Biggest Boozer

While on my 3rd trip round Dallas saga, I began to start counting who drank the most, so far I have JR and believe it or not Sue Ellen at the tipple the most during and up to series 6. Keep you updated if we get any other late runners. Cliff and Bobby are not doing badly either. The one who drinks the least is Lucy but then I suppose she was only a child, Hmmm!!!

Despite SE's affair with the bottle I say JR has her beat by a mile. He can't seem to go five seconds without a glass of booze.

I know, everyone always pegs Sue Ellen as the sole drunk. JR picks up a damn glass in practically every scene!!

I always wondered how many glasses he had during the run of the show. I bet it has to be in the high thousands.

Depending on you gauge it in terms of screen time (relative to each other), Digger Barnes, despite not appearing in very many episodes, certainly did his fair share.

I noticed that too....seldom an episode went by when he didn't need a dose of bourbon and branch.

I guess J.R. figured since he didn't go out on drunken binges like Sue Ellen that makes him less of an alcoholic than she. He wishes!

Generally speaking he only hit the booze hard after Jock's death.

Ray also knocked back a fair bit around that time.

Larry off screen - how he managed to pull off playing JR after his bottles of chmpagne a day and then onto spirits is a small wonder! You'd never know he drank so much!

I remember on the 2002 ITV Dallas "After they were Famous" show, Patrick Duffy recalled that they (the show) never lost a single bit of footage as a result of Larry's drinking.

JR had stopped drinking by 1996 (JR Returns) but Sue Ellen had a good nine or ten years on him. Score one for Sugar!

I am going to go with J.R. because even though Sue Ellen was drunk more often I think J.R. drank a lot more often, but got drunk a lot less than Sue Ellen. As for Lucy her main problem was pills and considering her father's little alcohol problem I would think she would a big aversion to it.

Certainly somethnig I never knew that JR was drinking off stage, I knew he used to smoke and cut that out. I think we can all almost agree that JR was the man and the botttle, although he was very rarely drunk.

Ray - being a cowboy is thirsty work. I bet he was down the bar every chance he got, and he must have put away a tidy amount when he was going through that depression.
