Chapter 21

Sue Ellen, and JR finished dressing, and the three of them left the condo, and got to the Doctor's office. They went inside, and told the Secretary who they were, and she told them to have a seat, and they would be called in shortly. JR hated Doctor's, and Hospitals, and Sue Ellen could see he was not very comfortable. She reached over touching his hand, and he squeezed hers. It was 10 minutes later when they were called into the office, and they went inside. The Doctor talked to them at first, and he asked some questions, and they knew very little about Josh's life, and background. They explained they needed to know if JR was the Father, and they explained that Sue Ellen was not the Mother.

Dr. Adam's took them into the exam room, and told Josh to sit up on the table. He was checking him out, he than explained he needed some blood from him. He said it wouldn't hurt but he would feel a little prick but it would be over really quick. They got Josh ready, and Sue Ellen held his hand as the Doctor drew the blood. Josh was really brave, and Sue Ellen kissed his cheek after.

"OK JR your next". JR walked over getting on the table, he took his blood pressure, and smiled asking JR if he was nervous?

"Yes can we get this over with, I hate needles"

Josh walked over, "It doesn't hurt real bad, I will hold your hand". He reached over holding JR's hand as Dr. Adams took the blood. JR was looking at Josh, and at that moment he knew he felt it in his heart this child was his. He knew the results would prove it, but he got off the table, and asked when the results would be available"?

"Well I will rush them in, but I would say tomorrow morning, but if I get them back before I leave my office, I will call you tonight"

"Thanks call us anytime it is really important"

"Sure I hope things turn out the way you want Mr. Ewing". JR shook his hand, and Josh did exactly as JR did, and shook the Doctors hand.

"You are the bravest patient young man, I wish all my patients were as brave as you"

Josh smiled, and Sue Ellen thanked the Doctor, and they left the office. They were walking to the car, JR opened the back door, and Josh got in, and JR shut the door. He turned to Sue Ellen, and she smiled as she went to get in the passenger side door.

"Sue Ellen"

"Yes JR"

"I think he is my son, I can't explain it but I feel it in my sole"

"JR it is the test, and everything that happened the last few days. We will find out tomorrow, lets go, and get something to eat"

"Sue Ellen maybe we should bring him to Southfork tonight, I don't want to hide out at the Condo, I want the family to meet him"

"JR you said not until we know the truth"

"I know but I want to do this but if you think John Ross will be upset we will wait"

"I don't know what to say to John Ross but I think bringing him to Southfork would be OK, but what if he isn't yours"?

"Than we will have to tell Ray, but if he is tell me again that you will not hold it against me. We will raise him together or until his Mom is released from Prison"

"JR I don't know what came over you, but I like it". Sue Ellen went into his arms, and they kiss. They both smile when Josh rolled down the window, and asked them if they were coming he was hungry.

"We are coming Son". JR said as he ran around the car, making Sue Ellen stare, and JR got to his door.

"Lets go Sue Ellen I'm starving too". Sue Ellen got in the car, and she put her belt on, and she didn't know what to think. She could see JR was getting attached, and she liked that but if he turned out to be Ray's child or someone Else's, she knew that was a good possibility, but with their track record for making mistakes she knew the chances of Josh's being JR's was a good possibility.

Chapter 22

Sue Ellen, and JR drove Josh to a nice family restaurant, and they went inside. JR sat beside Josh on one side of the booth, and Sue Ellen sat on the other. JR handed Josh the menu, and asked him what he wanted.

"I want a burger with lots of fries"

"Sounds good I might have a burger too". Sue Ellen put her menu down, she just wanted a salad, she wasn't feeling real well. She thought it was from all the stress, and now she was worried about John Ross, she prayed he didn't get upset seeing Josh come home. They ordered their food, and JR was talking to Josh Sue Ellen excused herself, and went to the washroom. She was washing her hands she looked in the mirror she was pale she hoped she wasn't come down with anything. She walked out, and sat down as the waitress brought their food. Sue Ellen was picking at her salad, and JR noticed.

"Sugar are you OK you look a little tired"?

"I'm fine I'm just a little tired, and it is so hot out there"

"I hope you didn't catch something from the Doctor's office"

"JR we just left there it is nothing just eat, I'm really not hungry"

Josh smiled, "I wouldn't be hungry if I had rabbit food only"

"Salad is good for you young man but my son feels the same way you do"

"I will meet him today right"?

JR smiled, "Yes tonight, and I hope you both hit it off"

"It will be nice having a kid to talk to "

Sue Ellen and JR smiled at each other as Josh continued eating his burger. They finished eating, and Josh had ice cream, and they were leaving. They all got in the car, and were driving home. JR knew John Ross, and Christopher should be home by now. They drove up to Southfork, and parked the car. Sue Ellen saw John Ross, and Christopher by the pool with Jock, and Ellie. John Ross saw JR's car, and yelled out , and came running over to greet them.

"Daddy, Mommy". JR got out of the car, and John Ross ran over hugging him. Sue Ellen opened the backdoor, and Josh got out holding her hand, and John Ross was a little confused, but Sue Ellen walked over to him.

"Hey John Ross, I would like you to meet Josh he is going to spend a couple of days with us"

"Why where is his Mommy, and Daddy"?

JR put John Ross down, "Well son they are not here but how about you take Josh upstairs with you, and see if one of your swimsuits fit him"

"Why doesn't he have his own swimsuit"?

Sue Ellen held out her hand to John Ross, and Josh, and told JR she would find him something to wear. Sue Ellen walked into the house, JR looked over seeing Jock, and Miss Ellie looking over, and he walked over telling them Josh was going to stay for awhile. He would explain more later but right now he was worried about John Ross "

Christopher ran over, "Uncle JR can you swim with me , and John Ross we can beat you in a race every time"

JR smiled, "Yes because I let you, I will change, and be right down"

JR walked into the house, and Miss Ellie smiled at Jock, and whispered.

"Something is about to happen but for the life of me I don't know what it is"

Jock smiled as Christopher ran over asking his Grandma for a drink.

Chapter 23

Sue Ellen walked into John Ross's room with John Ross, and Josh. She walked over to his dresser, and pulled out a pair of John Ross's swim trunks, and handed it to Josh , and told him to go try it on in the washroom. Josh ran in, and shut the door, and Sue Ellen laughed seeing John Ross staring at her with his hands on his hips.

"OK John Ross sit down for a minute"

John Ross ran over sitting on the bed, and Sue Ellen sat beside him.

"Sweetie Josh is here for a visit, so I need you to be nice to him can you do that for me"?

"Yes, but why did you stay with him last night"?

"Well he needed me, and I had to stay with him, but we thought bringing him home here would be better. He is a nice young man, and he needs a friend"

"Where is he going to sleep"?

"In the guestroom"

"Good because he isn't having my bed". JR walked in, "Boy you are like your Daddy I never liked to share either"

"JR" Sue Ellen smiled as John Ross got up, and ran to the door.

"I'm going downstairs to swim, you can bring him down if you want". John Ross ran out, and JR smiled, and walked over sitting beside Sue Ellen.

"He is a little jealous I think but he will be fine Sue Ellen"

"If Josh turns out to be your child what will John Ross do than"?

"Well we will deal with that when it happens, but if he is my son, I'm going to take care of him"

"Of course JR"

"Are you going to go for a swim with us, I think I will take a swim"

"Not me, I'm feeling a little sick, I'm not sure what is wrong"

"You hardly ate in 2 days maybe your hungry"

"I'm just tired, maybe I will rest for a hour or 2"

JR held her hand as Josh came out of the washroom wearing the swim trunks.

"I look kind of weird "

"They look fine Josh, I'm going to change stay here with Sue Ellen, I will come, and get you". JR walked out, and Sue Ellen got up to grab him a towel but she felt dizzy, and sat down . Josh was scared, and ran over to her.

"Sue Ellen are you OK"?

"I felt dizzy I'm fine Sweetie"

"You look awful"

Sue Ellen looked at him she was still dizzy but she whispered, "Thanks Josh nice to know I look awful"

"I mean sick"

"I know but I'm fine lets keep this to ourselves OK Josh"

"You should tell Mr. Ewing"

"He will worry I would rather him go swimming with you, and John Ross so I will tell him later".

Josh sat beside her, and held her hand. They were talking when JR walked in, and smiled telling Josh they should get downstairs before John Ross, and Christopher get sick of swimming. Josh ran over, but looked back at Sue Ellen.

Sue Ellen smiled, "Go have fun, I am going to rest". JR grabbed Josh's hand, and left, and Sue Ellen, sat for a minute, and than got up, and walked to her room. She got inside shutting the door, and walked over to the bed, and laid down. She shut her eyes, she couldn't understand what was wrong with her, she was drifting off asleep when she suddenly sat up, and whispered to herself.

"Oh God I can't be"

Chapter 24

JR was with John Ross, Josh, and Christopher they all were having fun swimming. JR finally got out of the pool, and dried off.

"JR why didn't Sue Ellen come down she didn't have to swim"? Miss Ellie asked

Josh walked up behind JR, and said Sue Ellen was not feeling well.

"She is fine Josh she is just tired"?

"She almost fell upstairs she scared me"

JR turned to his Dad, 'Can you watch Josh, and the boys, I want to check on Sue Ellen"

"Of course but I'm sure she is fine that woman never eats properly"

Miss Ellie smiled, "Jock Ewing stop it Sue Ellen would hate you talking that way about her"

"She doesn't it is no wonder she isn't sick more often". JR smiled, and excused himself, and ran upstairs to see her. He walked into the room, and found her on the bed, she was asleep. He walked over sitting beside her, and he touched her face making her move but she opened her eyes.

"Sugar I had to hear from the boy your sick he said you almost fell"

"Oh I was a little dizzy I think I'm getting a 24 hour bug"

"Oh God from the Doctor's office I told you those places are germ collectors"

Sue Ellen smiled as JR asked her how she felt?

"Not so good, I think I will skip supper"

"Daddy is going on about your eating habits, but he is right you barely eat recently"

"My nerves are shot there has been quite a bit of stress recently "

"I know , and it was my fault, but we will find out the results soon"

"JR can I tell you something without you freaking out"?

"Sue Ellen I don't freak out unless you tell me your leaving me for Barnes"

"No will you be serious for one moment"

"OK " Sue Ellen sat up, and just came out, and said what was on her mind.

"JR I might be pregnant, and if you ask me if this is your kid I will kill you"

"I wasn't going to ask that but I am right"?

"God JR everything is happening all at once. Josh could be your child or he could be Ray's or someone Else's, but I can't believe I'm saying this but I want him to be yours. I don't know what is going to happen to his Mom, but if he is yours your going to have to go see her, and see what she wants"

"Sue Ellen she might have killed her husband, and she is in jail, I don't think she has much of a choice at this moment. I do hope the Judge goes easy on her, but that is out of our hands"

"JR what if I'm pregnant"?

"Well that would be perfect, I will have another son"

"Son what if we have a baby girl"

"Girl oh Sugar that is scary"

"Yeah but perfect because her Daddy will have to grow up real fast, and I can see you now when she goes out on her first date"

"Oh God don't mention it"

"Why don't you go down , and have dinner with the family, I'm fine I just want to sleep"

"I will bring you up a soup later, and some crackers"

"JR I'm a little scared I barely remember half my pregnancy with John Ross, I really messed up, but this time I want to do everything right"

"Me too Sugar now go to sleep"

Sue Ellen laid back, and JR kissed her, she shut her eyes, and JR stayed with her until she fell asleep.

Chapter 25

The next morning JR got up trying not to wake Sue Ellen up. She was up most the night, she wasn't really sick she just couldn't sleep, and he was awake most the night too. He put his housecoat on, and left the room, and walked downstairs he was in a dire need of a coffee. He walked into the kitchen seeing Teresa, and asked her for a coffee. He walked out to the living room, and found John Ross, and Christopher on the couch watching cartoons.

"Hey Daddy"

"You boys are up early how long have you been down here"?

"Not long we are watching Batman it is so cool"

"Guys in costumes yeah cool" JR said making Christopher laugh, and John Ross pouted staring at the TV.

"I'm kidding Son don't pout it isn't very cool"

"John Ross always pouts he gets his way that way"

"Oh you are a baby Christopher Shut up"

"Now both of you stop do you hear me, and your Father talking like that"?

"Yes" John Ross, and Christopher said, and JR sat down, and laughed.

"Oh you hear us fighting great to know we thought we were sheltering you from it"

"Daddy can you beat Uncle Bobby up"?

"What John Ross why would you ask that of course I could"?

JR smiled but he felt a hand on his shoulder, and he turned seeing Bobby.

"Hey Bob come watch Batman it is cool"

"You can beat me up really JR, why would you say that to the kids"?

"We were just talking but lets not fight about it"

"We will discuss it later, how is Sue Ellen this morning"?

"Tired she was up all night, I was too, would you mind it if I stayed home today"?

"Your kidding right"?

"No I'm tired, and I have to be with her we have to get something checked out. I should be here with Josh too, so do you mind"?

"No I can get the kids to school, Pam has left already"

"That would be great". JR turned telling John Ross to go up, and get dressed for school.

"Dad why doesn't Josh have to go to school"?

"He will but not this week don't you worry about him you run up, and get dressed"

"It isn't fair" John Ross got up running out of the room, Christopher followed him.

"Oh God I don't know what to do about John Ross, he is jealous of Josh, and I don't know why"?

"JR he is a child you brought another child into the house, he is confused"

"Yeah I guess, I better go up, and see if he is alright"

"Yeah I'm sure he will be". JR put his coffee down, and went upstairs as Bobby went into the dining room, and Teresa brought him a coffee.

JR walks into John Ross's room finding John Ross sitting on his bed.

"John Ross I need to talk to you"

"I'm getting ready Dad, I will be down in a minute, what are you going to do with Josh today"?

"Nothing much, I love you John Ross, you will always be the most important person in my life"

"Really even more than Mommy"?

"Hey I don't need your Mom mad at me, we both love you so much"

"Why is Josh here"?

"He doesn't have anyone John Ross please don't be upset he is here, I need you to help him feel welcome"

"Do I have to"?

JR hugged John Ross, and whispered, "I sure would be proud of you if you would"

"OK Dad for you but he bugs me"

"He is a good kid John Ross, but you better get dressed, you will be late for school"

"OK Dad". JR kissed his forehead, and got up leaving the room, and shut the door, and walked to Josh's room, and opened it, and saw him sleeping he smiled as he shut the door, and walked to his room to see how Sue Ellen was doing.
