Cheryl Ladd has revealed that she is still upset that she was not asked to take part in a Charlie's Angels reunion at the 2006 Emmy Awards.
The actress replaced Farrah Fawcett after she left the show in 1977 and portrayed her Jill Munro character's younger sister Kris on the hit series until it was cancelled in 1981.
Ladd has insisted that former co-star Kate Jackson cut her from the reunion with Fawcett and Jaclyn Smith to honour late TV producer Aaron Spelling, which reunited all three original Angels for the first time in close to thirty years, Contactmusic reports.
"I think Kate made the decision for everybody that this is how it was going to be. I was the outsider," she told TV Guide.
The Las Vegas star revealed that she and Fawcett, who died from cancer last Thursday, were never close.
She added: "She was a little surprised how well the show did after she left, so we both chose to be 100 per cent professional."
Last week, Ladd said that she was "terribly sad" at the passing of the 62-year-old TV icon.

I didn't realise Cheryl's appearance was on the cards too. I just thought they chose the original line-up.
It would have been the icing on the cake to have Cheryl there - especially as she was in four of the five seasons. In terms of longevity on the show, she came second only to Jaclyn Smith, so it would have made sense for Cheryl to appear also.
I've recently been re-watching Season 3, in which Farrah returned for three of the episodes - the first time she worked with Cheryl. And the 4 angels all work really well together IMO.
It always saddens me to hear of the backstage imbroglios on the series. The on-screen chemistry is so amazing that I still find it hard to believe that Kate resented and was hostile towards Cheryl for replacing her friend Farrah. Especially as Sabrina is my favourite angel.![]()

Yes, it's true.
Cheryl Ladd has repeatedy mentioned over the years how Kate Jackson treated her when she replaced Farrah Fawcett. And Kate Jackson has never denied it. The words CL has used are "cold" and "distant" in reference to KJ.
Oh this old news, Kate Jackson was openly hostile toward Cheryl Ladd from day one. If you want the full and very unpleasant details read the full Charlies Angels production story , it's a big huge book detailing all the seasons and all the production tales with interviews with more or less everyone , it's a fascinating read . No one comes out of it particularly well except Shelley Hack who became my favourite Angel after reading the book![]()
"If someone wants to punch me in the mouth , then stand up and do it "
p.s Theres a whole thread somewhere where I posted portions of the comments about how Jackson treated Ladd . Jackson was by all accounts very very unhappy and when you have an unhappy lead you have an unhappy set. Ironically Jacyln Smith didn't have the best relationship with Hack unlike Ladd who welcomed her " with open arms " . In general not a happy production.

During Jacksons "Scarecrow and Mrs. King" days I kept hearing that Kate and Bruce Boxleitner did not get along at all. And now I am reading about the troubled work relationship betwen Cheryl Ladd and Kate Jackson. Interesting.
KJ didn't get along with ANYBODY!
Originally, "Charlie's Angels" was supposed to have KJ as the lead with the other two being supporting characters - but then the 'Farrah craze' hit and it didn't turn out that way.
I have to disagree about that CL should have been at the AP tribute. The original three Angels were the best and although CL DID do a great job and was on the show longer tha KJ, the original trio is what (most) fans will remember.

It's funny how many Spelling shows had behind-the-scenes drama. I'm not sure about the actors, but I've read he wasn't very kind to his writers.

Spelling's designer Nolan Miller said Kate Jackson was not good to work with, pointing out that she "seems so cute and likeable" on camera, "but she's not".
Some producers also slam Hack, who they say became very diva-like once she'd gotten the job. Jaclyn Smith was very professional to work with by nearly all reports, so if even she didn't get along with Hack either...
Instead of hiring Hack or Tanya Roberts, who were disaster from Day One, they should have hired a frothy, sexy black angel in 1979. But Spelling was never going to that.
The shows success as a phenomenon that first year was down to fawcett largely while the continuing success was generally attributed to ladd , the ratings went up when she joined so you can see the different perspectives.
As I recall Jackson made life so unpleasant for ladd that she would hang out with the crew and cites david doyle for getting her through her first season. Smith was typically non comittal about the problems in the book saying she liked both of them however production was halted for half a day and producers called in to try and work out a way forward .
Ladd says that in the end she had to reconcile the fact that " one day kate was speaking to me the next day she wasn't"
Hard to believe watching the show
Producers interviewed said jackson was unhappy with the entire show and that made her very difficult. She especially disliked the glamour and would often refuse to wear anything other than her polo neck and jeans.
Smith criticises Hack for trying to be a good actressladd points out that the show was basically " **** " and you don't try and approach it as a script with subtext.
Hack did not own a television set . On day one of filming the producer asked her if she was nervous , she said no why would I be ? They realised then she had no idea what a big deal it was and apparently she kept her dignity through all the backlash and according to the book wasn't particularly hurt when she was axed. They all say that time has shown she could act. Ladd blames the writers and says hack was not given anything to work with.
Lol she could have jiggled a bit I guess

I've read Barney Rosenzweig's book "Cagney & Lacey....and Me", an account of how he got the show off the ground. Barney worked on "Charlie's Angels" for a while and developed a friendship with the three original actresses. He agreed with them that the women should be smarter and given better scripts. Spelling and his partner, Goldberg, did not agree. Barney says there was a lot of psychological warfare going on behind the scenes between the producers and their employees. He wanted out.
Barney writes:
"Christmas had come. I received my corporate gift from the company. It was a large glass urn filled with walnuts--perhaps a hundred pounds' worth. I removed the card, replaced it with one of my own, and sent the vase to agent Broder. The new card read: 'Spelling and Goldberg have been chipping away at my nuts for the past four months; here's your commission.'"
Lol oh I love love that book its the best of its kind , frank , detailed and painfully honest .
Gless , daly and rosenweig had a few ups and downs but it was all love for the show and each other underneath.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough I read it cover to cover in 3 days on a beach in barcalona last year.
Aka how I learned to stop worrying and love the blonde
"If someone wants to punch me in the mouth , then stand up and do it "
Forgot to say that in the Angels book it details the Roseinweig period.
Essentially what happened was this-
They made a really good pilot that was character driven and a bit slow for most people.
They went to series and re tooled it but Rosenweig wasn't happy with the quality of the scripts.
The ratings kept going up and Barney R said the show was a hit DESPITE being awful , whereas Spelling and the network said it was a hit BECAUSE it was awful and therefore pls do more jiggle less script and make sure the girls are chained up and\ or wet for at least one scene per ep .
And so Barney left to make a different show about angels called Cagney and Lacey.

I always thought Cheryl Ladd was the forgotten Angel, glad to hear she feels the same way. Her and Farrah were my favorites on the show, and I love the episodes they got to work together.
As for Kate Jackson, I am surprised she is so many people's favorite. Don't get me wrong, I liked her, but I like Farrah ,Cheryl, Jacklyn, and also Shelly better than her. As for Tanya Roberts..well..she just sucked....
***Side note***Am I the only one who thought they should have made Sabrina a lesbian? I always got that vibe from her.

After FF left the show, an angel of color should have been brought on and the show could have been more like this!

Some people are so stupid, they don't even realize their preference for blondes is because...... they're blonde.
I'm just saying.... Techincally.

Cheryl was more of an Angel than Farrah. Are we not in that sitution where she is dead and its all 'poor Farrah'.
I preferred Cheryl, I always thought she had more personality. I hated the add on Angels at the end. It was funny when they had their flashback episodes and those new Angels would be acting like they cared. Poor things.
