THE TRAGEDY OF GREED
As you can probably tell this is my version of "bring back Bobby". I've contemplated writing a story for some time now. So here I am biting the bullet...

CHAPTER 1

"Good morning!"

The two words which echoed around Pams head. Oh how she longed she had seen Bobby in the shower. How she hoped and dreamed that he was alive and return, smiling walking through the door as if the past year ad been a dream. Everything would be back to normal, the man who stole her heart would be her husband. Pam moved towards him and stretched her hand towards him, just to touch him, for him to be real. But Bobby vanished and everything went blank. It was just a dream, another fantasy.

Pam woke up just as the water stopped falling in the shower. She quickly glanced at the clock sitting on her bedside table. It was 11:30am. Pam rolled her eyes and slipped on her silk bathrobe. Mark entered the room with his towel rapped around his neck and a smile beaming from one ear to the other.

"Good morning my beautiful bride, you sure needed your beauty sleep today!" Mark said as he began to towel dry his hair.
"Okay, I get your point. Whey don't you get dressed and I'll make the three of us breakfast...... or brunch." Mark answered by licking his lips."Delicious!"

As Pam walked into the kitchen Christopher ran up to her and excitedly said "Mommy, mommy. When do we go to Paris and Africa and see the giraffes and........." Christopher named just about every country and animal he could think of before ending the sentence with " oh, and when can I have a gigantic slice of wedding' cake?"

Pam laughed as she said "Very soon, and you can have a piece of cake right now". Pam walked over to the fridge and brought out the remainders of her beautifully made wedding cake. She looked at the cake wondering where to cut and her eyes began to swell up with tears. "This should be Bobby's cake" she thought to herself before cutting off a corner and carefully placing one of the hand made lilac flowers on top. "There you go honey" she said as Christophers face lit up.

"Have you left a piece for Daddy?" Christopher asked after swallowing two mouthfuls.
"No honey, your Daddy can't eat cake sweetheart." Pam said, fighting back the tears.
"I miss Daddy." Christopher began to stare at his mummy and his eyes followed her as she steadily moved towards him.
"And you miss him because you love him, am I right?" Christopher answered by staring down at his plate and giving a little nod. Pam put her arms around him.
"I miss your daddy too."
"But you married Mark, so you don't love daddy anymore!"
"Oh no sweetie, I'll always love your daddy. He was the first man I ever fell in love with" Pam continued as she whispered into Christophers ear "I'll never stop loving your daddy! I don't think he ever realised how much, and.......oh, how I wish I let him know what he meant to me. But now it's too late!"

Pam wiped the tears from her eyes and walked over to the fridge as she heard Mark reach the top of the stairs.

Wait. Are you saying you are 14, or you have been working on this fanfic for 14 years? Either way, great start. I will say that I prefer the JR/SE slanted fics but since you just started this one and I can read it from the beginning, I plan on keeping up on it.

Chapter 2

(Italics are showing what they are thinking)

What had started as a normal day in downtown Dallas had turned into chaos. The consistent swooping of sirens were all that filled the ears of passers by. The scene was filled with police cars, firemen, ambulances and the news crew from channel 5. JR stood heartbroken as he saw all he had worked for go up in flames. He had just called Southfork in the hope that Miss Ellie would answer, however Teressa responded and told JR that his mother was looking for Clayton with Sue Ellen. More firetrucks pulled up by the Ewing building as their crews rushed in, trying to control the flames.

JR felt so lucky, he had just missed the bomb which was meant to kill him. He looked around, trying to make sense of the scattered deb re and decided to wait for more news in the comfort of his car. As JR waited for Miss Ellie to call back his eyes were drawn to his office window. Everything had been destroyed, his important documents, files which came in handy for blackmailing. It was all gone. That crazy SOB, why had Angelica attempted to take his life. He didn't ruin hers that much. The one positive thing of which JR was grateful was that no one should have been inside the building apart from him.

A nearby policeman's walky talky began to buzz. JR was intrigued to hear any news before the camera crews did. He stepped out of his car and carefully approached him.

"We got a body. Female. She is badly burned, looks like a brunette but I can't be sure. We need a stretcher up here, floor 19 and get a chopper now! Oh, sh*t. We've lost here again....." The transmission cut off.
"God, Mr Ewing can you tell the ambulance crew to get a stretcher up to floor 19, and make it quick." He said pointing to them "Tell them to take up oxygen too!"

JR did as he was told but became very uneasy. A female brunette. Well I don't know who that could be... His car phone rang and broke his confusion.

"JR Ewing here."
"Oh JR thank god your okay, what happened. Clayton and I arrived back and saw it on channel 5."
"Some crazy woman tried to kill me, well I guess the joke's on her 'cause I'm fine."
"Oh good. How is Sue Ellen"
"Sue Ellen??? I haven't seen her. I thought she was with you."
"Well, she seemed a bit worried this morning when she came to help me find Clayton on the ranch. She left for Dallas to find you."
"How long ago did she leave?"
"Ooh. About an hour and a half. Don't worry, she's probably caught up in traffic. I'll call you when she comes back. I love you, bye."
"Bye mama."

JR slammed the phone down. Sue Ellen couldn't be held up in traffic. It isn't rush hour and it is a Sunday. Hell, it only took me 30 minutes to get to my office. Some thing's wrong! At that moment JR saw the stretcher appear in the doorway. He wasn't alone though, all the camera crews which had now arrived were making their way to the door. JR fought through the crowd and saw the woman in the stretcher, he rushed to her. It was Sue Ellen, JR just knew it. She barely had hair that hadn't been burnt off and her skin was covered in red, pink and black burns. He followed the paramedics to the helicopter but they shut the door in his face.

He rushed back to his car and started the engine. He was half way to Dallas Memorial when Miss Ellie called. She was a mess, sobbing on the other end of the line. Clayton took the phone from her hand.

"JR"
"Clayton, what's wrong with mama?"
"We're all hoping to can tell us. Channel 5 are showing footage of a woman leaving the building and being airlifted to Dallas Memorial."
"Yes Clayton that's true. I saw her myself."
"Is it also true that she is Sue Ellen?"
"Where did you here that?"
"It is more like where didn't I hear that. It's being broadcast on every channel. Sue Ellen Ewing, victim of vicious bombing! Is it true?"
"I....It might be. I saw the woman and underneath all the burns I think it is her. Look, I'm on my way to Dallas Memorial. You can both come down if you want, I've got to identify the body."
"Were on our way now!"

Oh god. What if it is Sue Ellen. How am I going to tell John Ross. She might not make it.

Miss Ellie stood and looked in Clayton's eyes. "Oh, it is Sue Ellen" She began to cry again.
"Come on Ellie, pull yourself together. JR needs you. Were are going to the hospital now!"

As the three of them made their way to Dallas Memorial they each imagined what they were going to face. Miss Ellie knew deep down in her heart that it was Sue Ellen and was beginning to make herself strong for her son. Clayton saw the woman he once loved more than a friend fighting and winning her battle. For she was stronger bow, than she had ever been in her entire life. However JR didn't see Sue Ellen. He saw his desperate hope that it was an unfortunate geologist or accountant who had decided to come into work on Sunday. But he knew what he saw and realised that he couldn't fight the truth with fantasies, and that he would have to face it one way or another.

All I can say is that I hope Sue Ellen turns out better than she does in my fic. How wild is that we are both continuing the Dream Season? Everyone can see two perspectives. You're doing a fabulous job and I can't wait to read more.

Here you go... Chapter 3

Christopher was the first to finish his pancakes. Pam, who was still shaken by her dream decided to watch cartoons with Christopher. She took Christopher's had and the two of them walked into the living room. Pam lifted Christopher up into the air and swirled him around,
"What do you want to watch sweetie."
"I don't know........ Tom and Gerry"
"Okay," Pam looked at her collection of videos, scanning. One caught her eye. She had taped Bobby's news appearance after he died so that her son could know how famous and important his daddy was."Aha. Tom and Gerry". Pam slide the tape in the machine as the phone rang.
"Mark can you get that?"

Mark answered the phone. "Miss Ellie wants to talk to you. She sounds really anxious!"
"I'll be right there Mark" Pam said before kissing her sons forehead. "Be good for mama" she whispered.

"Hello? Miss Ellie."
"Pam! Sue Ellen has been in an accident. She's in Dallas Memorial"
"Oh my god. Is she okay,... I mean what happened?"
"You don't know."
"No can you please fill me in"
"Someone planted a bomb in the Ewing Building. It went off and Sue Ellen was inside. If I were you I'd come down. She's in surgery but the latest report is not good."
"What do you mean by, not good?"
"She's gone into cardiac arrest over 4 times. She might.." Miss Ellie drew a deep breath" She might not make it."
"I'll be right there" Pam turned to face Mark.
"Whats wrong?"
"The Ewing Building exploded this morning. And Sue Ellen was inside. I.... I have to go!"
Mark held Pam by her shoulders as he reassured her that Sue Ellen would be fine.
"Sue Ellen's strong Pam so calm down and pull yourself together. I'll drive. Get the car keys"

Ray and Donna were unpacking boxes into their new home. Donna and Ray felt on top of the world. They both had what they always wanted. A loving companion and a child. Tony was thrilled about the new house especially when it came to his bedroom. Having once been afraid and cautious of horses, he now loved them and begged his new dad to have stable themed room of which Ray obliged.

Donna just started to fill the shelves in her kitchen with china when the phone rang. She walked into the hall as Ray lifted the receiver.
"Hello."
"Ray? It's Miss Ellie."
"Oh, hello Miss Ellie what can I do for you. Have you still not found Clayton?"
"No, I found Clayton. Look Ray I know your busy with moving but I really think you should hear this from me rather than the news."
"Miss Ellie it sound serious"
"It is. Oh, I don't know where to begin. There was an accident at Ewing oil. Well it wasn't really an accident. Someone that JR had been working with, put a bomb in his office...." Miss Ellie didn't get a chance to finish before Ray interrupted.
"Is JR okay?"
Miss Ellie cleared her throat." Yeah, JR's fine he's here with me. It's Sue Ellen..."
"Why was Sue Ellen at the office on a Sunday?"
" She was getting JR. And will you please stop interrupting!" Miss Ellie was beginning to get agitated. "She was in the office when the bomb went off"
"Where is she?"
"Dallas memorial. If you and Donna want to come over then that would be great. But there's not much to do apart from wait for news."
"We can't leave Tony on his own!"
"Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot. Do you know what would be really good. Could the three of you go to Southfork and keep John Ross occupied."
"Of course Miss Ellie. Does he know?"
"No and he won't 'til JR gets home to tell him. "
"Alright, we wont say a thing."
"Thanks. I gotta go. I'll call the ranch if we get any news. You all take care now, you here me."
"Yes, we hear ya. Bye"

Donna and Ray looked at each other. Donna had over heard the conversation and said. "Who's in hospital?"
"Sue Ellen and no John Ross doesn't know and isn't to know."
"Okay I'll go and get Tony."

JR paced up and down the corridor as he waited for more news. His mother was on the phone telling relative of the tragedy which had struck and Clayton had gone for coffee. He had been here for over an hour and still hadn't been told of his wife's condition. His mother and Clayton had tried to comfort him by staying positive but it hadn't worked. He put on a brave face but inside he was crumbling. Clayton arrived back with three cups of coffee and they all sat down. Pam marched down the corridor quickly followed by her new hubby Mark.
"Miss Ellie" she said greeting her with open arms. Pam looked at JR, not knowing whether to show compassion or to just say I'm so sorry. They had never been close so she took the safe option.
"JR I'm so sorry. I came as soon as Miss Ellie called." Pam wondered about JR response but was surprised when he said "thank you".

Clayton's mouth opened to speak when a surgeon walked to them. JR rose from his seat and abruptly said "How's my wife."
The surgeon stalled before saying "Alive"
Pam broke in "Alive. What the hell does that mean?" Pam restrained her self from saying any more as she realised that she had gone too far.
"Alive, meaning that she is with us. Mrs Ewing was found in Mr Ewing's office where the explosion took place. She is very lucky to have gotten this far. We managed to stop the internal bleeding but she has fallen into a coma. There is just one thing....."
