Afton Has Arrived In Collinsport...
I have finally stepped off the train and into the world of DARK SHADOWS!
I'm ten episodes in and it's been setting up storylines quite nicely. How very PEYTON PLACE it all is so far...well, PEYTON PLACE gone gothic. The cliff even brings back fond memories of the epic bluff from PEYTON PLACE where poor Anne met her end. The characters are an absolutely delight thus far but I will comment more once I get a better feel for them.
Sunny, Canon! Have you received your sets yet? If so, it's on!
Join the fun!

No, wait for me! I still haven't received it, I should really go about looking into that.

Has she said "I don't understand!" yet? Someone ought to do a running total of those.

Sorry, Canon, I'm already 33 eps in haha. I'm eating it up like nuts. If this is supposed to be the dull part of Dark Shadows then I'm REALLY looking forward to Barnabas

God, yes,
. Victoria is so thick. I've wanted to smack her a few times already. I was kinda hoping Carolyn would last night but no luck
-
Carolyn slapping Victoria for being thick would be like Dr. Hoffman accusing Barnabas of overacting.

Hmmm...true, ha! Carolyn is so out of place in that house
She was actually going to slap her for having non-dinner with Burke. Scandalous!

Okay, I've reached episode 60 and already am embroiled in a murder mystery. I went from one attempted murder to this and it's sheer delight so far. Even a nine year old is investigating the murder and something tells me he may be the one to figure it all out as no one is taking him seriously. Then agin, it could be the crystal ball he keeps toting around...
Anyway, I know I mentioned this in the past but it's honestly PEYTON PLACE with ghosts. Sunny, Canon...you're going to LOVE this! Please start soon so I'm not talking to myself forever! haha
-
You're not Billy No Mates don't worry Afton !! Oh gosh , I really have to clear some time and catch up with you. Ok..... I'm booking my ticket for the train to Collywhatsitcalled !!

I'll send Dr. Hoffman over to Canon's with her Big Bag o' Sedatives.

Woo hoo! It's well worth the journey. Believe me! I'm at work right now dying to get home and continue. It's deliciously addictive.

PEYTON PLACE with sheep? haha. What is Sunny watching now?
Poor Canon. Where did you order your set from? The US?

I cannot wait to meet her. I've heard she's quite a character. Are you excited for the movie, Daniel? I'm going to try and finish before it's out. Hopefully it comes out in the five years it'll take me
-
Canon, any word on the DVD's? I'm on episode 153 now and cannot wait to talk to SOMEONE about what's going on haha
And Daniel, if Vicki exclaims "But, I don't understand!" one more time, I'm using Laura's powers to give the daft cow a boot in the snoot.

She will never, ever stop saying that.

Lovely...God, that drives me bonkers. I would never want to play a Dark Shadows drinking game if that were one of the conditions.

No...tbh I'd almost forgotten about it until you bumped this thread.
I'm doing Brookside and nothing else seems to matter, not even life.

Forgive my ignorance but what is Brookside?
-
It's Dark Shadows with better lighting.
I must say I'm ambivalent about the movie, because every leaked bit I see makes me wonder if Tim Burton is going to trash the show in an effort to be "edgy". I really think you ought to see the two DS movies made during the run of the original series. They used a lot of the cast, and even had a budget!
I loved DS for the lulz, mostly. You can't help but enjoy watching it, especially if you are in on the joke. I respect the actors for being able to get the job done despite the crumbling sets, the boom mike shadows, the forgotten lines, and such. I don't take it too seriously, so getting genuinely frightened isn't really gonna happen. But getting a good laugh at least once per episode is almost guaranteed.
And you have not lived until you hear Grayson Hall try to scream.

It's early Knots, only less melodramatic and set in England.

Oh, I have both movies as well. I'll be watching them after I watch the entire show. I didn't want to view them beforehand as I haven't even met Barnabas yet, though I will soon!
I'm a little unsure about the Burton movie as well. I adore his movies but from the leaked pictures it's starting to look a little Alice in Wonderland-ish. Then again, it could be Helena Bonham Carter...

Definitely. I've passed the point where they were trying to be serious and it's better than ever. Louis Edmonds in particular seems to enjoy his role the most. He delivers Roger's barbs and arrogant statements with relish and it really shows. David Henesy is also a delight with his obsession with death and, of course, his crystal ball haha.
