    Question Pam's departure, JR's delight?

Do you think JR was happy that Pam met such a sticky end? I thought this was topical now as you guys in the States are seeing it.. He seemed genuinely upset for Bobby. Remember the very touching scene when he touches his shoulder on the patio? But then he is also in a rush to get him back to work....

I don't think JR was happy that Pam was in a horrible car accident. As much as JR hated Pam, I don't think JR ever liked tragedy. I don't think I ever remember JR being happy that someone "met a horrible accident or death". I remember he felt badly when Rebecca and Mark both died and even attended Digger's funeral when Digger died. JR was into destroying people and watching them suffer through wealth and power not death.

However, if it was Cliff maybe it'd be a happy day for him.

I think JR was genuinely sad when Pam crashed. Even though there was really no love lost between the two, he would not want her hurt.

Was JR happy? No. I think he really had a respect for Pamela, especially in the early episodes when she stood up to him and didn't "cower to his power".
Though he did like to say, "I really hate that woman." I believe he thought of her as a worthy adversary. He wanted her out of Bobby's life and away from SF but not dead.

JR expressed what seemed to be real guilt and sorrow when Pam was thought to have met an unfortunate end in the emerald mine storyline. But I think that was part of the dream, I can't remember.

With the exception of Bobby & Christopher, everybody else's reaction in the family to Pam's departure was incredibly lame. JR seemed more upset then Sue Ellen or Miss Ellie.

Maybe even though JR refused to admit it, he has grown rather fond of Pam, with her living on Southfork all of these years, even though she is and always will be a Barnes, she was no threat to the Ewings whatsoever. And I believe JR knew that. He just wanted to be as wicked as possible.
