Episode 4 MAJOR spoilers so dont read if you want to be surprised!!!
Episode 4 but it centers on what is supposed to be the last Ewing BBQ before they leave the now sold Southfork. Lucy and Ray again have brief cameos together. Basically nothing but window dressing with a line or two. Kind of disappointing. Cliff is also prominent in the episode and gets together for lunch with Sue Ellen, which does not sit well with JR, who shows up at her office as they are getting ready to leave.
Here is the full synopsis of Episode 4, “The Last Hurrah,” which airs June 27.
We get "previously on Dallas" and then the episode opens with Christopher in bed getting it on with... ELENA, who was engaged to before he married Rebecca!! Whoa!! Suddenly, Christopher awakes from what was a dream and Rebecca is asleep next to him!! (This dream thing, apparently runs in the family).
Next John Ross gets a call from Marta Del Sol, whose family owns the conservancy/scam that is supposed to buy Southfork from Bobby (and sell it to JR/John Ross). John Ross ignores the call and JR is arriving at his place. JR has news for John Ross on how they can get to lawyer Mitch Lobell, whom they are trying to blackmail so he wont tell Bobby about the scam to get Southfork. JR's PI has uncovered that he is a former drug addict with two strikes on his record. One more and he goes to jail. So they need evidence to threaten the son and use that against Lobell. They are going to set the son up. JR suggests John Ross gets Marta to help. John Ross, who has been involved with Marta, says no. JR says find someone else he can trust to use in the plan to set the son up and fast. JR picks up the old 10 gallon hat and leaves.
John Ross then calls Rebecca. Says they need to have a little talk about the email she sent to Christopher that broke him and Elena up. Dramatic music and then the opening credits.
Credits over and JR is meeting with his PI. He gives him a folder with the info he has wanted on Marta Del Sol. Turns out her real name is Veronica Martinez. The dossier says she is bi-polar and has been arrested twice for stalking ex-boyfriends. JR says to the PI that now that John Ross has gotten Bobby to sign over the ranch to the Del Sol conservancy that it is time for him to claim his birth right. JR tells the PI that John Ross and Marta are involved but that John Ross only has eyes for Elena Ramos. PI asks what he wants him to do? JR says, "What do you think?"
Ann in at Southfork packing boxes. Tommy (Rebecca's brother) shows up. He thanks her for having him there. They discuss the planning of the goodbye Southfork BBQ. Christopher shows up. They sit down for breakfast. Bobby then shows up, they discuss the upcoming BBQ. They need to decide what they will take to the new condo, Ann tells Bobby. Elena arrives. She has news for Christopher about bids that have come in to test his new methane alternative energy project. Rebecca shows up at breakfast and she seems put off by the closeness of Chris and Elena and bails out quickly. Bobby and Tommy notice. Tommy comments that Rebecca is probably just freaked out because she is busy studying for the bar exam. Christopher also excuses himself, some fence needs to be fixed. Ann asks Bobby to help her in the study with some of Jock's things. Bobby says later, Chris needs his help.
Cut to Sue Ellen's office. JR shows up, says he wants to drop off a good luck charm for her upcoming campaign. He has found Miss Ellie's pearls when packing up Southfork and gives them to her. Suddenly Cliff walks in. "What do we have here? An angel talking to the devil," he says.
JR asks Sue Ellen what he's doing there. Sue Ellen says, not that it's his business, but they are going out to lunch together as long as he is in town because she needs some political advice. They exchange some words, typical hilarious threats. Cliff says when JR has "several billion dollars" like he does, JR can do what he wants. He and Sue Ellen walk out. "Are you really going to break bread with this low life," JR asks her. She says he lost his right to have a say with whom she lunches a long time ago.
Cut to what looks like an abandoned warehouse area. John Ross is there when Rebecca shows up. She denies knowing about any email. John Ross shows her a copy of it, says it was traced to her IP address and says she did it and broke up Chris and Elena. She denies it. John Ross threatens to tell Christopher. John Ross says he needs her to do something for him. He shows her pix of the drug addict son of Lobell. He says he needs her to get photos of him doing drugs. How does he expect her to do that? "Now Rebecca, you strike me as a very resourceful woman, I'm sure you'll figure that out," John Ross says. He says once she does he will let her get away "with whatever scam you're trying to pull on my dim-witted cousin." She takes the pix, puts them in her bag, John Ross turns to leave and we get dramatic music and a commercial break.
We are back from commercial. John Ross is along having a beer at a bar that afternoon when Elena walks in. He's snippy with her, she says she is there on business. He says their business ended when she stopped trusting him. She still could use his help. She says she found an old stripper well on Miss Henderson's property. She says if she can deepen it a little she can hit another oil reservoir. Miss Henderson wont hear her out, but she might listen to John Ross, who is better with people than she is. She said it will help him get over not being able to drill on Southfork. He pays his tab and says he always liked Miss Henderson and they leave. JR's PI is there paying attention.
Bobby and Christopher are fixing Southfork fences. Bobby asks if everything is OK between him and Rebecca. That is must be tough having his new wife and ex around together. Bobby explains that when he and Ann got married that Ann "was pretty insecure about your mother." A ranch hand drives up in a Southfork pickup and tells Bobby a cow is in trouble and Bobby says he'll go with him up to the barn to help.
John Ross and Elena arrive at Miss Henderson's place. He introduces himself. She says last time she saw him she was chasing him away after he tipped over her cattle. He flirts with the old lady a little and asks for 10 minutes. "You got your daddy's charm," she says to him. "Let's hope you didn’t get his morals. Come on in."
Scene shifts to the well where John Ross tells Elena he knew Miss Henderson would be no problem. Elena estimates they need to drill 2,000 feet more for the next productive zone. John Ross says it'll take maybe a week. She says she needs to give Sue Ellen an estimate on how much it will take to hire a crew and asks him to come with her to see Sue Ellen. "Can't guarantee it will be cordial," he says. He starts to goof with her, sprays a hose at her twice. They ultimately embrace and nearly kiss, all the while JR's PI is taking pictures of them. PI (whose name is Bum) calls JR and says he finally got something good on his boy. Cue dramatic music, another commercial break.
We are back and Rebecca is in Sue Ellen's office telling her they need $75K for the crew for about a five-day project of drilling. She says no problem. Sue Ellen then calls John Ross into her private office. They talk, she mentions she heard that John Ross was back hanging out with JR. "You jealous, mother?" he asks. Sue Ellen: "No, just concerned." She wants to know if he thinks JR has really changed. John Ross says all he knows is that JR is teaching him about the oil business like he always promised he would. He leaves. Sue Ellen picks up the box of Miss Ellie's pearls and opens them to look at them.
Now we move to Southfork. Awesome aerial shot of the ranch. Christopher shows up at the barn to help Bobby with the distressed pregnant cow. Chris and Bobby have a heart to heart. Chris admits he has is distressed by the whole Rebecca-Elena thing. He says a few years ago he and Elena decided to elope. The night they were going to go she never showed up. He says the night before he and Rebecca got married (in a previous episode) he found out what really happened -- that Elena got an email that night supposedly from him breaking up with her. He tells Bobby that it was John Ross who hacked into his account and sent the email that broke him and Elena up. "Does Elena know that you didn’t send the email," Bobby asks. "She does now," Chris says. Bobby says he must be going through hell. Chris says he loves Rebecca but cant stop thinking about what could have been with Elena now that he found out what happened. Bobby says he must make a choice. Chris doesn’t know what to do. And now it is time to help the distressed cow!
Rebecca is alone in her room. She is looking at pix of Lobell's son, at her wedding photo and trying to decide what to do. We cut to a scene of the son leading a substance abuse meeting that is ending. She approaches him and tells him how great of a meeting it was. But would he go with her somewhere to talk about her problem. He agrees.
JR and PR Bum are together looking at the pix of John Ross and Elena. JR says he needs to get Marta upset and that maybe Elena will invite John Ross to go to Bobby's Southfork BBQ.
John Ross drives Elena home, she thanks him for his help today on the Henderson deal. He says he should be mad at her for not believing him about the email but that today felt good. "If I agree to go back in business with you what about us," John Ross asks. "One step at a time," she says and she gets out of the car after kissing him on the cheek.
John Ross arrives back at his apartment and Marta Del Sol is there asking where he has been. Says he lost track of time at the bar drinking with some buddies. She is not happy. Thought they had a date. She kisses him, says she forgives him but it's creepy. She is bad news.
Rebecca and Lobell's son are now in some parking lot in the car. Rebecca says she wants to get high with him tonight. He says it's not the right thing. Back and forth they go. She says she will go to treatment tomorrow. He's been there and wont partake, he's clean finally. He says he wont mess up and let down his lady, and shows her a picture. Rebecca says she thinks he has changed her mind. She exits the car and walks toward hers. Dramatic music, next commercial break.
We are back from break and Rebecca arrives home to find Tommy on Christopher’s computer in their room. He is pissed she never installed the tracking device on his laptop. They argue. He leaves.
It's late but Neiman Marcus has opened up late just so Marta can shop with John Ross. She wants to buy him a watch, which he tries on but excuses himself to take a call from Rebecca, who tells him she couldn't get Lobell's son to do drugs. She says he has a life and it's wrong. John Ross doesn't give a shit. Tells her to get it done by tomorrow afternoon or Christopher will find out she sent the email that broke him and Elena up. John Ross tells Marta what is going and she says she will help. He tells her Lobell's son is a drug addict with two strikes and they need pix of him doing drugs for leverage against Lobell. She says she will get it done. (This story reminds me of Walt Driscoll's wife being set up, by the way). She says she will take care of it in the morning and then he should come by in the afternoon so they can celebrate, she says stroking his neck. "This time, don’t be late," she tells him.
Bobby and Chris are with the distressed cow. They will need to deliver the calk but put the mother down.
It's breakfast at Southfork and JR comes to the kitchen, where Elena is eating. She tells him she and John Ross are working together again. JR says it is a shame things between she and John Ross hadn’t worked out and that he had had a crush on her since he was a little boy. He says Elena was the only one who could get John Ross to read. "He wouldn’t have finished a whole book if not for you," he says. Elena responds that John Ross was dyslexic, not stupid.
JR suggests she invite John Ross to today's BBQ.
Sue Ellen arrives. She and JR sit in the dining room. She cant believe today is the last Southfork BBQ. He asks how her lunch was with Cliff and she says Cliff thinks she can win the election and has offered to fund her campaign. JR rips Cliff. Sue Ellen asks JR what is it that he wants from her? "A fresh start," he says.
"Cliff thinks you're still after Southfork," she says to him. He says if he is guilty of anything it is only looking out for John Ross' future.
"You have convinced John Ross of that but is it the truth," she asks. He says they were not the best parents and he is making it up to him.
Christopher and Bobby are releasing the newborn calf into a pen with another cow. Chris tells Bobby it was the right call to put the mother cow down to save calf. This paves the way for a talk about Christopher's adoption. He tells Bobby he still "has the book you and mom gave me when you told me I was adopted. It's all about how I should feel special because you chose me."
Bobby says it was the best day of his life. Shot of calf and new momma cow. Bobby tells Chris he knows he will do the right thing about Rebecca and Elena.
Christopher visits Elena, who is getting ready for the BBQ. He gives her a check for $20K and thanks her. It's payment for her help with his alternate energy plan so there is never a dispute about who owns what. She says she just did it to help. He wants a clean break. He tells her she is ambitious and "out to prove she is more than just the help's daughter."
He says he is protecting himself. She has already been in business with John Ross and tried to drill on Southfork behind Bobby's back. He walks out.
Another commercial break.
We are back and a wet John Ross in a towel hears his phone. It's a text from Elena inviting him to be her date to the BBQ. JR calls for an update from John Ross for an update on Lobell's son. He says he had Marta take care of it and he'll talk with Lobell first thing in the morning and get everything straight. Good news, daddy says. John Ross says he even scored an invite to the Southfork BBQ. They'll see each other there. JR wouldn’t miss it, he says.
Rebecca receives a text from John Ross telling her that he is coming to the BBQ. "You should've done what I asked," he writes.
Marta takes pills and a drink of wine when JR arrives, even though she is expecting John Ross. She says John Ross called to cancel plans but she was hoping he had a change of heart. JR says he didn’t think that would happen. He says he is sorry to be the bearer of bad news but his suspicions got the better of him and he shows Marta the pix of John Ross cavorting with Elena at the Henderson oil field yesterday afternoon, when John Ross had told her he was with his friends. JR tells Marta that wasn’t true and that John Ross was on his way to Southfork "to be with her right now." (Talking about Elena).
"I'm sorry, Marta. My boy was just using you," JR says. She says look what she did for his son and hands him pix of Lobell's son passed out in bed with a woman. JR says clearly John Ross did not appreciate her like he should. JR says they should get together and make a deal to try to get Southfork and the oil.
Cut to Southfork, where Ann is packing up boxes when Bobby shows up. She says she found Miss Ellie's silver. "There's just one thing left to do," Bobby says.
Cut to country music playing and the BBQ is under way. Lucy and Ray are walking together. Lucy says she can hardly remember half the parties she has been at here. Ray says it's because she spent half of them sneaking liquor from the bar. "Like you were such a saint all those years," she says. (So much for that cameo in this episode).
Bobby and Ann are greeting guests. Bobby grabs mic and thanks everyone for coming, says everyone invited has a connection to the ranch and the people who live there and it's difficult to say goodbye. This is not the end he says. The memories will last and they will take them wherever they go as they move on to their new beginning. Relax and celebrate Southfork he says.
Rebecca sees John Ross and rushes over to Christopher. "We need to talk," she says. Chris says, good but he wants to show her something first.
Now we see Lobell in his office upset. "No, Rick (his son) had cleaned up," he says as he is looking at the pix Marta got. JR is there saying it's shame. JR drops the hammer of the threat of the photos going to the cops as strike 3 for his son. Lobell says JR cant do that, Rick just got his life back and is going to get married. JR says Lobell will complete the transfer of Southfork without extorting another dime and that he wants the new deed redrawn. It's no longer a 50-50 split with John Ross. JR says the new deed should be 100 percent for JR.
"You're cutting him out of his own deal," Lobell asks.
"Southfork was meant to be mine from the beginning. And now, it finally will be," JR says (sly classic JR grin). "John Ross can wait his turn. I want those papers filed by morning. You got it?" JR gets up and walks out as Lobell is begging him to protect his son.
Christopher shows Rebecca the new calf and momma cow. He says he loves her and nothing will get in the way of that. What's wrong, he asks Rebecca. She says she has to tell him something and she is about to break down. Something "about the email Elena got two years ago. The one telling her you weren't showing up for the wedding." Dramatic music, cut to black. End episode 4.
Is Marta del Sol older? From pictures she looks around 40? She thinks John Ross wants her? He really is like his daddy!
I like this one, it sounds good. I know there are still some history things off like writing Elena into the past but on the whole it sounds good and entertaining. Everyone has something to do and I like how they worked in Cliff. I am feeling pretty good for the moment about the potential for this show, for all varieties of Dallas fans willing to give it a chance. Of course some of it seems familiar but when did Dallas not borrow from itself. We have seen blackmail like this several times before throughout the original show but it's ok, it's a Dallas tradition so why not.
So far this show sounds like it's going to be really good. I'm not sure how I feel about Bobby selling Southfork though.

I think that Jordana and Julie should be really upset that a cow giving birth makes Bobby and Christopher think of their characters.
If JR actually ended up with Southfork doing all this, I would find that interesting. If Bobby somehow confounds him at the last minute and keeps everything, it will just seem like a huge waste of time.
Agreed. JR needs to start winning again. Getting Southfork would be a nice start, given that he's basically been losing since 1986.

I´ll feel disappointed if they don´t show Darius in a cameo, or maybe his (or was it she?) grand-children...
Putting the mother cow down, bringing the newborn calf to another cow and then Chris talking about his own adoption. Great touch!
Take a look at my Albums for some great Dallas and Dynasty merchandise pictures!!
My guess is JR does win this one. Sets the show up classic style with Bobby and Chris as his main opponents. SF replaces Ewing Oil as the main target of acquisition.
Yes, if Bobby does defeat him, it would feel like an episode of "Dukes of Hazzard" with Boss Hogg and Roscoe foiled yet AGAIN by the Duke boys et all. Keep the drama going with JR and John Ross being two huge pricks in the Dallas tradition.
Just to point out, in the latest trailer, the first words uttered were the exact words above in bold. Nothing earth-shattering but interesting nonetheless and help put things in perspective.
