Default Watching Days of our Lives 1984

I'v just started watching DOOL from the begining of 1984 and so far so good, the reason why im starting with 1984 is because no one has any copys of the soap from before then. I think the 80's was a good time for any soap its just a shame there not like it today.

MUCH better than what's on Days in 2011.

How do you have episodes from 1984 to watch ??

1984 was right around when I started watching Days, so I have fond memories of that era. Let us know what you think of the characters and storylines as you are viewing them. It would be interesting to hear your views on the show at that time.

I started watching with my mother in the 1970s and stuck around full-time until John became a key player in 1986. It sort of derailed for me after that. I don't think there was ever a better Marlena pairing than the one she had with Wayne Northrop's Roman. I loved the storylines prior to his exit. The Dimeras added a wonderful element to the show that we hadn't seen before, although my mom's generation had a hard time accepting them, as the Dimeras and the Bradys felt as if they were threatening to phase out the Hortons for good at the time.

1984 was a great year for Days. Bo and Hope were going strong, Neil and Liz were still around, and my favorite couple, Kimberly and Shane, were introduced. I think they were, by far, the most interesting couple on the show from 84 to 86--lots of depth and emotional issues, especially with regard to Kimberly's sexual abuse. Good stuff there. Enjoy!

hi i got my dvds from ioffers its the complete year so iv got alot to watch, im a big fan of the US soap and up until last year we had 3 US soap on in the UK but the channel pulled them for the air so now i buy them. im only about 10 episodes into 84 but im hooked and hope to stay that way.
its so sad that so many of the US soap are ending and i hear general hospital is next for the chop but i have to say iv never seen an episode GH.
i very fond of DOOL , B&B and then the young and the restless and i just hope the keep on going strong for many years to come.

I've thought about buying these DAYS episodes, as I too have a desire to see a full series almost of a classic soap. My problem is that DAYS has never been my soap and I don't know if I'd enjoy it enough to buy it. I tried with Port Charles, but that was too dull and currently I have the first year and a half of Passions that I've been watching from the beginning. I actually love that show. It was very traditional in the beginning and is actually well written at that point.

I notice another soap popping up lately is Santa Barbara and I was thinking of buying that. I've never seen that show, but hear great things and it does have a fabulous theme tune.

i too wish to watch santa barbara but a lot of the dvds on ioffers have foreign subs which is really frustrating so i'll just have to wait and see if they will ever repeat it on tv. im a huge fan of sunset beach but iv watched that twice now and the closest thing to that is DOOL which is why i like it so much, you get your silly stories but you also get your seriuos stories too. the 80's was the best decade for most soaps and DOOL always comes out on top from what people tell me on here and i have to say its bloody good stuff.

Strangely enough, the summer of 1984 was when I first started watching Days.

Remember a scene with the back of a man's head, and cigar smoke around him, he turned around in the chair, yup, Stefano was back from "the dead".

Friends mom screamed in excitement. I guess this was before Stefano dying every year began.

Yes. Best daytime couple from 1984 to 1986. Better than Bo and Hope, although I liked them too.

You don't like Hope? You must be a Carly or Billie fan. And what of Kimberly? Do you like her?

kimberly and shane are just great i've got a feeling there will be some good stuff coming up from them. i've not got to carly or billy yet so no spoilers please. hope for me at the moment is just really annoying but i know she grows up eventually so i wont let her bother me to much plus i know she leaves the show at some point in the 80's to work on falcon crest.

Well, then. That's good. Stick with them. You'll love the ride.

I think it has a lot to do with Alfonso's acting. Even she's said she wasn't all that great at the start. I think she became one of the better actresses on the show in later years. Much better than Deidre Hall who was only at her best when Wayne Northrop played Roman in the very early 80s. Glory DAYS.
