    Default Soap Opera Memorabillia

Have you been sooooooo interested in a soap that it has become part of your daily life? And that you collect anything on the show? Or do you just watch them but have some bits of memorabilia here and there? Some people may have a dog called Alan Turner or Phil Mitchell and their house has The Rovers Return as its name.

I have a few Corrie books but most of my memorabilia is from, you guessed it, Emmerdale. I have the 30th anniversary book, Emmerdale Farm by James Ferguson, 25th anniversary book, Emmerdale Behind The Scenes, A Pictorial Memoir and Emmerdale Family Album plus a small Emmerdale brochure I bought in Esholt. I also have an Esholt mug and some mints I got from Esholt shop. I have the case but I scoffed the mints when walking round the village. I have all 3 Emmerdale Farm Volumes and the 35th anniversary Best Of Emmerdale DVD and Emmerdale The Rescue from 1994.

I've got hundreds of signed photos, all the novels and books, a few press packs from ITV, a Woolpack teapot, and hundreds of episodes from the past 15 years, plus all the official DVD releases too. I've just pre-ordered from Amazon the Official Emmerdale 2012 Annual too....... I've also got copies of certain episodes from original YTV master tapes.
ALAN TURNER FAN!!!! and like Turner I say what I think and I think what I say!!!!!

I've got lots of Crossroads books and magazines. Lots of Coronation St books too, including autobiographies of Pat Phoenix, (2), Bill Waddington, Julie Goodyear and William Roache.

I've got books on general soap operas which include Emmerdale. I will have Richard Thorp's autobiography when it is written. I do have lots of things, I might have more but I can't think of them at the moment.

I've got quite a lot of Corrie memorabilia including 50 years of Coronation Street (a book released to celebrate its 50th year on the airwaves). I've also got the autobiographies of Jean Alexander, Bill Tarmey and Julie Goodyear plus the memoirs of Bill Podmore (the Street's longest serving producer) published in 1990. I also have another book that was published when the Street was 40 years old as well as Lynne Perrie's book, billed as the book they tried to ban. I also have a number of Corrie DVDs including the 1980s boxset in full and some of the 1970s DVDs (1974, 1978 & 1979), the tram crash, stars of the street as well as the spin off DVDs featuring Roy and Hayley and also the one with Fiz, Chesney and God-cilla . I also picked up some videos released in 1990 when Corrie was celebrating its 30th year on air.

Addiitonally, I also have a couple of Prisoner Cell block H books - one written by the ex Daily Mirror TV critic, Hilary Kingsley and another written by the Australian journalist, Terry Bourke (both published in 1990). I also have a couple of Prisoner DVDs. I'm also hoping to acquire episodes 287 to 692 when these are released on DVD in the near future.

I also have the 2 The Young Doctors DVDs (best romances & biggest cliffhangers) which were released by Umbrella.

I do have Liz Dawn's autograph back from 1993 - I was at uni in Southampton at the time and she was visiting the local W H Smiths on the day.

I have the autograph of David Easter who played Pete Callan in Family Affairs from 1997 to 2005. Great show that was.

With my Emmerdale episodes 85 to 244 packs I have not started from episode 85 onwards. The first episode in the collection was episode 217 from December 1974. I wanted to see scenes from the Gimbel family.

Ive collected everything and anything on Dallas since Sat jan 12th 1980 - all cast including ones i cant stand

With any luck next year should be the year for 100 000 newspaper and magazine articles - and storage is a huge problem!!! Currently at 99 000 plus

if I thought Id still be doing it 32 years later I would have laughed (and been an awful lot richer )

I have various bits and bobs. I have loads of Neighbours items as I was obsessed with it back in the day. Sticker albums, VHS releases, magazines, annuals and other books, the original theme on 7" along with a special version recorded by the cast circa 1992, the Christmas album, trading cards etc.
I have a few bits from Dallas, most of the DVDs, a few VHS releases, all the episodes taped from UK Gold and the recent CBS Drama airing, Annuals, the BBC 7", An LP, Howard Keel Singing "J.R. Who Do You Think You Are" on 7", various books and biographies, badges and strangest of all, an unopened can of JR Ewing Premium Beer.

I have never really been a fan of Coronation Street but a few years ago I picked up the 70's box set for £10 at a carboot sale. I can never resist a Network DVD regardless of what it is. Anyway I enjoyed it so much that during Networks recent 40% off sale I got the 60's set and then the 80's set (which I am working through at the moment) during their 30% off selected 1980's titles sale. I don't think I will bother with any of the later sets though as it started getting too "Real" by then.

I know that shows like Dallas have a cult following but never think that people would be interested in old items relating to shows like Emmerdale. Not so long back I saw a shelf filled with old Emmerdale Farm paperbacks all in great condition and all I could think was "I wish they were the Dallas ones". LOL

Emmerdale fans collecting memorabilia on Emmerdale is quite common. Same with collecting Crossroads memorabilia. People will collect more for Dallas and Dynasty due to their cult followings but some collect Corrie, Emmerdale and Crossroads items as well.

Oh I do understand that. It's just with shows that have been running all that time you kind of forget that people do collect items related to those shows. They seem somehow more ephemeral by virtue of the fact that you could never hope to watch every episode back to back and know it all back to front. Imagine if Network released "The Complete Coronation Street". Aside from the cost, just how many years would it take to watch them all and would they keep releasing add-on sets once a year? Although I would love to see some more volumes from the 60's, 70's and 80's.

That's just reminded me. A couple of years ago I also picked up a few TV Times specials. Crossroads Wedding Souvenir, The Secrets Behind Emmerdale Farm, The Coronation Street episode 1000 and episode 2000 specials, plus There's a Wedding In The Street. I also have an issue of the Crossroads Monthly. No idea how many issues that ran for.

Corrie and Emmerdale have made 14000 episodes between them so that is a lot of episodes to watch if you wanted to watch all of them.

Does anyone have pictures of their collections? I love seeing what other people have

Also, was just wondering if the Neighbours VHS tapes that were released in the UK got a release anywhere else in the world. I have 4:
How It All Began: The first 5 episodes in omnibus format
The Wedding Collection: Des and Daphne, Harold and Madge, Scott and Charlene (in that order which is a little off putting hearing Des talking about the loss of Daphne and then seeing her at Scot and Charlene's wedding)
The Scott and Charlene Love Story: Edited highlights from Charlene's first appearance up to the wedding
A 10th Anniversary Celebration: A great little Documentary presented by Anne Haddy
