Is True Blood "gay"?

Hmm, I don't know if anyone else has noticed it, but the hot ladies are largely outnumbered by the hot men.
No complaints here, but I wonder, is it just coincidence or is there a more specific reason?

And while we're on the subject, let's see whose our favourite TB man

My favorite characters are Tara and Lafayette so I guess this makes Lafayette my favorite TB man.
If I had to date one of them, it would be Sam.

I think Bill is a lot hotter than Eric and I really don't get the hype around Eric.
I would think that Sookie's brother is not the tpye girls go for (in real life I mean, it's different on the show).

I have only watched the first season and a few episodes of season 2. But I agree the men are very hott!!!! Ill say that Eric is so sexy to me for some reason? As is Sookies brother and Bill.

Im going with Eric... Its that hott Norse Viking/Vampire thing. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

oh and yes True Blood is gay in that most gay guys are secretly geeks, and their is something geek like about a show about vampires werewolves and shape shifters. I speak as an outed gay geek myself.

Really? I always thought it were the straight men who were into supernatural stories and comic books and computer games etc.
I for one have never read those books/magazines and I have never played a computer game in my whole life

The vampires and werewolves on TB, basically it's all an alternative version of gangs and maffia.

One thing I noticed when I watched an episode yesterday:
Hoyt tells Jessica that she should resist her craving for human blood.
But, that really is what a vampire is all about.
Soooo, would that be the same as telling a gay person he/she should resist his/her sexual desires?
Oh dear, is True Blood anti-gay now?

Hmm...I'm sure it wasn't intended that way but still I found it quite peculiar!

A lot of gay guys are secret geeks, ofcourse they would never admit it. I have a lot of friends who like comic books and super heros. I love all the Xmen movies and the Superman films. I liked the Starwars films growing up and I like a bit of Star Treck though i have not watched in years.

Buffy had a big gay following, though I never liked it. A lot of gay guys also love anything to do with Vampires. Theres a homoerotic undercurrent there, in books and films like Interview with the vampire.
Theres usually a bit of the glam and theatre where Vampires are concerned. They are usually larger than life or brooding characters. Theres a bit of melancholy and a bit of drama which goes down well with the gays.

A lot of gay guys are geeks. But then again it could just be that being a geek is a guy thing in general. Woen dont tend to be as geeky or obsessive about things like sci-fi or fantasy genre.

Im going to have to buy season 2 and 3 as I have missed so much. I heard that in season 2 it becomes very different and a little crazy. Im sure I will love it too. Its my kind of show anyways.

I just have that many shows to watch its hard to keep up. I have taken a brake from Dallas for a while to let me catch up on other shows, then ill be back to season 11 of that then maybe it will be Mad Men I hope.
I will fit True Blood in somewhere.

There is a lot of hot guys on True Blood, my favourites are Sam and Bill. Oh Eric is hot too, I have only seen Season 1 and part of 2.

I would attribute the hot guys outnumbering the girls to the female fanbase rather than it being "gay" in general. Not to mention the whole recent attraction to vampires in (and frighteningly outside of) the bubblegum crowd thanks to the Twilight craze.

I'm so sorry I had the HBO disconnected this winter. I saw this past summer's season (three?) and thought "Wow, this show is definitely run by a gay guy with deep pockets and a sick mind!" I'll just have to eavesdrop on everyone else's conversations to find out what happens.

I have to put "And now, the weather. Tiffany?" as one of my top three TV lines of all time.

I voted for Alcide, mostly because other than that whole howling-at-the-moon thing, he's the most "normal", stand-up kinda guy there. If only they didn't make him wax so much.

I'm generally against assigning default sexual orientations to shows. True Blood is a campy show with a lot of female sexual fantasy fulfillment in it, so it lacks a strong straight male fanbase. It also deals, hamfistedly, with gay themes. I like it, though, and I'm pretty close to a 0 on the Kinsey Scale.
