You miss Art Swift (aka Johnny Rourke)? He actually got banned in 2003...

I am in daily contact with Joshua. He's become a very good friend of mine, we exchange emails, we send each other presents for Christmas and birthdays and I have met him two times in real life. All thanks to this forum!
I will tell him that you miss him. He still comes here every once in a while though...

I have made other good friends here like Knots Man, John Webb (sadly, I am not in contact with him anymore) and Karin. Karin even sends me postcards from her holidays which is so lovely of her. I never send any to her, sorry Karin! Oh and Sunshineboy once sent me a Knots Landing compilation TAPE of the early years, I still have it!

    Then..what else can I share.
Well, each year on his birthday I tell Chris Sumner Matheson that when he arrived here, he was only 15 and now he's really old.
It was VERY exciting for me to see Chris on the new Dallas! I stopped the video and yelled out: "This is Chris Sumner Matheson!". My husband: "Chris who???"
    Me: "Chris Sumner Matheson!!!"
    He: "Huh?"
Well, he finally got it then. Cause hellooo dear husband, I talk to you about Soapchat ever day!

I love this place here so much. I could not live without it anymore!

I miss Art Swift as well. He did some wonderful interviews for the site.

And Sid Fairgate was also only 15 when he joined the boards. Right, Sid?
And you had a different name before, I think a few other names and then you settled with the screen name "Sid Fairgate".

I sent you a TAPE !!! HA! Yes I was so proud of it , took me ages to make... I bet the quality is rubbish but it was made with love!

Was Art Swift banned? Some of the best people have been banned..... Marky or Snarky was banned for ages and ages and he's now a moderator! The lunatics will end up running the asylum! ( feel free to ban me for saying that).

    I'll work on it.

Art Swift AKA Johnny Rourke was what we used to call a 'wolf in sheep's clothing', and most of the drama of his departure happened out of view of the general forum population. I was really saddened when one of our KL forum moderators left due to his manipulations (and the way some people chose to believe him over her), but he showed his true colors soon after and Pamela squashed him like a bug.

    People are so young!

My first experience with UD/soapchat wasn't universally positive, if slightly amusing. I joined in Sept 2000, lurked for a few months, and when I tried to post, I discovered my profile has been closed and my moniker had been appropriated by an early moderator who'd apparently liked it and kept it for him/herself! I was horrified, if slightly flattered.

Of course, that was back in the Internet's wild west days. And the culprit's long gone.

I rejoined in Feb 2001. But the emotional scarring was so bad that I've tweaked my screen name every 18 months since then as a manifestation of PTSD.

Okay, my first experience with UD went like that:

"Hmmm...let's see...what can I do online...what can I possibly do with this strange thing called internet..hmm..well, I could look for a Dallas site but nah, there won't be any sites dedicated to that long gone show in this strange place called internet...but well, let's see, maybe I can find one"

I found UD thro Lukes great Charlene Tilton site
I was literally wetting myself that there was someone out there like me!!

Luke became my first forum friend and was such a great help to me in my early days of basic computer skills, how to scan, how to upload pics and how to do your own web site
    I owe him a lot!!

Wow, August 8, 1997! I was....11. I remember first going online the previous school year for research using AOL at a friend's house....and that damn dialup took FOREVER!

I didn't get the internet until 2000....but when my parents got something, they got the best. We got Road Runner (cable broadband)....bwahahaha. I didn't find Soapchat until August 2006 when I became a Dallas fan, though. Glad I did! Have met some great people over the years.

    Happy anniversary, y'all.

    Ah, 2004.
It wasn't conflicts with me that started it. Actually it was his behaviour towards one of the female mods that was an issue and I intervened. It was one of those quandary situations because he had built quite a clique as well that kind of took over the forum at the expense of others. So sadly it had to be broken up and his head was on the chopping block. I'm sure in real life he is lovely (cough).

We had the same issue on the Dallas forum with a couple of people and that was all very messy. I spent all my time on the telephone with various forum members who were in a battle and got dragged in. Never again.

Anyway it was all good fun. Even the fights )

Oh, I wasn't suggesting it was. I was saying that as soon as I wanted to leave his site because of things I didn't approve of, he then tried to publicly imply I'd been responsible for conflicts between him and soapchat. Even though he was, in another thread, publicly discussing his legal options towards soapchat.

Which was just strange, and didn't make any sense. So his manipultions got hairy.

I am not sure I even heard of communities such as forums, and I guess I'd first heard about the internet at that time, in 1997.

Happy Birthday from a new member. How I wish I had known about this forum so much earlier! Suppose better late than never.
Somebody said this forum is like a soap opera. People come, go, some are here from the very beginning, others have just joined,... so true.

Today's date significantly marks something in my life as well.
