Police Woman
OK I don't think this is already a thread...and Marky's avitar sparked my muse...
I remember my gram watching this show faithfully every week...and I used to watch it with her...but it wasn't until I was in high school and saw it in rerums...waking up at three am to watch it with one eye open...that I really took an interest in this classic show from the 70's...starring Angie Dickinson as Sgt. Pepper Anderson...
anyone else remember this show?
I have a few questions about it.
The first one being...
What the hell was Styles' first name? (the black detective)

Remember when she slapped Larry Hagman? She may have been the first!

NOOOO...I don't remember that one...dammit they need to release this on dvd...explain for me...
oh yeah next question...
Were Pepper and Crowley ever erm...you know.

Larry plays a drug dealer involved in a stewardess-smuggling ring.
He's very JR in this, complete with John Parker music and Mrs. Scottfield ---although he's still a very under-Jock's-thumb type of early not-quite-grown-up JR, ascots included.

Ok...ok...and Pepper slaps him?

Okay, it's been a while but I believe Styles's first name was Joe. And to the best of my recollection Pep and Crowley never . . . um . . .er . . . well, it was the seventies. Mostly they just looked at each other and kept the viewer wondering.
I don't remember Larry Hagman on it but I did notice even before Dallas that he had this other side to him. He was still best known for sitcoms but he was very adept at nasty as well. Anyone remember an episode of The Name of the Game called "A Capitol Affair"? He played the assistant to a gossip columnist and was methodically trying to make her think she was losing her mind so he could take her job.

sorry that's before my time...
and Mrs Scottfield...(from Dallas right?)
what I liked about Police Woman was..here you have a female cop...she wasn't so glamourous that she couldn't get her clothes dirty or hair messed up...she was a real Cop chick...and I truly dug Pepper...she was just too cool.

I used to love Police Woman, Pepper Anderson rocked

She did during her first season, certainly... Afterwards, the Powers that Be had her spayed and her character--- and the show--- went from being quite dynamic to listless and almost apologetic.
Ah, politics.

Yep...the politics of UnHOLYwood...raped the show of its creativity as it did so many of my fav shows...Like Space 1999

Does anyone know if Angie Dickenson is still acting, she didnt seem to do much after Police Woman and i thought she was a pretty good actress !
-
-
-
She could be very uneven... It seemed that she never had any confidence on-screen again after the TV show, they'd so restrained her after season one.
She did some movies (mostly bad) like "Dressed to Kill" (way over-rated) where Brian DePalma had her slashed to death, and the occasional TV appearance, but not a whole lot.

Well she has done a few made for tv movies...and I know there was a reunion movie of Police Woman...maybe late 80's early 90's....See now y'all gon' have me go watch her Lifetime Intimate Portrait again to see what's up with her.

I will watch it when I get home....which should be about 5/5:15

There was a reunion movie? There are so many of those that just haven't been on here that I would love to see. I never even heard of that one.
-
-
-
Well, Angie did a couple of "PW" type TV movies/potential pilots in the 80s that were similar but not, technically, the same character.
-
-
-
Anybody seen the big Bad Mama movies...I think there were two of them.

I know she did another series called "Cassie & Co." It was on here right before Knots Landing in the early days. She played a private investigator I think rather than a cop.
She was also in what amounted to a Police Story reunion movie. That would have been a good opportunity to reprise the role of Pepper but instead she played a different character.

They did an actual Police Woamn reunion movie too.
Yeah I remember Cassie and Co. didn't last long. but the song is good...Grover Washington JR...can't go wrong twith him.
