Default Dynasty Chronology Project / Character Biographies

Russ and I started this at another site, and never really made any progress. The first part is mostly speculation based upon events from the series (Dynasty, The Colbys, and The Reunion), The Authorized Biography of the Carringtons, and other licensed materials. No fan fiction here, though it may be incorporated later. Occasionally, compromises had to be made due to continuity errors by the producers and writers. Feel free to contribute.

    waouw, great job!!!

But (yes, a "but"), as a fan of Sabe I couldn't let this pass...

You said that she was born in 1945 (4 years after Francesca), that she meet Jason in 1954 (so, she was 9 or 10) she was raped in 1961.... (that make her 15-16).... But if I remember correctly she said she "wasn't even twenty" when it happened....
OK, 15 or 16 isn't even twenty but don't you think that was far too young for a bride at this time?????

And (don't ask the episode) in the Colbys she said she married Jason at 17 or 18.... (with 28 ou 29 years of mariage, that would make her 46 and better in timeline?!)

I think this thread proves that DYNASTY was the best idea for a television show in the history of the medium.

But like Jason! has said, adjustments and compromises in time had to be made to accommodate the numerous changes in backstory and continuity goofs the show experienced during its run.

    Thanks Marky.

It's not perfect people. And I did say you're free to contribute. Think of it as a group project. I have things I haven't even stuck in there. But remember the switching dates for when Alexis left, when Fallon killed Roger, when Roger died, didn't die. And the key word in the preface was "speculation". I'm open to your interpretation, so please, post your chronology of events.

Ah! I knew I would stir up controversy!

OK, I can't beat this.... you're completely right, they had to correct some errors by "little lies and mistakes".... It's just that , and I talk just about Sable's case, I don't think they ever said how many years were between her and Francesca... so maybe we can think she was born in 47 or 48.....

Anyway, I wouldn't want to be the one who destroys Jason!'s work here.... it is great!!!

LOL, no problem. It's not destroying anything! I only posted to get the help and cooperation and opinions of other posters (get off your ass Marky and find that "more elaborate" timeline) -- a group project!

I'm sick of the story of how the Pollocks kept this wonderful bible season to season and knew the story frontwards and backwards. That's bullshit. If they did this, seems there wouldn't have been so many continuity errors.

There has to be some fibbing to make everything work. We can always change things.

By the way, didn't Alexis just turn 16 when Blake married her?

One more thing, I have the Dynasty Family Tree a fan made and had posted at Stian's site years ago. It's HUGE. I'm still trying to figure out how to post it.

No, no-- it wasn't more elaborate than yours!

    Sad, but so totally true.

I mean, I realize that such a bible doesn't always prevent goofs, but, as I've said numerous times before, the script would sometimes contradict in the same scene!!

It's funny, with all of Esther Shapiro's fibbing, retroactive and current, she often described what they should have been doing with the show, but rarely were.

I mean, why couldn't they have actually done these wonderful things they always gave little more than lip-service to? Sure, it takes time and attention, but since you have to physically make the show anyway, it's got to be a tad easier to do so if you remain engaged with your own product.

Unless you think like a pimp. And the brass just seemed to Fight Against Nature at every turn.

And that's how to explain away raging contradictions in plot and time that cant be cleverly reconciled (like Pauslen effectively explaining away Krystle's Stepford personality since Season 3 in the first episode of Season 9: "she hasn't been herself for years!" regarding the brain injury). Just say somebody lied--- on a show like DYNASTY that's got to be believable! Alexis or the DA lied about Roger's death in prison nearly 20 years after he got dumped in that lake; Blake lied about his mother dying at age four "to protect" his children a la the lies about Adam never existing; etc...

I think this is what confuses a lot of people. It started out with great promise, but TPTB became as greedy as the Carringtons, and the show suffered. Pointing out the show's errors, demise, resonstruction, and then total collapse is not "bashing". It's all part of a good review. Nothing is perfect. This timeline isn't perfect. As much as I love Dynasty, as much as it is a part of who I am, it's not perfect.

I've often thought about "re-creating" Dynasty. What it would be like if it were a 3-part big budget, big screen trilogy. Not just recasting ... but "editing" some of the errors.

    My mistake. Still interested though.

LOL, yeah! Seems like if the whole thing is outlined one could refer to it from time to time. "Wait, we said it this way in season ___ and now we're doing it this way? Sure, no one's paying attention?"

It's funny, with all of Esther Shapiro's fibbing, retroactive and current, she often described what they should have been doing with the show, but rarely were.

Shapiro has to be the best spin doctor in the business. She should go into politics! I mean, the woman can bring tears to your eyes when she wants to. For instance, read the intro to the Biography book. She talks about all these wonderful trappings of the rich, but we rarely saw them. I wanted Dynasty on a grander scale. One of the reasons I love The Colbys so much is you see the Colbys going in and out of the mansion, helicopter landing in the back yard, etc. But even then, The Colbys fail. Wouldn't you see more of Hollywood in ... well, Hollywood?

And that's how to explain away raging contradictions in plot and time that cant be cleverly reconciled (like Pauslen effectively explaining away Krystle's Stepford personality since Season 3 in the first episode of Season 9: "she hasn't been herself for years!" regarding the brain injury). At least Paulsen tried to tie up a few lose ends, and give some continuity to the show. Saying the Carringtons, Colbys, and Dexters have been friends, foes, family, business partners was good.

For me, I think an Early Years could have worked as a mini-series produced during Dynasty's height. Of course, Joanie would have been barking about who would play her. Anyway, think of the mid 1950s and look at the key players of the time: Blake, Alexis, Cecil, Jason, Connie, Ben, Emily, Buck, Jason, Frankie, Philip, Sable.

Well, anyway, who's helping with this project?

I love it, Jason! Great stuff! Do you still have contact with Andy Koenig? Andy should write a Dynasty episode guide, just like The Colbys. I love that Colbys episode guide!
Take a look at my Albums for some great Dallas and Dynasty merchandise pictures!!

I've not talked to her in a while. She sent me her timeline, and we pretty much agree on things, but I'll incorporate what I don't have that she does.

She also sent this huge alphabetical list of facts -- it's amazing!

I did ask her about the episode guide and she said, "Unfortunately I never wrote an episode guide for Dyasty. Some people asked me to do so after having read my Colbys episode guide, but as Dynasty is so huge, I had to tell them I just don't have the time to do it - at least not for the time being. It might be great fun, but when I do something, I tend to do it right and beinig a teacher takes up most of my time now, so I have only holidays and weekends for my hobbies."

These are some thngs Andy had that I didn't. (She had some things for her fiction that I didn't include here. That's another ... excuse the pun ... story!) Just wondering, I don't know if someone already asked. Where did you get Amanda's middle name as Kimberly from. Which episode. I need to rewatch that one. Thanks

The middle names came from Judith Moose. I don't have her book in front of me, but this is from another forum where she posted the following:

This is information I got from Spelling Entertainment (about ten years ago) while working on a research project.

    Blake Alexander Carrington
Alexis Marissa Morrell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan
    Fallon Marissa Carrington Colby
    Amanda Kimberly Carrington
    Claudia's middle name is Mary
