DALLAS DVD out in GERMANY - May 20!

According to Amazon.de, the German DVD set for the first two seasons will be out May 20 in Germany! It looks quite interesting the way they handled the episodes. As you may know, ARD (the German station airing Dallas) cut each episode from 49 to 45 minutes and never aired 5-7 episodes!!!
These will be included as an extra DVD in the original version and people will have acces to the dubbed German version of each episode as well as the English original, uncut version. I wonder if putting double episodes on the Discs will affect the quality of the DVD? What compression rate is used on these DVDs? I have a DVD recorder at home and if I use the best quality speed (HQ), I can only record 1 hour on a single-sided disc. Are these commercial DVDs corresponding to the HQ or SP recording speed of the home-made DVDs? Anybody have an idea?

DALLAS is airing weekdays on German channel KABEL 1 in the morning.

I used to watch DALLAS in German, so I would like to have the German dubbing and/or subtitle as well, too bad the US release doesn't have it, only Spanish and French, right?

I like the idea of relelasing 4 episodes as separate DVDs, are these offical releases? I didn't find these on Amazon.de. These only include the German dubbed versions but would be perfect for me since I am specifically looking for the German version of DALLAS.

Buy the official version from a reputable dealer. Its worth the extra money. The quality is impeccable. Don't scrimp on Dallas, its too important!

I love the German language. I wish there was some way to have region 1 DALLAS dubbed in German. I really don't want to go to the expense of buying a region-free palyer.

I believe that these 3 are official releases, it's not uncommon that they release episodes like this before the whole season set. I guess they had to work on the season set more and they wanted to give Dallas fans some access to the early episodes. I have bought X-Files DVDs which included just a couple of episodes, they weren't whole season sets but they are available by now as well.
Are there any German fans here that could verify the existence of these separate DVDs?

I can help you:
The first Warner DVD release was planed in November 2004, but you know, we have some problems with the episodes:

2. Our fanclub: www.dfc-stuttgart.de has a great connection to Warner Germany and fans would like to have german, english ans some bonus material. So Warner will release the DVD in May 2005.

3. These DVD's on ebay are offical DVD's from a gas-station company like shell in cooperation with Warner Germany, so the fans had not wait so long. They sold the Mini-Series and Season 1. These episodes are 49 minutes long. The 4 minutes have english subtitles.

I think they just handle it the same way, like the first dvd:

Cut German version + original, uncut English version + extra-dvd with the "missing" episodes!
German Dallas fans are "spoiled" now and if you gotta pay these 40 Euros now for just one season and not for two full seasons, I think they can t lower the "standards" that much, cause people then won t buy it anymore, for 40 bucks. All because the first dvd was done very well and the price for it, was also OK.

I think the season 1-dvd is great, it was worth the wait, you know waiting these 6/7 months longer, for Warner to correct some things on their dvd. (Like the weird "Denglisch"-, German-English-language-mix on the gas-station-dvds! )

I was so curious, about the English version ( have never seen D in English before that....) and thought it s great!
But I also really like the German dubbed version very much.
I think it s fantastic, especially for standards, given back then, in the 80s.

Always thought that the "Dynasty"-translation, for example, was so bad and cheap. I can hardly watch nor listen to it, whenever it s shown on TV, these days.

Nooooo! There is not one single "dirty" word in that title! Really.

"Schwester" means Sister in German. I don t know, maybe some German words just sound dirty for non-speakers???????????
Maybe jsut from the way you read or speak it...........

But it really is just: "Sue Ellen s sister" in German!
