First time watching The Colbys.

Sable had good reasons to be pissed off, but I find it hard to like her, even on Dynasty S9 when she tried to work her way into the Carrington household.

The Colbys really is a Dynasty-Extra-Time, it does not have a character of its own but that's just fine with me.
At that time I was such a Dynasty fanatic I probably whould have watched any Dynasty spin-off, even the Fallmonts.
Actually...now I'm watching S7 dvd, I kinda like Buck and Emily Fallmont. Hmm....

just finished watching the Colbys S01 for the first time - ohh boy what a snoozefest! i never was so bored in a long time.
I found out the original order that made sense for the crossovers, so i mostly watched one episode dynasty s06 and then one episode colbys s01 (sometimes that changed)

I liked Monica but could have done without Bliss who was not very bright and slutty. I liked Constance but understood why Barbara Stanwyck left. It was a good show but could have changed a few things.

See while i liked Monica in season 9 of the Dynasty and would have liked her to be a regular had Season 10 happened, maybe growing a bond with Sammy Jo and Fallon.

However watching Colbys recently on UK repeast, i found both Monica and Bliss lacking substance during season one, and only really liked the characters during season 2 or at least towards the end of season 1.

Part of the reason for this was that the two daughters had very little screen time together. Miles often had scenes with each one but the two daughters very little. Even when Monica and Bliss did share the few scenes they were fleeting or party scenes where they both spoke to others. You have got a sibling bond from them. I think both characters could have benifited from this.

However while early Dynasty and season 9 Dynasty showed sibling bonds (well Sammy Jo and Fallon became friends in season 9) and Steven and Fallon had a close bond in early seasons. Yet if you look at around the time Colbys were made the powers that be and writers had the Carrington children all having seperate stories and scenes. For example Amanda had very little sibling relation ship with Steven or Adam. Just the odd scene here and there. However early Dynasty and season 9 had the siblings onscreen more.

If any of the above make sense. I do feel because of this that Bliss and Monica suffered partly because of this. For example Fallon also suffered as all her stories were with Jeff and Miles and lets face it Fallon was written as a wimp in Colbys. But even Fallon barely had a relationship with the Colby daughters.
