Icon8 People who are too sick to work, but not sick enough to play....

Grrrrrrrrrrr. OK I have a friend, who gets very irritated if you receive any perks at work, that she doesn't have. I try to take breaths when she tells me that although she thinks it's unfair that I can get lousy time and a half AND a day in lieu on the odd occasion (like a BH), she expects me to happily nod when she talks of 'getting paid treble time, for sitting scratching' (ie doing nothing). She also continually rubs it in that she somehow has 52 AL days to take, compared to most people's 30 (even management!).

She injured herself in December (broken shoulder bone) and is still in recovery. But is back to work on FULL pay with reduced hours until the Occupational Health advise otherwise. She's also went for a promotion.

She also was able to push both her nephew and niece around in buggies through the zoo a couple of days ago.

Can someone help me with this before I say something I regret???! I work very long hours and haven't taken a break since 2008. I don't want to be bitter about this but sometimes I feel like saying WTF???!

She works as an office administrator - I just don't get it!!!!!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Her arm is fully operational again, she is driving and going out socially!!!

There's a guy at work who claims he has all ailments under the sun, and yet he sprints down the stairs for a smoke like he's Linford Christie. He also has lodged a claim for £10,000 for almost falling off a chair - nobody either saw or heard this. And he claims he can't even lift a single sheet of A4 paper without it wrecking his back.

Well she is seriously pissing me off right now - wanted to know why I wasn't free to 'go out' today, because I have to work. While she is 'ill' and swanning about the place.

You really should meet this one I'm talking about, he is a hypochondriac to degree standard.

I'm trying to figure out a way to let it STOP bothering me though. It literally raises my blood pressure. She is a good friend but has also made it very clear that she 'enjoys' getting a rise out of people.

It is hard for something like this not to annoy you, especially if you are conscientious and keen to work yourself. When you see the direct opposite, it does annoy.

I've had issues with her for about 4 years now, but she is a very old friend. Sadly, she takes the joy out of a lot of things by the pressure she puts on me. Like holidays. I love going to the States, but planning it with her is like a military operation. I can't unfortunately plan v far in advance due to committments and work, but every time we meet now it's like:"It's crunch time, there will be folders and files". Even going to the movies with her turns into a day on the front line.

It's just very hurtful sometimes. I've been through a hell of a lot - her life is a walk in the park compared to mine (for example, she hasn't experienced any deaths in her family, has never had a relationship etc). But I feel the more I get wise to her the more I'm becoming aware that she projects a lot of her insecurities on me. I'm tired of her 'my way or the highway' attitude.

I think I'm slowly becoming more vocal with her. She sits back in shock if I challenge her.
