    Talking

it's i think on dvd NOW. & it came out In (1936) she had to fight IF i am NOT mistaken to have "Bogie" in it. cause he also was in the stage play. or it may have been "Leslie Howard" who did the fighting. i think it WAS HIM. cause i think he was in the play as well. i NEVER did like the ending though to a GREAT film like"The Petrified Forest" or HOWEVER that's spelled? another classic is MY favorite film of her's (1940's) "The Letter" how about anyone else here?

I haven't seen "The Letter" yet,
but I loved her in "Hush Hush Sweet Chorelette,"
Apprently Joan Crawford dropped out of making this
film because she didn't want to work with Bette again.
It was her loss I guess.

i agree, i have yet to see that one yet though. ya know? i have yet to see "Sunset Blvd" as well. & no wait i'm thinking about "All about Eve" aren't I? those films, those 2 films seem to be soo damn close together. that i sometimes get them confused ya know? another good one is "Deception" (1946)
that's a good one. "The Bride Came C.O.D." is another good one (1941) with "Jimmy Cagney" A COMEDY! never the less!

More movies to add to my must see movies
Bette is great in All about Eve, just love those classy lines of
hers and it was Marilyn Monroe's first feature film too.
Sunset Blvd is great as well, a real dark film but a classic.

That was Gloria Swanson. An understandable mistake.

And now a bit of gossip about Bette Davis and Joan Collins.
Asked on the BBC who the "Hollywood Biggest Monster" was in her opinion, Joan replied "Bette Davis" (probably because she couldn't say "I am, darling." ) and she gave that 'behind the scenes' anecdote on the set of The Virgin Queen, which she relates in her autobiography 'Second Act'. In one scene, kneeling on her feet, Joan is supposed to lace up a satin bow on Bette's shoe:

'The first time I attempted the bow my fingers trembled so much that I couldn't do it up. Bette kicked out at me viciously and I went flying across the set, petticoats over my head. (...) Bette was furious with me, "Don't you even know how to do up a shoe?" she snarled. "Don't they teach you anything at those English drama schools? How can you possibly think that you could ever succeed as an actress, you little fool?" (...) When the assistant director summoned me back to the set, I was in combative mood as we began take two, but Miss Davis' foot suddenly developed a life of its own. It jumped, wiggled and twitched and I couldn't even hold the bow this time, let alone tie it. (...) On take three, I grabbed the Oscar-winner's ankle with both hands, jammed it between my knees and clenched them together so tightly that she couldn't move her foot. Bette shot vicious glances at me while she uttered her lines.'

About the Night of 100 Stars, Bette was so shocked by Joan's gold lamé dress that she called Nolan Miller the next day:

'"How the hell can you let that girl wear a dress as low-cut as that? It's disgusting. You could see everything she's got." "That's the whole point," Nolan answered calmly. "If you've got it these days, Bette dear, you have to flaunt it." "Huh," sniffed Bette, "never in my days, dear," and hung up on him.'

In her book, Joan also mentions what Marilyn Monroe thought of Bette. Marilyn, "That woman hates every female who can walk. She didn't talk to me at all, just sort of swept around the set, nose and cigarette in the air. I guess it was because I was only a bit-part player and she was the big star."
I bet nowadays bit-part players feel that way too when they work with Joan Collins!

me too & other things as well, IF she still looked like she did way back in let's say the (1930's) hehe & as for that pic? where'd ya get it ? it's a great photo of them! anywys, as for "joan collins" i NEVER could really stand her to be honest. i'm NOT saying i dislike her or hate her. i don't she just

NEVER did anything for me like let's say 'bette davis" does. hehe. well in her young days anywys, Joan collins NOW is kinda scary looking a bit cause of all the work she's had done. with bette davis it really wasn't her fault cause of her mascetomy? which i think i spelled wrong? plus those 2 strokes or was it 3 she ended up having? it just took her looks away from her. & all that. if ya look at her a few yrs. while she was in her 60's. she was still looking good. & after her surgery as well. buut after the strokes they made her really look

pretty bad,. the strokes i mean. anywys, as for Collins" i have seen a handful of her films. old ones she did back in the 50's. & such. the MOST films i've seen her were in the 70's. when she did horror films. such as a"Tales from the crypt" the (1972) movie! she looked GREAT in that film. hehe anyws, & as for davis? another good ones is "It's love i'm after" (1937), "the rich are always

with us" (1932) her role isn't huge in it. buut it's a decent role. a good film as well & it's NOT on tape or dvd yet. wait till 'TCM" shows it again. i have since dvd'r'd it. & another good one that hasn't been put in any format is "the man who played god" (1932) her role is a good one in that. she isn't the star in that one. buut it's a good one though. & as for that gossip, davis was nice to people when she worked with them. no matter if it was a man or

woman. no matter who it was. buut she also could be a bitch as well. it just depended on the person i am guessing. maybe she was just jealous of her looks since bette davis NEVER thought of her as attractive. i have her book. her 1st one updated too when she died. she had updated it to a certain extent. that's my guess anwys. buuut people i'm sure CAN say the about "Joan Collins"

    Bette was a sweetheart,
    as for Joan Crawford,
    she never rubbed me the
    right way.
    Just something about her
    that I couldn't stand, she
is a good actress, but not my
taste. See, I didn't know about the
strokes Stimpy, must have read alot about Bette

i have, & i've seen "DOC" about her. in (1978) she had her surgery. which isn't to far off when they did it on the show "Dallas" is it? anywys, she had her surgey, & i think it was after her surgery during that year she had her 1st stroke. & than in (1983) she had another stroke & than a 3rd i think? while she was in the hospital. it was also around this time i think that her daugther wrote that damn book! OR was planning on too? i think? cause she found out about it while she was in the hospital. as she said in the interview & her book she believes her daughter thought she was going to die on her. buut must have been
dissapointed when she didn't die. or something like that? IF anyone here has read or heard about this, correct me IF i'm wrong will ya's Please?

i'm guessing she COULD be when she wanted to. buut than her & Joan crawford could also be bitches when they wanted to be i guess. i dunno about joan crawford, buut bette davis, does in fact have people she worked with in the past say nice things about her. & than there's some that also says she could also be a bitch. i guess it just depends on whom ya ask. least that's my take on it ya know?

Here's another rare pic of Bette & Joan together, looking happy !

It's said that when Bette heard the news of Joan Crawfords death, she remarked "One should never speak ill of the dead, only the good. Joan Crawford is dead, good".

Blanche: "You wouldn't be able to do these awful things to me if I wasn't in this chair."
Jane: "But ya AAH Blanche, ya AAH in that chair!"

it's like Bette was living a fantasy in this movie.. she got to torture Joany.. pearler.. wonder what it was like on the set.

well she actually did kick her in that film & other things as well. hehe buut joan crawford got her back QUITE a few times as well. it's funny that 2 women who bette davis admired when she 1st started out & than later on they turned out to be eniemes. weird ain't it? bette davis may have gotten MORE awards for her acting. buut she did have MORE power & MORE hit movies than joan crawford did. which is prolly some of the reasons why they didn't get along. oh i'm sure there were OTHER"S ya know? buut that's prolly some of the reasons.

Here's 4 of Bette's most famous lines, can anyone guess which movies they are from ?

"I'd love to kiss ya but ive just washed mah hair"

    "What a dump"

"Fasten your seatbelts, its gonna be a bumpy night"

"Oh Gerry, we have the moon, lets not ask for the stars"

    Have fun guessing

Of course 'All About Eve' and 'Now Voyager' are correct. I'll have to check out the other two though
