Question Melrose Place/Beverly Hills/Models INC. 90210 on DVD

This has probably been asked before, but I used to watch Beverly Hills 90210 with my sis and it's made me a huge fan of not just the show but one of the reasons why I like soaps or nihttime soaps anyway. And I've only heard of Melrose Place and Models INC. was on I Love the 90's.

So out of curosity, will these be hitting DVD anytime soon?

(And if not does anyone know where to find them or be willing to share their old tapes?)

    Thanks!

A while back it was reported that 90210 and Melrose are on a list to be released by Paramount, but no date or time frame has been announced.

Judging by the Charmed DVDs from Paramount, I wouldn't expect any extras or good coverart. The only good thing about them is the quick release.

Paramount also didn't put any extras on the Sex and the City DVDs, but the Star Trek ones are chock-full of them, so let's wait and see. There certainly could be some extras on the MP sets: the special episode Love Thy Neighbor: The Best and the Baddest of Melrose Place, which is erroneously considered as an official episode even though it is a retrospective presented by Daphne Zuniga and is NEVER aired during repeats and the E!True Hollywood Story episode on Melrose Place for starters. And I hope they do realize that the Summer of Love episodes belong to Season 6, not Season 7.

Given that I'm only 15, I didn't care for (or even know about ) Melrose Place, 90210, and Models INC when they were on. Now that I love the OC (which is basically a rip-off of all previous nighttime soaps, but oh well I still love it) I have watched the Beverly Hills 90210 pilot, which can be bought on amazon.com, and I absolutely loved it! I would like to watch more and more of it, but I don't have SOAPNet so that's out of the question. If only they would release it on DVD, along with MP and Models INC, I would so buy them all! I've bought all of the seasons that are released so far of Dawson's Creek, Felicity, Party of Five, Dallas, and Dynasty so I'd also buy 90210, MP, and Models..as would many other people.

Default Summer of Love was season 7...

Yes, they were part of season 6, but in episode guides, and on FOX, they propoted them as season 7, so that's how they will be on the DVD's I am sure. Season 6 DVD will end with Amanda on the Plane telling Rory "I sure as hell don't deserve any better."

On FOX they promoted "Divorce Dominican Style" as "And now, the season premiere...of Melrose Place"...remember the previews? "Now tonight, all the secrets will be revealed, and all the lies will be exposed...as FOX presents the season premiere...of Melrose Place" (Fade into Island with Amanda and Rory)...

Melrose will be a big success on DVD and so will 90210. Models Inc. maybe not, but it's only 1 season long, and it was a great show, it should have lasted longer.
Finally I got to work on one of my favorite nighttime soaps, Desperate Housewives! Did you guys all see Gabby push my Steel Worker character in episode 8.16 You Take For Granted?

Check out my trailer to my first short film Womanizer. It's gonna be a lot like Melrose Place/Dallas and was written by me and directed by Drew Barrymore's brother John! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0vxn-MdEIY (the trailer) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4X_-6rEesBA(extended trailer)

I don't know about that... I have seen countless one season shows be released on DVD that weren't worth the release. With VH1 airing "I Love The 90's: Part Deux" nearly every quarter and enough votes on TVshowsonDVD.com, we might be graced with Models Inc. on DVD one day.

Maybe I didn't state it clearly enough, but of course I knew that Summer of Love was considered Season 7 if you go by episode guides and promos, but to me it's all so wrong.

To any person who watches the show without knowing this beforehand, the obvious assumption is that "The World According To Matt" is the Season 7 Premiere and indeed it is! The season 7 Promo Pics WERE taken before "The World According To Matt" NOT before "Divorce, Dominican Style" as is evidenced by Josie Bissett, John Haymes Newton and Rena Sofer getting some and by Jamie Luner's darker hair color. Summer of Love WAS filmed as part of Season 6, they sure as Hell didn't make a break, then call Linden Ashby, Andrew Shue, Lisa Rinna, Brooke Langton and Alyssa Milano in the middle of their break to shoot those seven episodes that would lead to their departures. And Heather Locklear wasn't magically made a co-producer after seven episodes of Season 7.

FOX are just a bunch of morons that thought by promoting Summer of Love as episodes from the new season, they would attract more new viewers than by saying "OK, here are FINALLY the remaining episodes from the season we interrupted for a while for retooling". For the show's sake, it doesn't make ANY sense to put those episodes on the Season 7 DVDs, should the first few seasons prove successful enough for Paramount to even release Seasons 6 and 7.

Wouldn't they be told about it by Spelling and the cast while shooting bonus material, though? I'd imagine for such an iconic show as MP, they would be willing to put extras, and I'm sure people like Thomas Calabro (the only cast member who stayed for the whole run), Lisa Rinna or Courtney Thorne-Smith would be glad to contribute in some way. It's plausible that when remembering, Calabro would talk about the retooling that took place before the last season, which started with the 200th episode landmark ("The World According To Matt" is officially the 200th episode, when you count Love Thy Neighbor as episode #83).

The other short lived releases give me hope! Models Inc might not be that successful, but it's a one off release, will be easy to make because of the lack of extras and it would be a nice thing to complete the release.

BTW, success for Melrose/90210 doesn't matter. The way Paramount announced the releases of their DVDs is on a regular format, not release one and see how it sells. This has proven true for the Charmed DVDs which worldwide have come out two months after each other. In the US, they've been delayed a little more than that, but still are coming out on a pretty regular format (S2 in Sept./S3 in Nov).

As for the S6/S7 deal, it could go either way really. Wonder Woman's first season took place over two tv seasons, but they just combined them since it added up to a short 13 episode order. This would make sense here as well.

I think the reason they did it is so viewers wouldn't stop watching because of all the exits over the summer.

I loved Models Inc when I was in high school. It is nice to know I wasn't the only one who watched it!

I remember the summer of love promo back in 1998. Season 6 had totally sucked and then all of the sudden when FOX did the previews for the next episode I was shocked to see that it was going to be the 2 hours cliffhanger. I was looking forward to it, the MP finales were always full of twists, but was dissapointed there was no cliffhanger.

Then, I thought it was going to be the coolest thing to actually watch MP in the summer since everything was in re-runs. I expected them to actually show MP in the beginning of July but the whole sumer of love really started in August so it wasn't really a whole summer only half of the summer. Every week I kept buying tv guide for MP's premiere date.

I actually have the TV Guide for the premiere date in season 7 with a whole ad about how MP was going to air for the next 10 months non-stop. Another TV Guide also mentioned how a season 8 was planned.

I also remember the spoilers during that season during Access Hollywood about how something about Amanda's past was going to come back to haunt her with murder and Jane was going to hook up with her real life hubby, rob estes

What's funny is that season 6 has actually no cliffhanger, so was it better to watch bueno sera Billy Campbell as hour long episode in the so called summer of love or in the regular May season finale as a two hour shows expected something big only to be disappointed.
