What is the quality, exactly?

I watched on CBS drama too and I thought that the quality was better than the episodes of DYNASTY I had watched. Somewhat sharper picture and colour. Not as hazy or glary as season 6 and it looked quite well.

But that doesn't "read" here. These stills are just meh.

And nothing ever looked as bad or as washed-out and splotchy as the original broadcast prints of late S6 thru early S8 of DYNASTY (which presumably is not the case on DVD).

Season 6 of DYNASTY sucks on DVD. I just watched season 7 DVD last night for the first time and its better. Though there have been 1 or 2 splotches pop up.

Hmmmm I would say that The Colbys was almost like season 9 of DYNASTY. I think It looks better because of the lighting. Being filmed at the Hilton mansion a lot of the time its not washed out and over lit like most of the Carrington mansion scenes. Also something about The Colbys which helps is that the set designers were not afraid to paint the sets in bold colours. Zac Powers apartment is a very deep blue which fills the sceen and makes you pay attention. Same with Titania Records offices. Bold noticable bright red. I am not saying that The Colbys looks anything like seaon 1 of DYNASTY on DVD but I was surprised how well the episodes did actully look. Like I say it might be to do with the lighting and being filmed in real houses, on better sets, and a lot of outdoor scenes. As opposed to DYNASTY which was all soft focus in bland cream pained rooms.

I love The Colbys! This series have a big potential but it was wasted by greedy creators and heads of ABC.
