Snoop Dogg to Appear on ONE LIFE TO LIVE & Remix Theme
This repulses me! I CANNOT stand him! OLTL is supposed to be about social change -- and he has done nothing but hinder it by being a disgusting example by claiming to be a good father while being arrested for drugs multiple times!

Snoop Dogg is bringing some street cred to "One Life to Live." The 36-year-old rapper will make an extended cameo on the ABC soap opera to perform two songs from his new album, "Ego Trippin'," at the Ultra Violet club in the town of Llanview, the network said Thursday.
Snoop's episodes will air May 8 and May 9, and feature his re-mixed version of the show's theme song. He will also act in scenes.
"I've been a fan of `One Life to Live' since I was a baby," said Snoop, who's set to perform "Sensual Seduction" and "Life of Da Party."
"My momma always had it on the tube in tha crib growing up. The opportunity to change up the theme song and give it some of my flavor will make the show the Life of The Party."
Mary J. Blige, Nelly Furtado, Chris Botti, Erykah Badu, Timbaland and Keri Hilson have also performed on the show.

I hate it. They've done this too much, too often, and it defeats any purprose.

What is the big deal? The soaps have been known for these musical performances since the 80s. I think the big ruckus with Snoop is simply because he's a rapper and the people complaining simply don't like rap or his music. If Jewel were producing a new theme song and performing on OLTL, I doubt we'd have any complaints.
Let's wait and hear what he has created before jumping all over him. If you look at how diverse his music is, there is no telling how this is going to sound. The current theme soap is so generic that this is bound to be a step up, IMO. Anything would be.

Oh, I like a few of his songs. But I also like the theme song. And, no, I wouldn't like it if Jewel was on because she has turned into a pile of crap. It has nothing to do with rap.

For you it may not have anything to do with rap, but for most people thats what the comments suggest. People act like Snoop is going to make Drop It Like It's Hot the new theme. He even said he particularly loved the late 80s OLTL theme, which had vocals so I imagine it could be similar to that. Personally, I think that was the best opening and theme in OLTL, so if he uses that for inspiration it should be good.

First: the "remixed" theme is only for the episodes in which he appears, correct?
Second: I would not been keen on Jewel being signed to remix the theme.
Third: I don't like Snoop Dogg. I don't like his music. So I am going to complain. Why would I not?

I think it's totally fine to complain after you've heard the theme. The reactions are so strong you'd think everyone has heard it. I say give it a shot, just like we gave Ron Carlivati a shot and look how it has turned out.

Ron Carlivati had proven himself to be someone I am a fan of; Snoop Dogg has continually proven himself to be someone I am not a fan of. Therefore, I anxiously awaited Carlivati's reign and I will continue to complain about the Snoop Dogg appearance and theme before and after I have seen/heard it.

I still have faith in Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati who have done an amazing job turning the show around. I don't think they're going to make fools of themselves.

OLTL has been a show about half as much about having fun in a soapy style as it has social change over the different eras of the show. This just paid tribute to the fun half.
