Christine Bleakley is new host of Dancing on Ice

Breakfast television flop, Christine Bleakley is to co host popular sunday evening dance show, Dancing on Ice, alongside Philip Schofield when the series returns in January.

She is replacing Holly Willoughby who is leaving to go to the BBC to present new talent show, The Voice on BBC1. However, it is believed she will continue to present daytime's This Morning alongside Schofield.

The news comes as former The One Show hosts, Bleakley and Adrian Chiles were binned from flop breakfast TV show, Daybreak as ratings plummeted to a record low of just 350,000 viewers - a fifth of the audience watching their rivals on the BBC. They are expected to depart the show in just weeks.

New boss, David Kermode who takes over the ailing Breakfast TV outfit at the start of December is understood to have made being allowed to change the hosts a pre condition of accepting the job. Ex GMTV anchor, Eamonn Holmes is now being rumoured as a potential replacement.

Christine was given a £ 4 million deal with ITV last year.

I can't believe they're replacing the fab Holly with Christine. Let's hope she doesn't make Dancing on Ice unwatchable as well.

Christine is from Northern Ireland like myself. She's a lovely girl and I think she's a great host. I don't think it's down to her that Daybreak failed - GMTV was always going to be a hard act to follow.

It's now being rumoured that Jason Gardner will not be returning as a judge when the series returns early next year and will instead be replaced by Louie Spence.

If so, I think ITV are making a terrible mistake.
