Default Carpenter heading for the Big Screen...at last!

The Expendables is lining up to be one of the most impressive action movies of all time. With a cast that brags Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke and Forest Whitaker (not to mention that on-again off-again rumor of Ahnold putting in an appearance), how could it not absolutely rock? For all of those muscles, however, there’s not much out there for male viewers in the way of “sexy,” and you know you have to have some sexy women for an action flick to truly excel. It sounds like the movie may have found that, in the form of one of my favorite television babes.

TV Guide is reporting that Buffy the Vampire Slayer alumn Charisma Carpenter is joining the cast of The Expendables. The actress hasn’t done much outside of the realm of television, but it sounds like she’s making the leap into the action flick, where she will play Jason Statham’s hot girlfriend. Here’s hoping she gets abducted or turns into the big bad of the movie - something a little more substantial than a couple of clips of her in bed with Statham.

Carpenter is best known for the role of Cordelia Chase on Buffy (and, subsequently, Angel) where she got the chance to look good and kick butt on several occasions. I’ve always been surprised movie directors weren’t grabbing her up to do more - hell, if Sarah Michelle Gellar could get theatrical work, Carpenter should be getting so many offers she’s turning people down. I hope this is the start of something great for the former Cordelia.

Great News found courtesy of Cinematical & Cinemablend.

Lots of old men and Cordelia: what's not to love?

And Forest Whittaker in an action movie?? Colour me intrigued.

Default Angel Goodbye Scene helped Carpenter bag Stallone Movie!

Yes that final scene in Angel's 100th episode that gave us all an emotional breakdown is bringing the Charismaticness to the big screen!

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Did you have to read for Stallone?
CHARISMA CARPENTER: Yeah, I had to earn it. I had to earn it big time. I think they were filming the process of making The Expendables, and so my audition and him telling me I got the part was all taped. First we met, and he said a lot of people were auditioning for the role but they were too tough. "I really want you to convey the softness, that you want to connect with this person." He was talking about the scene, and I said, "I want to show you a scene I did with David in 'You're Welcome' [the season 5 episode of Angel in which Cordelia dies]. The tenderness, I think I know exactly what you're looking for. Wait, I'll be back in 10 minutes. Donovan, come on." 'Cause I had to bring him that day. So they said, "You can leave Donovan here with us if it'll make you go faster." [Laughs] So I go, and I come back, and I show that scene at the end -- the kiss when I leave -- and he punches me in the arm like "Good job... But you still have to read though." Then he called me in the middle of the afternoon, and I had my son again, and he said, "We were gonna have you come tonight and read for it," and I went. The next day, I'm driving my kid to school, my hair is in a bun, I have no makeup on, Ugg boots, oversized jeans and like a thermal shirt, and I get this call from his assistant. "I have Sly for you." Okay. He said, "We want you to come into the office right now." "Um, okay, well, can I just have like a half an hour? Can I at least brush my teeth?" "No, we want you to come now." So I call my manager, I'm like, "They want me to come now." "I can't believe they want you to come now. What if you didn't get the job, and then they're gonna tell you?" I'm like, "I don't think he would do that." I hang up and go in. Stallone's like, "So, how do you think you did?" I'm like, "Well it really doesn't matter how I think I did, it only matters what you think. How did I do?" He goes, "No, I want to know. How did you think you did?" And I said, "Well, I think I nailed it." And he goes, "You did. You got the part." And I went, "[Shouts] Yes!... Are you sh--in' me right now? You're not f---ing kidding me right now, right?" He said, "No, I'm dead serious." I jumped up, and I gave him a big hug. It was the best news. For me, it's like my first bona fide film that's gonna see the masses. I'm thrilled. I don't even want it to be over.

Forget sunshine, what you need a blast of this Summer is the Charismaticness - right up there in all her cinematic glory!

Just back from seeing the movie with the lads because its the kind of movie you have to see with the guys. It's everything you'd expect from a movie written & directed by Sylvester Stallone but its good fun on a Friday night. Charisma has a small but pivotal role, I'm writing to Stallone now just to make sure that he knows that she learnt to fight while making ANGEL so he can up her role in the sequel. Cause you just know there is going to be a sequel.

It really was exciting. I must admit I did give a little cheer when I saw her name up there in the opening with DOLPH LUNDGREN & MICKEY ROURKE!

Good News - The Charismaticness has just tweeted me (okay she tweeted everybody) to announce that she is back for The Expendables 2. I tweeted to congratulate her and she replied back which is just the best thing to happen to me online since I had that conversation with Barbara Parkins on Facebook. Well she turned out to be fake but the Charismaticness definitely isn't!

Bad News - We all have to go & see The Expendables 2!

    This is fantastic news!

At the convention she said that she would NOT be in the second movie. She said there has been a lot of back and forth talk about it. She would be in the movie, she would not be in, etc. Then the final decision was made, she would not come back for the second movie.
I am very happy to hear they have changed their minds again!

Yeah she said that it was finally confirmed only 3 weeks ago. She begins filming in the next weeks days and has scenes with the whole gang this time which suggests a slightly bigger role for her. She is going straight from filming a new tv series to the set of The Expendables 2 so she's busy which is great to hear.

So I was lucky that she was not very busy in 2011. Actors only come to conventions when they are out of work.

Can you imagine how terrible this film is gloing to be Ever since that hateful commentary when Whdeon revealed that he and Fred and Wes spent Sundays doing Shakespeare readings, we have all dreaded this nightmare. It's here folks. The horror has arrived.
