Brilliant News! I wonder if this also means we're getting in Ireland too? I hope the artwork looks good!

That's very good news. I wonder if they'll try for a bonus feature of some kind.

It has been an eternity coming but at long last the ball is rolling. Nonetheless the pilot ‘The Vintage Years’ being omitted at this point would IMHO seem to be a short sighted move. Surely its inclusion (technicalities aside) could only add to sales?

Julia is having a glass of red wine, in the kitchen of the Gioberti castle mansion. There is a party happening and she is in the company of Gus, (a scene from season 1, 1981-’82):

Julia takes another taste of the wine.

    Gus: “What do you think?”

Julia: “It’s interesting! I’m surprised. I had no idea that Uncle Jason had a private reserve.”

Gus: “He did make that much.”

    Julia: “Hmm. It’s a shame.”

Julia then looks at the red wine bottle and says, “Tell me about this label. It looks so primitive.”

Gus: “He designed it himself. I think he was trying to say something.”

Julia laughs while replying, “He certainly didn’t want any part of Falcon Crest, did he?”

She continues: “I guess no one was as close to him than you.”

Gus: “He’d only let me get so close. Then he would stare as if he never seen me. I think he knew he was going to die. I still don’t understand how it really happened?”

Julia: “He was drunk. He drove his truck, off a cliff.”

    Gus: “So everyone says!”

Julia looks into Gus’ face and replies, “so everyone says!” She then walks off, into the living room.

HOORAY! Crack open a bottle of something nice and fruity! Slap on the shoulder pads! This is fabulous news. I only hope there are regional editions which will play in the UK and Ireland!

Sounds good, though of course we've heard all this before ...

Well, I checked that out for us, and apparently, according to the site, the upcoming release of the first season's worth of "Falcon Crest" will be a barebones release-- no bonuses whatsoever, just the episodes.

Is this only for a German release, or is this also about an American release?

Its not on tvshowsondvd and in the Warner chat a few weeks back I thought they said they had no plans to release FC but announced Knots Landing.

Can someone recall what was said?

I'm not familiar with the show at all, but I'd take this piece of information with a pinch of salt. The "official" announcement the board of directors of a German fansite got could very well be nothing more than a joke in very bad taste. What means do these people have to check that the e-mail they got was legitimate? It sounds even more doubtful since it was specified during the Warner chat last September that the release of this particular show would depend on KNOTS LANDING's success. While other studios have certainly done it, it seems unusual to me for Warner to release a "Season 1" in Region 2 before Region 1. They usually test the waters in the US first. Some shows have proven more popular in Europe, though (WITHOUT A TRACE has been released up to Season 4 in Europe, while it stalled after Season 2 sales were deemed insufficient in the US). It also looks fishy to me that a precise release date was not provided this far into January, given that companies draw their schedules months in advance.

Anyway, my basic word of advice is: don't get your hopes up until you have more solid info to rely on. I sincerely hope for you fans that it's not just a bad joke.

If it is a joke in bad taste, I will be utterly disappointed. If the Germans tease us like this and then don't deliver the goods, then something will have to be looked into as being utterly fishy.

Lets hope its true, but there is a possibility the German WB are confusing it with Knots Landing.

I'm just surprised its not on TVshowsonDVD. I can ask a contact a WB if it is indeed the case.

Good thinking. Hopefully it is. I haven't seen the series in more than a fortnight. Hopefully this pans out, not only for German fans, but for us here in America and for you in England. When I saw the heading "Official DVD Release," it immediately got my hopes up. I hope, as I said before, that it wasn't a bad joke.

This is fantastic news, I can hardly believe it! Falcon Crest's release on dvd is long overdue, I can't wait to get my hands on a copy.
