Oh dear, Tara is about to die. I barely made it through Joyce's death. This may be too much, too soon....

Ah, the good 'ole days. Did anyone read the Buffy S8 comic? Apparently, it's coming out on DVD/BLU as a motion comic, sadly, read by others who are not cast members...

Different voices? I am definitely not going to watch then...
But hey, maybe it'll come out in Germany and the dubbing actors will still be the same, that would be great.
Regarding S5 of Buffy: It's still my favorite. I thought Glory was a great villian.
I watched the pilot episode (both parts) and the Amy episode yesterday on German tv. My husband and I tuned in by coincidence while the opening credits were rolling. I told my hubby that the pilot of Buffy is very, very good and he wanted to watch it. He has not seen Buffy before, only like 2 or 3 episodes.
It was difficult for me to watch the show in German but it was okay. I had to laugh cause Buffy talks to Angel in the polite way ("Sie" instead of "du"). Have you guys ever studied French or Spanish? Are you familiar with the using of "vouz" and "usted"? So that's how Buffy talks to Angel in the dubbed version, too funny for words...I guess it's because he's older and a stranger. But it's still very weird.

I can't believe so many of the same posters are still here!!! That's amazing. It's been like, 6 years??? More??? Awesome! It makes me happy to know we're all still thinking about BTVS!

Buffy? Polite? haha
But, yes, I studied French so I know what you mean. That's kinda cute actually haha.

I can't handle watching that episode. It always makes me feel so numb and cold...
But yeah Tara's death is not good either...why did Joss have to kill off so many of his great characters?
Joyce, Tara, Anya, Jenny Calendar...
Take care,
Best wishes:
Karin
Oh, it was awful. I tried to be strong but I broke down a few times, especially when Buffy opens the door and Joyce isn't there because Dawn ripped up the picture. The way she says "Mommy?" so full of hope always breaks my heart.
Yes! All the good characters are killed off. To be honest, during my first run of Buffy, I couldn't stand Tara but I grew to love her during a few rewatches and her death always kills me too. That scene was just so powerful, so unreal. You're used to seeing demons and such but never something so real like a gun. Buffy and Tara getting shot was just too real. It's disturbing.
Concerning Anya, at least she was killed in the final episode. I'm very proud of her actually haha I was like "Oh, she's so sweet." But, I watched "Selfless" last night (my favourite episode of season seven) and burst into tears because I remembered she died this season. After Faith, she is definitely my favourite.

Okay, my rewatch has ended. I'm still crying. I forgot how brutal Anya's death was *sob*
And I learned that a shell Faith is better than no Faith at all, ha!

As I said in THE WIRE thread I watched the S2 opener yesterday.
Afton..pls tell me. what's so good about this show? I saw the pilot and I watched the S2 opener. And both times I nearly died of boredom...really...this show is killing me.
Hi BretEwing, welcome back!

To be honest, I had to watch about five episodes of season one before I got into it. Unless you love that type of show, it will not suck you in right away. You have to give it more than one episode, Christine
9 out of 10 pilots of awesome shows suck ha

I am so relieved to hear it took you some time to get into "The Wire", Afton.
So it's not just me. They show is hard to get into.
Yes...I will give the show another try...but it's hard. I was really very bored.
I know it often takes time to get into a new show...so many shows have weak pilots or even weak first seasons. But I am not as patient anymore as I used to be....I dunno...but it's really hard for me these days to like a new show. I was bored with Mad Men..I was bored with The Good Wife and I am sure both shows are great and all....it's just me..I am getting old..whatever.

haha Remember that Buffy had a pretty weak first season
-
Yes but I saw season 5 first and then after the S5 finale I went back and watched it from day one...during the hiatus...so I actually really enjoyed season 1 of Buffy. When you know the characters already and you already love the show it's easier to watch a weak first season. Today I actually totally love S1. I love how the characters are still so young and innocent.

I'm amazed how chubby SMG is in Season One
Compared to how she is now.
-
Yeah she totally is kind of chubby! The same in S2. You have to re-watch the S3 opener with that Anne chick...well the girl that later "becomes" Ann. SMG looks totally fat next to her.
I think she changed her look in S4..she also got extensions in S4.
I noticed that during my last re-run. It's not her real hair.

She was adorable in season three with the little pastels and shirts and sweaters haha. I agree with you when you say a lot of that was intentional as to show the contrast between her and Faith.
OH! I actually clapped and laughed out loud when I was finishing season seven the other day. I love how that classic scene where Buffy and Faith were grinding with the guys at The Bronze in season three is "re-lived" of sorts
When they cut to The Bronze and Faith is dancing with like five guys it's classic. I was like "Go Faith!" haha. Totally forgot about that scene.
