Default Season 2 episode [Season 3 in dvd world] "SECRETS"...

Well i just watched this episode from my dvd set...

    and what an episode.

2 great things i wanted to comment on!

Firstly... it's to do with Val.. this is the ep where shes back in town, trying to hide from JR so he cant get to her... ... but also trying to track down lucy so they can talk...
Well eventually JR finds out shes back in town... and he goes to her hotel room and tells her to pack her bags and get away.
I watched this scene between Van Ark and Hagman in amazement... i loved it. I love the rivalry between the two characters it makes for such great viewing dont you all agree? JR because he is such a bastard to Val when she hasnt done anything wrong.. and Val just for that reason... she isn't a bad person she is just trying to patch things up with her daughter but JR just wont let that happen.
I watched this scene and i had forgotten all about the way it ends... so there i am shouting at the tv "Val dont leave... stand up to JR".... then just as she starts to break down and it looks like she has no choice but to leave.... Bobby and Lucy turn up at the doorway... Bobby shouts "no you wont JR... not this time..." or something to that effect.

I totally forgot all about this scene... but now i remember it vividly... especially having just seen it again, ... but it has to be one of the best suprise endings to a scene in Dallas history... i mean its not a suprise if you remember and what not but i bet first time round that part had everybody hooked...? I really thought Val would be made to leave but for once JR didnt get his own way... it was excellent, it really was great to see Bobby and Lucy standing there... having witnessed JR for what he really is, even though they already know.

So that is my first comment on that scene from that episode, basically just to say how brilliant it is!

My second thing is rather interesting....

Since when was there a family dog @ Southfork...?

Anybody else notice a little doggy at Southfork in this episode? I was shocked, ... i never noticed it before it is kinda blink and you miss it but you all look closely and you will see a dog walking across the southfork patio outside... ... with no explanation what so ever. They never had a dog, they never ever mention one... so what on earth is it doing there? .
Has it been noticed by others, is there a thread about it already that maybe i missed when the season 3 dvd set came out and people noticed it back then... ?

Its about half way through the episode where Lucy dont want anything to do with Val.. she wakes up, its morning at Southfork, Bobby is sitting at the outside table waiting for Lucy to leave for school so he can catch her and talk to her try and convince her to give her mum a chance... And as Lucy walks out of Southfork onto the patio... theres a little dog following her closely behind... it really is there, ... looks like a jack russell or something similar... white with possible brown patches...!

I wonder if this is just a complete slip-up by the shows editors or cameraman... niether having noticed this when filming or editing the show... so it just aired like that with a little dog in it... with no reason or explanation... wierd huh.
Why was there a little dog on the set anyway... ... wonder who's it was?

I think there are dog glimpses in the mini-series and Ray's handling one when he's with J.R. at the start of Act Four of episode 1.

The scene with Val and J.R. is shown again as a flashback in Sue Ellen's final season. I love it but then I love all J.R.-Valene scenes. And then, on Knots, he describes her as his favourite sister-in-law or himself as being her favourite brother-in-law.

When J.R. said, "I was doing it for you, Lucy. I didn't want her to hurt you again", I was totally convinced by his argument.
Laura: That guy came here last night and told you your father is dying. Now, no matter how much you hate him, he is your father and he is dying.
Sumner: And not a moment too soon.
Laura: You know, I almost feel sorry for the old man.
    Sumner: You didn't know him.
Laura: All he wanted was for you to love him. Is that so terrible?
    Sumner: Yes.

When Sue Ellen, Lucy and Miss Ellie arrive back from shopping in 'Spy In The House', there are two dogs in that scene. One is sitting not far from the main Southfork ranch building and the other is outside J.R. and Sue Ellen's house. This second one is still there when J.R. arrives home early from work, cos he looks at it before going in for a row with Sue Ellen that sends him straight to Julie. Neither of these is the dog from 'Digger's Daughter'.

So there were dogs on Southfork ever since the first episode of Dallas!

I always found the dog shots really random. But i remember Sue Ellen saying to JR once, something about Jock's pitbull.

LOL its all very odd, i dont understand why they popped up it must of been by mistake really sloppy work on behalf of the editors / cameraman like i say...?

Or maybe there is a subliminal message theyre trying to get across with glimpses of a dog here there and everywhere, haha.
