That was quite enjoyable to read. Thanks to all involved. Susan Howard gave a strong performance on DALLAS. And she was one of the few really empowered women on a show where there were many vulnerable, neurotic and sexed-up females. In real life it is clear that Susan Howard does have a mind of her own--strong opinions on sensitive subjects such as gun control and abortion.

She seems to be an interesting character because some of her beliefs contradict the stereotype of such devotees. From what I have read, she is pro-choice and pro-NRA but hardly the stand-by-your-man-with-a-frying-pan generalization of a Republican wife (if that's even what she is). She makes her opinions clear and loud, and I respect that even if I don't agree with her completely.

I know, I know. The pro-gun people will say, "Guns don't kill people, people kill people." But how many driveby STABBINGS make the news?

And then there's, "If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns." But in a civilized society, there are more guns than outlaws. So it works against itself.

Bless you, Pisces! I used to take it personally when you'd say how crap our KNOTS interviews were, but I now realise that you say mean things whenever anybody interviews anybody, and I feel strangely comforted.

    LOL !

I am a huge fan of Susan Howard's acting , she's right up there with Julie Harris , Bill Devane & Constance McCashin ... Having said this I find her views on Guns so disgusting and narrow minded that it's a real lesson to me that some really cool people can have such damaging and abhorent views and had I been doing this chat ( thank God I wasn't ) I would have gone full tilt boogie and attempted to read out the names of every child murdered by guns until , hopefully , she would have burst into tears and renounced Charlton Heston " From My Cold Dead Hands" ( Yes that's what usually happens around guns buddy) , views that actually cause children to die tend to be a problem with me and Howard saying that it is a personal issue is even more repellant.

I suggest she and everyone who cares about the lives of young people in America go and buy HBO's unmissable show The Wire on DVd . That show is definitve , educational and an intellectual and emotional journey that will leave you enriched and informed.

How ironic that Donna and Howard are associated with children and downs syndrome and goodness etc etc and yet her NRA group are responsible ( directly & indirectly) for the murder of many many young lives in America.

I guess we are all contradictions. We are all ying and yang. The chat was fine , nothing new but I did smile at her bizzarre interpretation of Donna's inner motivation for Mickey , that was funny.

She's a great actress and in my opinion one of the best things about Dallas and I salute her for that.

    A rifle salute.

I am so sorry I missed this live interview! To echo another member, thank goodness for the transcript!
Just a Q, I didn't read anywhere which "Donna in 2007" submission won the Season 7 DVD. Did Susan Howard pick the winner yet? If so, who won?

Well, when I do an interview, I force my subjects to expand on their answers.

Anybody interviewed by me had better plan on elaborating fully, making sure to wring every nuance out of every remembrance and detailed reminiscence--even the ones that never happened.

Anybody that I sit down with had better have some prepared anecdotes, clever missives, and made-up stories to pepper the interview with....or else !!!

You know , Bill O'Reilly hotseat, Howard Stern style. That's what I call a good interview.

I guess I go more for the Billy Ray Cyrus hotseat approach.

The truth doesn't just appear out of nowhere.

Truth is proportional to how much digging and probing you've done to get at it.

A good Inquistion is intense and compelling. You don't move on to the next topic until you've thoroughly dissected, hammered away at, and unearthed every last possible detail.

thats hard to do in a LIve chat for 1 hour!!

there was far more info in Vps interview as it was over a phone and transcribed later (thanks pamela ) but in live chat you are very limited to how long the replies can be! or it would be boring for fans at the other end who are waiting to see what they ie stars type! or if yorr questions will be asked.........

if for example she gave a 30 mins response to the NRA i might have packed up and gone to bed!!

I think live chats success means lots of questions and short ish replies!!

i was delighted with response to my question - BBG/HK forever!
    Next please...............
