Why do people insist on calling George W Bush the worst president ever? Is it liberal melodrama? I'd say so.
Did you guys know that Thomas Jefferson entered the United States into the first Barbary War without a proper declaration of war? Holy crap, what a war monger, huh? (I stole that fact from Jack, thanks man)
Did you guys know that Woodrow Wilson urged the passing of the Sedition Act of 1918? People went to jail just for speaking out against the war or being a dissenter because of that Act. Man, that Woodrow, tsk tsk.
How about this one: Bill Clinton was given the opportunity to handle Osama bin Laden as he wished and he declined. In his very own words: "I failed." Nice job, Bill!
Under FDR, people weren't even allowed to keep their own gold, gold they acquired in this fine thing known as the capitalist economy? How dare he forcibly take gold from the people? What a commie, huh? If people didn't surrender their gold, they could have faced hefty fines and gone to jail! What's more, FDR forced Japanese Americans into internment camps. My my my.
How about Andrew Jackson? The guy forced Indians from their land.
The point is, it is SOOO easy to criticize the here and now and conveniently forget about and sugarcoat the past. Apparently, no president is perfect, and a lot of these guys apparently did a lot more "tyrannical" things that Bush has done.
