Is it just me, or are people STILL trying to petition on the IMDB board for this show ever since it got cancelled and even weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks before it did, despite the ever so close to 1 million viewers it kept getting after each show it aired and the ratings kept dropping while fans thought "next episode it will be great! MANY VIEWERS will watch for sure!". If it was a great show like the original, I could see, continue petitioning, but the ratings were awful, and if these "few" petitioners got their way, what would it prove? The same writers would not make the old fans happy. They'd continue ruining the returning old characters and they'd also continue not to mention about un-answered and dumb stories that made NO SENSE like Syd's faked death because someone wanted to kill Craig, Michael helping her, and her past with drinking because Michael cheated on her.

I can see it now, 1 month, 2, 3 months from now, the same posters on there, posting "Bring it back mid-season! Even for 6 shows! Make it a summer show, a spring show, blah blah blah!" That's all people are saying on there, the majority. They should all be happy it got 18 shows. I predicted 13, but Dawn wanted to give it 6 more, then they cut it back by 1, which was a sign it was trully over. Nobody believed me or others who warned that for sure that was a bad sign. The ratings were one thing, but the episode order...Full season for Vampire Diaries and only 5 more shows of MP after Colin and Ashley were written out? I was assuming they were gonna get cancelled in 13. We really didn't need episodes 14-18.

If people remember those Melrose Place inspired shows post-Melrose, remember this...

Titans on NBC....Ran 11 episodes. Never aired it's last 2. Got cancelled and the final 2 aired over seas.

North Shore on FOX ran 20 episodes. They didn't get the full 22 and it was cut back 1 show and episode 20 they cancelled it on FOX before they showed episode 21.

Melrose Place...Got 18, well, it got 19 then they cut that back by 1. So that 1 NEVER was produced, it was never written, or was it? They did order 6 scripts. Perhaps that 6th script would have been more bull as the previous 18 were, right? I mean, it was fun in a way, but it got boring and made a lot of fans upset when the writers stuck to the same things. Fashion, music, instead of old characters and good stories that were exciting and wanted us to tune in.

If Swimmer was smart, he'd please the fans. Get the cast together, and film a few additional scenes to wrap things up the way they did on Models Inc. Even some quick montages as he did in the end of episode 1. Of course, it would be too much in timing to throw in Jane and Jo and have them together in a scene, talking about what they've been up to over the years, but My idea is this...

Ella looks down from the platform at Amanda being taken off to jail.

    Cut to black

    (3 months later appears onscreen)

It is the day of Drew's Funeral. David comes home to Melrose Place with Lauren and his son, Noah (who he now has full custody of), all three dressed in black. He tells Lauren things are still tough, but his Dad is now in jail for completing bad surgeries and other wrong-doings which caused innocent peole like Drew to die. He has his trust fund, and now that his Dad is behind bars where he can't get free to hurt others, he's sold coal to the highest bidder and thinks Lauren, Noah, and him should move away. She tells him she wants to be closer to her parents. The two decide to skip town with Noah without Morgan or her father finding out.

Riley is saddened by Drew's passing. Jonah comforts her. The two finally get back together and decide to go off to Vegas and marry.

(There is then a montage of quick scenes)

Morgan shows up at David's door, it is open, she sees he's moved out.

Jonah and Riley drive to Vegas and laugh in the car.

David, Noah, and Lauren at her parents house, greeting them with happiness.

David surprises Lauren with a ring.

Jonah and Riley in Vegas kissing at a chapel.

David and Lauren kissing at their wedding.

Ella returns home after a long day at SPK, she has the whole building to herself. Just then, a handsome guy walks into the courtyard and asks if he can see David's old apartment.

In county Jail, Amanda is in her prison jumpsuit. She has a phone call from someone in another jail. It's Michael, who's lawyer got him to get the prison to give him the right to make one phone call. There is then a split screen image of the two talking to each other on the phone. The two Melrose Place residents who caused the most pain and suffering to people on the series are now locked up where they belong, though they are not killed off, they decide together than someday, when and if they get out, they will build a life together, for they belong together, as they're both evil and need one another. As they each hang up, a look of defeat in their eyes as they sink back, defeated, once and for all.

    THE END

This could be done fast, like 5-7 minutes, tops. Just quick scenes, showing who ended up with who in the end, and all happy endings.
Finally I got to work on one of my favorite nighttime soaps, Desperate Housewives! Did you guys all see Gabby push my Steel Worker character in episode 8.16 You Take For Granted?

It is kind of cruddy that the show is left hanging when the original show had a good wrap-up. I guess the main thing it undid was that now Amanda is in jail after all instead of happy on the island with her guy, so maybe that's justice but who knows if that's really gonna please the fans. But I suppose it's better than anyone else dying or their fate being unknown-at least Michael is still happy and free as far as I can tell from the summaries.

Michael is up in the air. Lauren revealed that his device was bad for surgeries and people were dying in front of all those doctors performing that surgery. That was her final scene (and Michael's as well). I don't know if he knew or not, or if he just learned that's what was happening, but either way, there's no telling what will happen. I am guessing he's gonna never be able to be a doctor again after that or get jailed after Lauren exposes everything, even if it means risking her position as a doctor when Michael tells everyone she's a prostitute. But we'll never find out. Amanda, we know what happened. She was BROKE. She has no way to fight anything anymore. All her $$ is gone, she ditched Peter, ditched every guy she ever was with. They would never go back and save her. Michael won't be able to either, since he's gonna be jailed too, I bet. Surely he's gonna get sued by all those people who's family members died because of that operation, so he'll lost everything.

Well, ha ha, I like to believe whatever happens, Michael Mancini will come out on top. Given the other crazy twists from throughout the two shows I am sure anything is possible. It would be nice one day to have a real reunion with more of the main cast that doesn't ignore this show either. Whatever happens, at least it did get to have a comeback, I think that's pretty cool. I am sad to hear they want to cut ties with the old show on the new 90210 and not have any more people from the past-I was enjoying getting to see these old stories continue.

I feel very bad for the show. It was what brought me to Cali in 2005. I had the dream since I was 11 to move here and write for it. Well, shows like it, and when in high school and then it ended, to someday write the reunion. However, that didn't happen. I did have dreams to move to LA and applied to schools for screenwriting and even got interviewed by UCLA for the MFA in 2005. However, they only chose 25 for that, and I was one of 100 chosen to interview. I did the Certificate program, which all the MFA interviewees get into and those who apply again to it most likely are accepted. However, after I completed the certificate I focused on acting and agreed to play a creepy teacher on Glee, which they named after my last name. I am very grateful for Melrose Place, for it was the show that brought me out to LA, and my screenplay sample was similar to it, only set by an ocean and much better than what this re-make was.

I feel very sad because I was really looking forward to things that I and many others used to predict if the show did indeed come back for an 8th season or a reunion movie. Questions that would be answered. The new writers, whoever they are, got to write the show even without caring what the fans wanted to see, nor did they religiously watch the original. When you bring a show back, you need writers who were either original writers or those who loved the original and remembered a great deal of the basics. These new writers didn't.

It's stupid, some fans on IMDB are suggesting different writers/directors who probably know smack either about it. Even after it was the lowest rated. Even if it was horribly written by writers who weren't true to the original. It would be stupid to revive it, and worse, by anyone who just has the "name". If anyone is to revive this, it would be Darren Star, or someone who was there for the "Bulk" of seasons 4-7 of the later episodes. The early ones really mean smack since all the BIG originals left in seasons 4-7.

So, no, if Star and his team didn't want part in this revival the first time around, it's not gonna happen, and there's no use petitioning to bring it back by a "Big" name who might/might not be a BIG fan of the original.

Charles Pratt, Jr. he wrote "Who's Afraid Of Amanda Woodward Pt I/II" he also wrote "Asses To Ashes". In all honesty, he should have been the ONLY original writer to return, as he wrote these two "MAJOR EPISODES" of the later seasons.

Carol Mendelshon, who wrote a lot of the episodes, including the MAJOR "Big Bang Theory Pt I/II" should have also been back to write for the new series if not just Pratt. These two were a BIG part of the later seasons. Darren Star was only there several years, as was Frank South, but they weren't there towards the end, and who knows if they religiously followed the show after they left.

Episodes 1 at least should have been written by Slavkin/Swimmer and very minorly written by Charles Pratt (dealing with Sydney/Michael), and whenever they needed help with old characters, they could have called Pratt in to write along with one of the writers of a particular episode. If that had happened, it would have been a lot better, and I bet things would have went a lot differently. Pratt would have never allowed any of those stories to happen between Michael/Syd, or if he did, it would have been a lot different.

If Pratt were there to write the return scenes of all the past MP residents who were back, every scene with them would have been a lot better because Pratt knew the characters. He was there from seasons 5-7 and knew everything about them. He wrote AND directed the series finale, and he would have been a good aid to Swimmer/Slavkin. Who knows if the two contacted any former writers of it, but if I were a high up and in charge to produce the show, even if I'm a big MP fan or if I'm not, I would want to have the aid of a past writer from the series to steer me in the right direction, especially one that wrote TWO episodes that the new writing team did draw some facts from in their own way, yet ruined everything by making up lies and having everything not believable. So it's a soap people say, it's supposed to be like that. MP was MP. There were fans who followed it. Unless this whole series was a "Dream" sequence of Amanda's or something, as one person suggested on IMDB, then I'd buy it. But it doesn't look like it was one.

I liked parts of the show, but they never got as crazy as the original.

If you're going to remake Melrose Place, you gotta make it insane from the start. They tried, but they wound up making it boring a lot of the time. Too much melodrama. >_<

The original show is being re-run in Germany at the moment so I came here today to check what happened to the remake.

I remember reading a while back about Sydney's return. How they came up with this strange story about how she faked her death, only to kill her off again right in the first episode.
I really did not need to read more to know that this show can only suck big time. So the early cancelation does not come as a surprise to me.
I really wonder what the writers/producers/actors were thinking??? Everything I read on here sounds crazier than crazy. Every fan of the show could have written better storylines than all those ones which were written bei professionals. I don't get it.
