is perfectly poised; now let the bitching commence!!!!

More celebs in there than ever before. Still the usual Who T F are you's and the token kiss n tell girl but still a good turn out.

Seems Martin Kemp is the clear favourite, no surprise there. Loving Julian Clary though!! Heard him chatting to the Italian prince and told him that he had a nice "ring" The price took Julians hand and enquired as to its whereabouts! LMAO!

Some of the z listers and no marks in there make Frankie Cocozza look like Hollywood royalty.

Loved the fake argument last night between Julie & Cheryl.

Julie Goodyear is probably my fave BB housemate. Lets hope afterwards her next role is another stint back in Corrie, of which she first appeared in 1966. I'd love to see Bet back.

I'm not sure how or where Julie would slot back into Corrie.

She's looking quite old now so I couldn't really envisage her resuming her place behind the bar at the Rovers.

Also, I notice that Julie has a Bet Lynch style cigarette holder and leopard print handbag in real life too

It said in the Daily Star that Ms Goodyear is 70 years old?
When I watched Corrie as a Teenager, she was 2 Days older than God then, and I'm 54 now...................surely she must be older than that!!

The face to face nominations was good fun to watch. I think this the first CBB worth watching in a long time.

Yep, hopefully tensions will start to bubble over in the house now that the face to face nominations have taken place.

Colleen, in particular, didn't seem to take it very well after receiving two nominations and Martin Kemp look a little wild eyed and annoyed after receiving just a single vote.

Also, I think Julie Goodyear may have a bit of a game plan in nominating Colleeen to face the public vote because whilst Colleen is not my cup of tea she does have a large fan following having finished 3rd when she competed in ITV's Dancing on Ice and could be considered a realistic contender for the crown.

And saying she was nominating her so she could spend more time with her family was a little lame as well I thought. After all, it's not as if Colleen's offspring are toddlers or babies. I think most of them are grown ups now.
