    Default Rick Perry's "Strong" ad

A few people were ranting on Facebook tonight about Rick Perry's "Strong" ad. So I watched it, and was rather disgusted. Am I the only one who thinks this guy is a complete douchebag?

I am pretty much in the middle when it comes to politics. But this just completely rubbed me the wrong way. What kind of smarmy comment is that---"I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a Christian, but you don't need to be in the pew every Sunday to know there's something wrong in this country when gays can serve openly in the military but our kids can't openly celebrate Christmas or pray in school."

First of all, if you want to repeal a ban that's been in place since 1962 in US schools, you go right ahead. But separation of church & state has been around much longer than you, buddy!

IMO he should be thankful that we've had enough people volunteer to serve in our military--gay or straight--over the last 20 years during a war without drafting anyone....unlike WWII and Vietnam.

And Rick Perry, did you forget who makes it possible for you to be free to celebrate Christmas in this country?!

This is the kind of guy that makes all Conservatives look like gay bashing, hiding-behind-religion jerks. I'm also middle of the road and this stuff irritates me. There are more than just Christians who are law abiding tax paying citizens in this country. I don't get offended when people say Merry Christmas or invite Santa to the mall. At this point I don't know which side I'm voting for!

It's really, really depressing that somebody this blatantly discriminatory is actually a viable presidential candidate. The GOP seems to thrive on these disgusting, sub-human cretins. Bachman, Gingrich, and Cain have identical views to this douche. Never mind that America should be open to all faiths, or the fact that it's not up to the schools to indoctrinate kids into atheism, Christianity, or any other personal belief system. I miss candidates like JFK. He wrote about being a Catholic, but said he would not use his religious beliefs to guide a nation of all faiths. Candidates like Perry, on the other hand, are selfish and want to make this country exclusively for people like them. They don't embrace our differences, they embrace gay-bashing Christian robots.

"Pastor" Perry is a theocrat, pure and simple. I think most of the rest of the Republican lineup is like that also, but I'm certain in Perry's case. And if he gets elected president, he will move at utmost speed to "Christianize" this country, and most likely would try to get some aspects of old testament law into our legal code. He would also like to expel or otherwise be rid of, all those hundreds of kinds of people he doesn't like: Non Christians, women, atheists, blacks, Latinos, gays, people who just disagree with him, etc, etc. He probably thinks starting a war with Iran is a sensible thing to do (NOT! - The Iranians are quite capable of taking care of themselves and they have the home court advantage). Perry, AFAIC, would be just the Jesus version of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (another disgusting little sub-human douchebag).

Exactly. His brand of Christianity is no different from Ahmadinejad's brand of Islam. Both seek world domination and indoctrination of their beliefs. This is not a slam against sensible people of those faiths, whom I know exist. It's only the extremists I have a problem with.

I like this response video I found from a very eloquent young man. This is the America I want to live in:

The best thing to come out of this Rick Perry video are all of the response videos to it. Many people of different faiths have rejected this fool's hate rhetoric, and have shown that diversity and tolerance are true American values. That gives me hope.

By the way, keep refreshing Perry's original video on YouTube. The dislikes rise dramatically. It's hysterical!

Word. Here's some low-down on Pastor Perry.

Somebody needs to teach that stupid sonofabitch that this nation was founded on the concept of the separation of church and state. If you want to pray, go to church or go to your private home.

    Amen.

Exactly right. Home and church are where you go to "openly celebrate" holidays. Also, just because a teacher can't make kids pray doesn't mean a student can't take time to do so on their own if they choose. They have before and after classes, as well as recess and lunch to pray if they want to. That's why the "war on religion" is so phony. He's just upset because the government won't allow one religion to infiltrate every institution in this country.

Keep in mind that every time one of these religious freaks bangs on about [homosexuality/unwed sex/etc/etc] odds are strongly in favour of that person being the very thing s/he is railing about. Translations: These religious jerks project so hard they could show movies on the moon.
