Hello gang,
Hope all is well with everyone. It's been a while since I last checked in and have a lot of catching up to do.
Kev, love the new story. I agree with Jason, will Jill make an appearance?
Mel, lovely photos, hope Andy's feeling better.
Jason, it's a really lovely story and thanks for the GH clip, have been meaning to catchup with GH lately but somehow haven't got the time. Have been watching bits and pieces, need to put it on my schedule, luckily still have soapnet.
Ome, Knots Man, Rose, Jessie, and to everyone a big hello!

Hey TJ! Good to hear from you. I hope you get the chance to check back into GH on a regular basis. The show is having a bit of a resurgence thanks to the new head writer from One Life to Live. I haven't been this hooked on an American soap in years.

I had to rewind some of it as I couldn't understand him too well.
It's a shame it never happened. I read somewhere that the No More Tears segment was filmed at the same time as the previous show, or something. Was the final live, I wonder? Maybe it was cut for time. I'd love to have seen it.

Forget about what I said about Sookie, that doesn't come about till the last season and you may well have a different opinion to mine. Enjoy it Jason, I know you will.
I haven't watched any yet Jason. I keep vacillating. One the one hand, I've heard it described as Knots Landing with vampires, and the premise reminds me a lot of Kindred: The Embraced, which was a short-lived Aaron Spelling vampire soap in the mid-90s which I really enjoyed.
On the other hand, I've heard there's a lot of sex and nudity, and I get all crusty and Victorian around sex in tv and films.
(even when it comes to Ryan Kwanten).
Let me know what you think.

Hi PJ - nice to see you here.
It sounds like you're really busy. Hope all is going well for you.

I'm pleased to report though that apart from the 'wealth' factor, there was no similarities whatsoever in my eyes and if anything, the opening scene seemed eerily similar to a Knots Landing season finale.
I'm glad you enjoyed it KM. It's been heavily promoted here, I think - there were trailers during every break in Desperate Housewives on Sunday. I think it's going to be a huge hit here, as well as in America. I understand Season Two will take the coveted Desperate Housewives slot on ABC, and I shouldn't be surprised if the same thing happens here, which would be great, as Revenge is my new DH, and my Sunday nights are going to be barren without it (besides, I'm never in on a Monday evening
). .
I hadn't heard those comparisons with Dynasty and 90210 (I think the first season of Dynasty is extremely strong, BTW - right up there with the best of Dallas, and into Knots territory). Overall I haven't got the 80s soap connection that people keep talking about too much (apart from it being a straight drama about powerful, corrupt people, and some place and character names which pay tribute to Dallas and Knots). Revenge feels much more 90s to me - it has a feel of Melrose/Savannah/Central Park West. Though I suppose that, like Revenge, the 90s shows were spiritual successors to Dallas and Dynasty. And no way would Revenge have happened if those 80s dramas (and Peyton Place in the 60s) paved the way...
The other day (it could have been one of the trailers), I heard it described as a combination of the OC, Dynasty, Desperate Housewives and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
I'm down to the wire and on the last few episodes of the season - I just finished episode 18, so four more to go. It really excites me. In the second half of each episode, I keep noticing that my heart is beating quicker, and there's a huge anticipation about what will happen next. There are only a handful of shows that have elicited this excitement from me in my lifetime!
I really hope that they can keep up this quality for a few more seasons at least. I think it's hard for a series that's a huge hit right off, as Revenge is, as they're competing with themselves, and trying to improve on perfection, which is always dangerous.

KM

a delight to see you, Sir.... Hope work is bearable in this warm weather. Does your office have Air Con. ?
Happy Tuesday.... such a silly day of the week. Nowhere near Friday and basically just another Monday in disguise....

Monday in disguise -
It was Jason that introduced me to Tapatalk, Kev (for which I'm hugely grateful...).
Thanks for another two marvels!! I'm so enthralled by this story, and loving the little double-act with Lilimae and Mack. Karen's line about just reading her lines and marking her close-ups was just too funny for words.

Oh Kev that was another cracking comic strip, I too loved Karen's comments about her lines and close up. I'm totally ecstatic that Jill is featured..
I also loved your 'Monday in disguise' comment. I have now lodged that in my head and will use it myself...
Mel, True Blood is really heavy with the sex, the first two seasons are just full of it, but after a while it does calm down. I'm not that great on the sex scenes in shows, it's not like back in the days of Knots where it was just left to your own imagination, they have to be so graphic these days.
After the first episode of True Blood we questioned whether to carry on and a few days later we did give it another go. The story and characters were so brilliantly written and it wasn't long before we were wrapped up in it all that we shrugged the sex scenes off putting it down to our ages..
Jason, Teen Ome is very much into the chart music of today, she moans if I play my music, though I have caught her singing along to some of it. David Guetta, Jessie J & Nicki Minaj are very popular with her. She has been going on about Conor Maynard, though I'm not familiar with him.
Her favourite Wanted guy is Nathan and she also has a really big crush on George Sampson.
You might recognise the uniform he is wearing in this picture.
Always great to see you PJ and Knots Man.

Things are good. This is supposed to be my first week of vacation but we are having two days of training today and tomorrow. The training was very very very good today. It's all about lesson design based on the direct instruction model. The presenter is excellent and really knows her stuff. Tomorrow is also my weekly happy hour at our downtown wine bar. How is your week shaping up?

I'm three episodes in and really enjoying it. The characters are really unique and interesting. It does have the typical HBO graphic sex scenes-- so far featuring the aforementioned Ryan Kwanten.
I'll let you know what I think once I've finished the first season which I imagine will be sometime next week since there are only 12 episodes.
I'm also about to finish up the first season of the OC. Has anyone watched that one?

I LOVE David Guetta. And I like a few Nicki Minaj and Jessie J songs. (Nicki's song "Starships" is in heavy rotation on my iPod at the moment.) I haven't heard of Conor Maynard. I am just getting to the point where I can tell the 5 TW guys' voices apart and I would have to say that Nathan's voice is my favorite.

Morning (or evening) to you all.
Ome and Jason - thanks for the input about True Blood. It's looking like I'll give it a miss. For now, at least.
Jason - is this the first time you've watched The OC? I had it in my head that you were already a big fan. Though maybe it's because I know it has a youthful cast, which I know appeals to you (OTH and all that..). How is it? It's on my bucket list of shows.

I've watched the first two seasons before and then bits and pieces of the last two seasons. I enjoy it. If I were to rank my favorite teen soaps, it would probably go something like this:
1. One Tree Hill (No other teen show comes close imo to the heart and the well developed characters on this show.)
2. Friday Night Lights (I'm not quite sure this counts as a teen soap. The show comes the closest to matching OTH's heart and might be a bit more sophisticated and it's definitely more earnest but OTH's characters just can't be matched.)
3. Dawson's Creek (The two female leads are high on my list of favorite tv characters of all time.)
4. The OC (It has a nice blend of drama and humor and a good mix of teen and adult characters. I get frustrated with the teen characters frequently, but then the humor pulls me back in and Kelly Rowan and Melinda Clarke as the moms of three of the main teens are AWESOME. I can't say enough good things about the two of them. I probably enjoy the two mom characters more than any of the teens, although I adore Rachel Bilson--who plays one of the the 4 main teens.)

Evening all.
Jason - thanks so much for the rundown of your top teen dramas. They've been logged, and I'll surely revisit this page in the distant future (after much scrolling..) when I finally get round to finding time for a new show!!
Kev - Episode 5 was hilarious. So many laughs in each panel, I wonder how you come up with all this dialogue. Mack's silver lining being the buffets in Vegas -
Tapatalk isn't free, sadly. I think it goes for around £2 on the app store, which is a good investment if you visit from your phone. It makes viewing threads, replying, and even sending pictures so much easier (I'd never have been able to bore you all with my holiday snaps if it wasn't for Tapatalk.
).
Good to see you too Ome.

I discovered a "new" site today. It's called "Wikipeetia - the misspelled encyclopedia", and it's ridiculously silly. But for some reason, it's kept me highly amused.
In case you're not familiar, here's the "Knots Landeng" entry (with lots of links to other pages, including "Dalas", "Joen Ven Ark", and "Scennes form a Marrage". Enjoy:
