I like the lead actors in both Justified and The Mentalist. I've heard The Unit is good.
I have about 8 episodes each of Scandal and Revenge waiting on my DVR. Did you quit Revenge? I don't know specifics, but I've heard the season finale was good. I hope so--I've really lost interest in that show.
June is going to be a good month for me, viewing-wise--Teen Wolf returns for season three, Big Brother starts, and Pretty Little Liars season three comes out on DVD. It's going to be a good month for trashy viewing.
Ome--I was just reading the results of the British Soap awards:
I'm happy about:
Tyrone winning best actor, Kirsti winning best villain and best dramatic performance.
I'm thrilled about:
Hollyoaks' five awards including Jacqui winning best actress and especially Ste and Brendan winning best on-screen partnership. And I like Dodger so I'm happy for the guy who plays him even though I think "Sexiest . . ." is a silly award.
I'm shocked but very happy with the results, it's about time HO got some real recognition and I always love to see Corrie win.
I gave up on Revenge about 4 episodes into season two. It came at a time when I found Sons, then The Shield and Southland. These three are top notch drama and as a result they've had me question some of the other show I watch. I think with Revenge I became too far behind to catch up and I no longer cared about Emily's revenge (I never know whether to call her Emily or Amanda) I saw there were all these episodes and asked myself how much revenge can someone really take that appears to be over hours and hours of TV time. Had it been a shorter season I may have stuck around, because I did like a lot of the characters.
I forgot to mention two other shows I have watched recently, Chicago Fire and The Following. Now these are not all about great writing, but they are fun to watch and some of the tension in the episodes is actually quite good. I think you'll love those two shows, there's plenty of eye candy for you too..
I think I have about 8 episodes of Scandal to watch, I'm looking forward to getting back into that show. I never took to Pretty Little Liars and Teen Wolf.
Like you I'm really looking forward to the next seasons of AHS & Sons, also Breaking Bad and Dexter finish for good with their last seasons to air in a few months.
I am definitely planning to watch Chicago Fire--especially now that it is getting a second season. I'm hoping it shows up on Netflix or Amazon Prime soon. I'm not sure about The Following . . .
One show that I have been circling recently and am seriously considering giving a go is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I've seen a couple of episodes but it never really captured me, but it might be different starting from the beginning.
Before I got distracted by Brookside, I was rewatching Dawson's Creek. I've only ever watched it all the way through once and watching it again reminded me how much I loved the characters and the writing. I'm diving back into that this evening.

There's really not much substance to them and they are totally frothy and don't require much thinking but there is something that I just find extremely addictive about both of them. Part of it has to do with the heightened over-the-top way they are written--and yet it never becomes campy in my opinion because they take themselves so seriously. It's like junk food TV for me.
Oh, and I'm really happy for Hollyoaks too. I hope maybe this is a turning point for them. It'd be great if someday they actually took home the best soap award. There's so much more risk taking involved in HO compared to the other British soaps and especially compared to American soaps. I'd love to see them recognized for it some day.
One thing about the awards:
I'm happy Tyrone won and he certainly deserved it, but I really was pulling for Emmett to take home that award. I really hope Scanlon moves to the US and lands on some gritty American television show--something from F/X or HBO or Showtime. I think he'd be great.
One thing that should be coming soon is a new season of True Blood, though I haven't heard anything about a start date.

Buffy is a great show and the characters are all so adorable and then you have Angel which is probably described as a more adult version of Buffy and I think that's spoken in the nicest way. Those two shows introduce more characters as they progress, something I feel Vampire Diaries lacks.
On the back of Buffy/Angel I went into Dawson's Creek, plus I loved Joshua Jackson in Fringe so I was eager to see him in a much younger role. Sadly it didn't work, I just never fully took to the characters and I had read so much praise for the show and so wanted to like it.

I know where you're coming from, as much as I like the high drama and shocking twists I do enjoy some shows that have none. I can be in a lazy mood where I don't want to have to think or speculate what might happen, I'm happy for that type of show to just drift away in.
Glee was that guilty pleasure but I never finished the last season, just picked up bits & pieces. From what I've seen of Justified I can see that fitting into the slot.

I forgot to tell you, there's a gritty drama airing over here that stars Emmett, Gillian Anderson and many other Hollyoaks actors
Oh, that trailer and Emmet's presence in the series has me very intrigued. And it will be available on US Netflix and possibly BBC America. I'm going to definitely check it out when it gets here. Thanks!
I know what you mean about TVD needing to introduce new characters. I gave up on several shows this year and it was one of them. I just got bored. Now I see that the spin-off, "The Originals" has been green-lit. I'm not sure if I will check it out.
I am intrigued and will probably check out the new show "Reign," next Fall. I'm excited that my favorite historical character has gotten her own series:
Particularly appealing that Mary will be getting the CW treatment. I have weakness for that channel and it's shows.
I am going to check out Arrow (which I have heard really good things about) and The Carrie Diaries this summer.

There's actually A LOT of surprising, if not shocking, twists in PLL. It did a great job of keeping me guessing about the identify of the mystery tormenter for two seasons--with twist after twist leading me down the wrong path and sometimes the right path until it took me off down the wrong path again. By the end I had correctly guessed and then unguessed because I was convinced I was wrong, the culprit twice. It's just not the type of show with
bite off your tongue and then hurl the bloody tongue at the observation window or set one of the main supporting character's daughter on fire in front of said father
sorts of twists.
It's definitely more suited to teen girl demographic--which seems to suit me as much as gritty, shocking dramas suit me. (Hence my love for the CW channel.)
Ome--I was organizing my DVD movies (yes--it was that kind of a Saturday night) and I came across a movie I bought years ago because it had both Anne Hathaway and Nathan Lane in it and was based on a Dickens book--Nicholas Nickleby.
Do you recognize the actor playing Nicholas?
I remember thinking how cute the actor who played Nicholas was at the time I watched the movie. Who knew years later I'd be seeing him in a "Hamlet on motorbikes" tv show.
Jason, I couldn't see that picture so I had to Google and I'm shocked at seeing Charlie Hunnam, now I'm curious about the movie.
Reign looks like my kinda show I must check that one out. I look at Arrow a while back, but wasn't sure it is my kinda show, I'm not a fan of hero type characters. Then I got a shock because I saw Stefan and Damon, then Sam Winchester and I realised it was a preview of a few shows..
I did go to bed at my post last night, I got a sudden wave of tiredness and I didn't even realise how late it was.
So pleased you're safe Our Jason xxx I too feel very sad for the terrible tragedy that has befallen Oklahoma. I'm very bad at geography so don't know how close places are in the US..
