Reevaluating Mark Graison

I remember having a dislike of Mark Graison (Grayson?) from the moment I saw him on Dallas a year ago. I attributed Pam and Bobby's break up to him, finding Mark awful for attempting to court a married woman. However, after seeing Mark again a year later, he was very respectful of Pam's wishes when she told him that she was married and didn't want a relationship with him. When Pam left Bobby, Mark was there as a friend. Yes, he was interested in her, and he told her so, but he never pushed her into sleeping with him, he never laid a hand on her. He helped her with Cliff, and with her family issues, willing to accept nothing in return.

I know that Mark is a dicey topic on the forum. He isn't one of my favorite characters, but I do think I understand him better than I did a year ago. Hindsight can be a wonderful tool.

Oh, I wish I could agree with you, but... I've started a thread about Graison some time ago and it says it all...

I don't find the character to be respectful at all. I can't see him as honest in any way, all he did was to get Pam into bed. Sure, he was in love with her but that is no excause.

I still don't think that Pam and Mark worked together as a couple (she was in love with Bobby the entire time), but I do regret some of my old feelings for Pam's rebound guy.

If Mark's mission was to get Pamela into bed, then I think he would have tried much harder while they were vacationing in France. Mark wasn't just about being intimate with Pam. The first time they consummated the relationship was after a bull riding competition at Billy Bob's where Jenna worked. Pam saw that Bobby and Jenna were close, so she sought closeness with Mark as a way to combat her feelings for Bobby. Mark was definitely adamant, but he never once forced himself on her, or ended the relationship because she wouldn't commit.

Bottom line: Mark wasn't as evil as I thought he was. The first time I saw him I was reeling from a Pam and Bobby breakup. To be honest, there are worse and less honorable men that could have pursued Pam.

The funny thing is I would say the same about Graison.
But like we've discussed already in the thread I started, Pamela made her own decisions. Unfortunately...

LOL, Neither Mark Graison or Alex Ward would or could take "NO" for an answer because Pam was sending them "mixed messages". She was saying half heartedly "I'm married", but then she'd sucumb to their advances. No man is going to walk when they are getting responses like that.
