Default Whats your favorite era ?

TV seasons, not the DVD seasons. I particularly liked seasons 1-3 leading up to when JR was shot by kristin. Seasons 4-7 I also liked, leading up to Bobbys departure, but it was getting a little stale by then. Season 8, the dream season, was an era on its own and people either love it or hate it. I didnt particularly like it at the time, but I may change my opinion after watching it again on dvd. Seasons 9-11 saw the departure of many of the favorite original characters including Pam & Sue Ellen. Seasons 12-13, well what can I say...........erm...........probably nothing complimentary, so I wont say anything.
What was your favorite era ? Its multiple choice folks.

    Default Hi

My favorite seasons on DVD were seasons two and three. I loved all the
SE stuff and how her charater evolved and the battles with J.R. I Loved all the Jock and Ellie scenes. It was all good. I also liked Pam and Bobby!

Series 2 original is my all time fav ever series

The lost Child, Rodeo, Mastectomy - all time fav episode, there was hardly a dud all season and ending with the historic cliff hanger Who shot JR? To be a Dallas fan in 1980 was so exciting and the best time, it dominated the press and TV and magazines.

Series 1 - 6 is my fav era for Dallas with S3 being the weakest link out of them all (Leslie Stewart, Clint and Alex etc) Loved The Search, Acceptance in S4 and loved the fight for ewing Oil and Miss Ellie contesting Jocks will.

Then its followed by S8 (dream) Hip hip Hooray! BBG is back!

S9/10 comes next but Pammy leaving is beginning of the end
Have never watched S13/final ever again and have no wish too, no one left and it wasnt Dallas and i so missed Miss Ellie from it!

11 and 12 were mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, not that good and for some reason (someone was missing ) S7 is also not a series I watch other than last 2 episodes.

As much as I like Season 2 (S3 per DVD count) leading up to "Who Shot JR?", my favorite era is S4 thru S7 (S5 thru S8 per DVD count). Oh, sure, Sue Ellen at the Southern Cross was slow, but after Jock died, the pace really picked up. The battle over Jock's will is, to me, the epicentre of the entire series, followed by the moody and cinematic refractory period of S6 (which closed with Bobby being shot.)
The only drawback about S7 was Mis-Ellie, Donna Reed, whose presence created a kind of pall over the entire year.

I really liked the middle years (DVD seasons 5 through 11). If I had to choose a favorite....DVD season six. WOW. Drama, drama, drama. Suspense.

for me it is 1-3, the second season of dallas is still my all time favourite! i picked 4-7 too, not that i liked 7 so much ( i thought it was a dull season ) but 4 to 6 are very good, i always consider season 1 to 6 as the golden years of dallas!

    Definitely 1-3. My reasons include:

    - the Pam & Bobby/ Romeo & Juliet emphasis
    - JR & Sue Ellen's marriage seemed more real. JR wasn't as evil, and Sue Ellen wasn't as saintly as they wound up being later
    - Jock, as little as I liked him, really was the "Big Daddy" of the show. Understanding Jock=understanding Dallas.
    - the Cliff vs. JR thing wasn't stale yet. in seasons 1-3, the feud really was dramatic. in later seasons and Cliff is trying to use Mandy against JR, I wound up feeling like "whatever Cliff. It won't work, but you go ahead and try that."

Late early to mid-period seasons were my favourite (3-8). Some stories in Season 2 were great though, particularly Black Market Baby and The Red Files, which were my favourites, but I thought the first two seasons still lacked the continuity of later seasons, because each story were separate or in pairs.

Dallas peaked at Season 6 for me, my favourite season, with a slight dip at season 4, not at all helped by Pam's poodle perm, and it then maintained its credibility to season 8 - episode 17 being my favourite, with that brilliant slap round the face freezeframe ending, which sent shivers down my spine. But the rot starts to set in from season 9 with that ludicrous Emerald mine storyline, not helped at all by Victoria's lip plumper that made her mouth go all funny. Season 10 with that ridiculous Wes Parmelee story and Jenna's post Bobby RIP blues ruined what was otherwise a very good season.

The only light on the horizon with later seasons was Sue Ellen's meteoric rise as a businesswoman, which made a change from her cyclical role as bored downtrodden drunken wife and mother, illicit lover phases, happy with JR spells, separate bedroom and divorce etc.

As sad as it sounds I loved every season including the dream season!! I have however voted for seasons 1-3 as I really enjoyed the relationship between Jock and his sons.

My favorite era would have to be seasons 1-3, as I enjoy nearly every storyline and I think some of the show’s best episodes come in these seasons. In the later years, I tend to like individual seasons/episodes more than the eras as a whole.

Seasons 4-7. I watch those episodes far more than the rest.

My favorites were 1-3, plus the 5 part Mini. I loved the storylines best during those seasons, as they dealt with "real" issues and not so much the "over the top" plots. Jim Davis was still part of the show and I loved his character.

I think for me the early seasons was ok, For me a little boring but still Dallas. I voted for the later season as for again it had more drama and storylines I rather watch. I still watch the occastional early season episode.
