Any new developments?
There's nothing new anywhere on the web. I'm hoping this does not fall by the wayside like the Dallas movie. Perhaps Pamela or one of the people with connections has some inside knowledge.
I'm going to guess that news will probably be slow with the holidays upon us, but perhaps dribs and drabs will trickle out.
Yeah. I hope they either confirm or reject soon. The suspense is killing me!
It's confirmed.
Joan Rivers has signed on to play Miss Ellie.
"If someone wants to punch me in the mouth , then stand up and do it "
Joan Rivers is going to play Miss Ellie..OH no..
I hope Linda Gray, Patrick Duffy or Larry will sign on. I miss them on Nighttime
TV. It would be fun seeing them again.
Hope they come up with news soon.
Seriously though, does anybody know when we actually are to hear about any developments on this? Are we to find out soon or was it not mentioned in this years line up?
I think it would be very unfair to say they are making a new Dallas and then don't.
So my guess is that, they're putting considerable thought into things like cast, scripts, locations, various aspects/elements etc, for the show...Well I hope so.
So I can't see them sharing any news until this is established.
Also, maybe the reason for the silence right now, is so the idea they have for the show is not wavered, which could happen, if they give us something to chew on..
Give us here @soapchat an exclusive titbit.

DALLAS VIDEO GAME----------------------------------CGI DALLAS MOVIE
I would definitely like a big yay or nay on the whole thing, absolutely-if it's not going to happen it needs to be laid to rest so those of us who had been very excited about it can stop getting our hopes up and move on to other things.
My guess is that the new writer is writing now and likely going through some rewrites as well. She probably got cracking after the holidays. Or at least one would think that was the case.
Just so this online, no Dallas pick up then as yet, hope this doesnt mean they have changed their minds!
TNT has ordered a slate of new series including a Steven Spielberg-produced alien invasion drama and George Clooney's offbeat comedy "Delta Blues."
The cable network has also picked up "Rizzoli & Isles," an adaptation of the popular Jane Rizzoli-Maura mystery novels by Tess Gerritsen. TNT has ordered 10 episodes of each project.
The untitled Spielberg drama stars Noah Wyle as the leader of a rag-tag group of soldiers and civilians struggling against an occupying extra-terrestrial force. Spielberg will executive produce alongside DreamWorks Television heads Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank and screenwriter Robert Rodat.
Jason Lee will return to prime-time TV in "Delta Blues," a series following a Memphis cop who lives with his mother and moonlights as an Elvis impersonator. George Clooney andGrant Heslov will executive produce with Liz W. Garcia, who wrote the script with Joshua Harto.
Then there's "Rizzoli & Isles," about a pair of female crime-busters played by Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander. Janet Tamaro and Bill Haber executive produce.
TNT plans to premiere "Delta" and "Rizzoli" later this year, while Spielberg's alien project will debut in 2011. Orders come on the heels of the recent renewals for first-year comedic drama "Men of a Certain Age" and a third season of "Leverage
I saw that too and it made me kinda begin to believe it wasn't gonna happen. My hopes have officially now gone on the downswing. I suppose it shouldn't be a surprise-I never thought it would fit on TNT. The only thing I ever saw realistically happening was that they do it on CW like the others, although I guess the reason that hasn't been done is because it's even older for their young audience and so they're not interested. If they do consider, I could see it having a lot better chance there actually-they seem to have longer seasons and more longevity to their shows, even with smaller ratings-the whole network is so low-rated that they're satisfied with less, yet it seems to be wide-reaching enough that most shows still have longer runs there than on cable channels. I actually came up with a great pitch today, if anyone here knows how to reach the right people with those types of ideas I'd love it, I think this is one that network would eat up. But I digress-if it's truly not to happen then I am somewhat let down, yes, because even though it could be screwed up badly, it could be a really good thing and I guess I felt like it was potentially so good that it was definitely worth trying.
Well that is disappointing but remember the idea of it was to make a movie pilot. It's not a full blown series hence it wouldn't be ordered in as a TV series.
That's the only thing i'm clinging to. If it doesn't happen it doesn't happen but this would be the 2nd time this has happened with the DALLAS property.
I'll be the optimist after reading that article and say that they haven't ordered the new Dallas series "yet" because a pilot script hasn't been completed, and TNT is going to wait to see the pilot script and/or pilot itself before making any decisions.

If any of the insiders here can confirm or deny if this is dead or not, it would sure be the right time. It seems all but dead right about now, with the various channels starting to say what they're working on for next season and this not showing up anywhere.
I'm surprised we have not heard anything about this yet. Is it a dead issue? It would be a relief to hear what is going on with it. I hope they go ahead with the pilot at least because I've been dieing to see a reunion movie for years!.
Well, in possibly somewhat related news, it is starting to make the rumor mill that the new Melrose Place is not going to make it to next year, while 90210 will probably go on. So this leaves us 50/50 I guess on the success of these revived primetime soaps-I guess it is gonna be a judgment call for anyone who ever does think about greenlighting this after all. It certainly still has a chance due to the success of 90210, but on the other hand everyone knows it could flop like Melrose. So, I guess right now we can still hope, though it's certainly not good news, I guess it doesn't have to be bad either-I mean, people might have become burned out and tired by the time Dallas showed up again with two others on the air, maybe this leaves enough room for it to do well, it really could go either way I suppose. I still hope it happens but I guess we all have to be a lot more realistic now-and it most certainly spells doom for anyone hoping to also get Knots, Dynasty, or Falcon Crest revivals. But if all you care about like me is Dallas, then we can still hope I think.
Interesting news. I wonder how some diehards take to the idea of a DALLAS revival done in the style similar to The Sopranos. A darker series that really gets at the core of the characters and holding nothing back at all.
I guess this would be best suited to its own thread but it's something that I think should be thought about when doing a revival of DALLAS as it was more then just a nighttime soap. It was a show that appealed to EVERYONE then again, going in a dark Sopranos style would alienate a lot of folks as well.
Oh well....
Thanks for that info Cliff Barnes.
Well, if it isn't going to be a series, I certainly hope they at least do the pilot as another reunion, either the last one or first in a series of them-I think a reunion or two every year would be find and dandy if they had someone good doing them like Cynthia might turn out to be. If the due date has passed for it to be a new series this season, it could at least debut as a stand alone film later in the year. It would certainly be nice, better than any feature would be-if it's all we can hope for now I think it would do nicely.
