    Default The McKays.

Did anyone else feel that the writers really dropped the ball when it came to the McKays?
Carter started off okay but by his second season he was really repetitive and boring. Tracy, Tommy and Rose all showed potential but were in too few episodes and werent focused on enough to actually make an impact.

I mean wouldnt Rose's and Carter's relationship have been much more interesting if the writers had made her a main character and properly focused on it. Instead she disappeared for a while, came back and then made appearances every once and a while until the series ended. Their marraige then didnt make sense because you obviously didnt feel them actually being in love.

Same with Carter's and Tommy's relationship. If Tommy had been a main character if only for one season and they built up a relationship then it would have had much more impact than it did. Instead it just felt rushed and stupid.

    I agree!!

Don't get me wrong.. I love George Kennedy!! He is a superb actor....dear lord! He won an Academy Award!!

But as Carter Mckay..naw, not a good role for him especially into the later seasons. This really should have been a great story line, but the writing failed the actors on this one.

I was not a fan of Carter Mckay or Rose, nothing against the actors, the storyline was just
boring. Tommy McKay was crazy, the scene where he beat up April, is one of the most
shocking scenes, I ever saw on Dallas. George Kennedy is a great actor, I saw him in so many
movies, and loved him in the films. I just didn't like the whole Carter Mckay storyline.

I love the McKay's, I enjoyed how the family came in and interacted with the Ewings and Barnes'es and really shook things up. Mac was a very strong and complex guy, George Kennedy is always entertaining, and he's definitely one of my favorite tv characters of all time. I was happy to see him come back in the reunions, and also happy to know he's such a nice guy in real life and enjoyed his work there quite a bit.

Carter McKay was OK (although not with Rose, that was just excruciating), but the McKay siblings were woeful.

Me either, I hated the whole crew of them. Nothing redeemable about any of them.

My favorite is when Tommy is dying and Carter starts wailing yelling "Tooommmmyy!!!"

Other than that, didn't care for them (and never understood why the producers thought he was important enough to be in the reunion movies)

Bobby beating Tommy up was good.
