My Feelings

Alright people. Here are my feelings. First, why is anybody excited about Travolta? With the exception of Goldmember, where he had a 2 second cameo, he hasn't made a movie that has done well since Swordfish in 2001. And even that had more to do with a certin part of Halle Berry's body then anything else. Second, the rest of the cast. there is no way in hell that this movie will have Brad Pitt, Catherine Zeta Jones, Matthew McCaugnhey, whoever else and Travolta. Not unless Speilberg suddenly gets involved. Sorry, this movie's budget will probably be at or under $100 Million, so expect 1 maybe 2 name stars. Last, the idea's I've heard from Jacobs, Luketic and Harling are all not Dallas. Sure it's called Dallas. Sure all the characters have the same names and personalities, but it isn't Dallas. In fact being Dallas will hurt this movie. People are tired enough of Will Ferell comedy reamkes, now you are going to give them a serious one? Plus most moviegoers are under 25. There is very little awareness of or care about Dallas in that age group. Maybe 2 years ago when the 80's were popular, but not now. Lets call the movie something else, make the families last name 'Smith' and it would have a chance. As it stands now, I don't think it will do to good.

I tend to agree. Remakes of TV shows are risky. They hardly ever work. You either have to make fun of the TV show (like the Brady Bunch movies and Starsky and Hutch) or simply steal the characters names and occupations from the original show and make up a whole new story (like The Fugitive and Mission Impossible).

But, how do you make a movie out of a soap opera? The movie is only 2 hours long.
