Clint Ritchie (Clint Buchanan #01) died in his sleep today,
Though I never cared for CB too much, CR was the best out of the two.

This says that he died on Saturday morning.

Do soaps acknowledge the death of ex-castmembers? If so, I'm sure OLTL will have a tribute for Clint.
Since there is Clint No. #02, I doubt that there will be anything for CR.
He didn't leave the show on good terms with a lot of people when he left some years ago (word has it he was VERY difficult to deal with).

This news totally shocked me when i went to soapcentral.com. I will always remember him as Viki's longest running (so far) husband. I kind of grew up with Viki and Clint as my TV parents. so to me, this is very shocking. he will be missed but as can find comfort by going to Youtube and finding old Viki/Clint scenes that he was in. They have tons of them.
I know OLTL won't do a tribute on the show but I'm sure the soap magazines comming out for next week will talk about him a little.
What sad news!

I absolutely loved Clint and his character, almost a year later I am still sad he and Phil are gone, they were absolutely my favorites.
That is sad news, I liked Clint.
Though CR did die about a year ago, I think Jerry Ver Dorn is doing a great job carrying the Clint character forward. The chemistry between him and Melissa Archer's Natalie is especially notable.
I think JvD is great!

He is not bad, I'll give him that, he is probably the best replacement they could have found. The direction now seems to be having him be more like Asa, however I find that tricky as I have to wonder if that really would have happened with CR in the role. It does make sense that they feel he is the right character to fill the Asa void, and I suppose it's plausible, but Clint as he was was also a great character, and if he is going to get back with Vicki at some point as is rumored, I think he would have to be more like his old self for that to work. So, I don't know how they will sort of work it out, but, maybe they will, I guess that's what the show needs.
Interesting, on "Days of our Lives", they killed off the character of "Mickey Horton", even though all actors who played him are still alive.
They did have pictures and flashbacks of the original Mickey on the show. Guess they got tired of saying "Mickey was away, etc", and not as many court scenes as they used to have.
I don't watch Days, but from what I understand, this is yet another step toward pushing Maggie Horton into prominence. With Frances Reid getting closer to...um, retirement and Deidre Hall's Marlena no longer an issue, Suzanne Rogers is poised to assume more of the town matriarch role.
Back to topic, though: I really don't like this whole "Oh, Clint's acting more like Asa" nonsense they like to inject into the show lately. I see no need for an Asa-like character. Clint has every right to be pissed off at Bo and Nora (Bora!) and his sarcastic jabs are fun, since they ARE such self-righteous hypocrites who need to be knocked down a peg.
But he doesn't need to be grabbing the shotgun every time he gets angry.
Well, me, yeah like I said, I would like Clint to stay Clint. However I did love Asa and I do think he was a crucial part of the show, basically he was like JR and I just loved him really, to me he was the show. So I do think they need someone to be like Asa, but they don't get it doesn't have to be the patriarch, it could be a younger guy causing trouble. They could have CJ Roberts come back and be like that since he's blood and he could have the same personality, or they could try to make Kevin like that, rewrite him into it, or Joey, though I doubt they would given how they've developed them.
Could be. Maggie has actually had much screen time over the past several months, and her home has turned into a hangout for her grandson and 2 other early 20 somethings, Maggie is kind of "the housemother".
Francis Reid will never be back as Alice Horton, and they even mentioned how "Alice is so frail now, how will she take the news?" Will be curious to see how they work her into the funeral scenes.
