Apparently Englebert has one of the biggest fanbases (fanclubs) in the world, he owns a house in the Hollywood Hills, he doesnt need to do Eurovision, it needs him more than he needs it. There may be some method in the madness after all

Englebert sings the UK entry this year. What do you think, is it a hit or miss ??????

Sweden win this years Eurovision contest with an amazing and dramatic song called Euphoria, Russia was second and Serbia were third. The UK came 2nd last and Norway last. The songs were of a very high quality this year, but Sweden were a runaway success from the start of voting. Good to see Sweden win, they always try so hard and their songs are usually of a high standard. A well deserved win this year for the land of Abba

However, the song itself was too slow, not particularly memorable and the presentation as dull as dishwater. You really need to go with something upbeat, catchy or gimmicky for Eurovision and this wasn't it. Also, it can't particularly have helped being drawn first. Nobody will have remembered it by the end.

It sounded like a dirge. Although bad as he and the song was, nothing comes close to the utter ineptitude and freak show element of those two halfwits Jedward.

It was definitely one of the stronger tracks and you had a good singer who did it justice.
The only thing letting it down was a rather dull presentation IMO.
And I agree the UK entry was just not good enough. Simple as that.
At the end of the day though Eurovision is just a bit of fun anyway, not to be taken too seriously.

And being amongst the first on stage probably was a factor as well, for the UK entry.

I've seen his house - it's pink.

I think it was a good song, but the guitar made it a bit too "folk", too "small".
An ESC audience likes to be overwhelmed so I think a more dramatic and bombastic orchestration could have helped this song.
Harps, swirling violins and ta-da-daaam! drumrolls...that sort of stuff.
Not every ESC song has to be disco.
Just think of the songs by Vicky Leandros, simply the best entries ever IMO.

It was ghastly.
Deservedly second from last IMO

It seemed too old-fashioned considering all the modern stuff on offer (with the exception of the Russian grannies).

BTW Willie, I think your song could have made it into the final show, if the singer had not worn this "Indian hat". She has black hair, she should have done her hair in a Pocahontas braid style.
The song was good but that feather headdress..yikes.

Another theory to consider in terms of the results - Sweden are currently one of the few European countries who can afford to stage the contest in 2013. That was mentioned a couple of times.

Yes I think it was a good song and she has a great voice. However, her vocal performance in the semi-finale was disappointing.
They even commented on that on Dutch television. Nerves perhaps, I don't know.
But it was still better than, say, Jedward who basically repeated their act from last year. It wasn't only bad, it was bad AND un-original. They didn't even have the gimmick factor anymore.
Is this really the best Ireland has to offer?
