Episode Synopsis - Call Girl, a classic
One of my favorite season 1 episodes is Call Girl, where Pam makes and loses a friend all in 47 minutes.

We start off with Bobby and JR playing an intense game of racquetball. Bobby has sweated through his wifebeater and it's not really a sexy look. He knocks JR down and we are treated to a full view of Larry Hagman's junk. Short shorts need undies underneath, fyi.

Pam has a new friend! Her name is Leanne and she's a model at The Store. Liz looks a little peeved at Pam's enthusiasm for pinoirs (?).

Bobby meets up with sexy Ray and one of the Oak Ridge Boys and they discuss a recent cattle rustling problem. Meanwhile, JR meets with the ol' cartel to devise a plan to get Cliff Barnes out of the OLM. The problem with getting him out lies in the man who appointed him, Ben Maxwell. Seemingly untouchable. But not to JR!

LOL at Bobby's shirt. More appropriate for the disco than dinner at Southfork. JR looks ready to head out on the yacht.

JR plays racquetball with Ben Maxwell in an attempt to get his plan working. They see Pam at the club with Leanne. JR asks Ben if he wants some of that fine looking woman. Ben declines, saying he's happily married. JR giggles to himself.

Now we're inside Leanne's apartment. The most amazingly decorated apartment in Dallas history. A stuffed lion? Yes, Leanne displays it proudly like Miss Ellie displayed that ceramic dog. That wallpaper makes me want to retch. A knock at the door, guess who?! JR! He knows Leanne from her slut-for-hire days. I've watched it many times and I get the feeling that he paid for her services at one time, but it's not that clear.

He attempts to bribe her, and she rips up $500! You idiot.

Pam calls Bobby to tell her she's moving in with Leanne, he is not happy. JR calls his old friend Matt Henderson aka Wally "Butterscotch Crotch" Hampton and tells him to give Leanne aka Amber the "B" treatment.

Sue Ellen is drunk in her red robe. JR is not pleased that she missed dinner again. He grabs her and shoves her in front of the mirror. "Pretty ain't it, a lush, a TRAMP?!", he snarls.

Bobby and Ray hit up the local bars looking for info on the cattle rustlers. Predictably, they get into a fight trying to defend pretty boy Kit Mainwaring. I chose the least-manly caps from the fight. Ray grabs a stool as if to say "WHAT NOW, MOTHERS?!"

JR somehow gets into Leanne's apartment to greet her after her B treatment. He tells her that she has to set up Ben Maxwell using Pamela.

Bobby is busted up and tells everyone how he got into a fight. Jock says "DAMN, I wish I'd been there!". Kit Mainwaring stops by and Lucy can barely keep it in her pants.

The sting. Leanne meets Ben at the bar after the set-up by JR, who creepily looks through the shutters. HAHA. Leanne gets Ben drunk and opens the shades for the photographer. Pam is a really sound sleeper apparently. Leanne pushes Ben into Pam's bed to make it look like a little menage-a-trois action.

The picture ends up in the paper and Bobby immediately accuses JR of setting it up, knowing that Ben Maxwell was the one who put Cliff Barnes in office. He grabs him and punches him in the gut. Larry does his "surprised Major Nelson" face.

Bobby meets up with Pam, who is ashamed about the picture in the paper. Since he has a heart of gold, he trusts his wife and begs her to come home. They awkwardly kiss after she agrees.

Pam comes home and Lucy greets her like she's coming back from war. How long was she gone, two weeks? Sue Ellen is drunk as a skunk and tells Pam that she's a disgrace. Lulz.

JR is shocked that Pam is home again and that his little plan didn't work. Predictably, everyone laughs it off as just another one of JR's silly quirks.
Le Fin.

Wonderful!
I think you should start a thread on the merits of Julie Gray vs. Leanne's "single Dallas gal" apartments.
But I forgot why Pam wants to move in with Leanne?

Brilliant episode review! You have a real talent for grabbing the perfect screen captures!
So much good stuff going on in this episode
I hope I don't have a nightmare about Wally Hampton falling on top of me in bed with some other slutty chick and an old dude while JR spies creepily thru some shutters. Wow.

JR had some voyeuristic tendencies. He was always peeking through keyholes at someone.

Leanne should have stuck around. I think the writers missed a real opportunity there! Did anyone notice Leanne's expression when JR commented on the picture of her daughter? I would much rather have Leanne's daughter written as JR's than Vanessa and James in the later years. At least here you can tell there was history there.

I know, right?! It was an odd look for her to make. That's why I got the impression that he paid for her before. He never would have acknowledged that child.
Pam moves in with Leanne because she is living in a hotel after fighting with Bobby and she is lonely.

"Pretty ain't it? A lush, a tramp!"
That is where my forum name came from, by the way!
Even more evil, now that we know that she actually was pregnant with HIS child...
JR sure knows how to support his pregnant wife!

Ha Ha. Another one of his silly quirks! Indeed. Blame it on the self-contained episodes: Clean slate required...

Yes, that's what I thought! JR was strange as well, he knew exactly how old the child was and she gave him that funny look when he grabbed the picture...
