    hi y'all,

just thought this needed to be posted,

many of us, infact i would say 95% of us here on this forum dont yet have a copy of the Barbara Curran book.
Were either waiting for it to be released in the shops, or sum have ordered from the net and are waiting for it to be delivered, but regardless, there are only a few here who actually have it at this moment in time, and i am seeing lots of quotes from this book and to be honest i think whats the point in us buying it?
ITs cool that som of you's have it already and youve read it and enjoyed it, but all im saying is for the majoirty of us who dont yet own it, can you please give us the chance to buy it and read it for ourselves, rather than see tons and tons of quotes and extracts in posts on this forum?
If you feel the need to use a quote or extract then at the start of your message just make it obivous by going...

    SPOILERS IN THIS POST!!!!!!!!!!!!

or sumthing to that effect, but i havent seen any of that, so when it comes to the message i end up reading something, and it says thats taken from barbaras book ect ect,
i know you may say well if you come across one then simply skip it, but sometimes i dont realise its a quote until after ive read a bit, and although its only a fraction of a huge book it seems, it still spoils it.

So all im asking is could the people please put in there posts sumthing to make it known that its containing spoilers ect, because it does ruin it for other people. I remember when Larrys book came out and nobody really posted quotes or anything from it, we all posted saying yes its great we luv it ect, but we left it for the members to buy and read without chunks of it appearing on this forum, which i think was nice, so i think we should do that here now. Its not like forever, only for a couple of weeks while the book is still new and people are waiting on the release and copies to crop up ect, once weve all got it then it doesnt matter.

    Thanks,

    Dan

Yes I agree to a 'degree', I have not seen all the quotes and some were obvious book discussions, like those by james. But I have been very careful in what I read because I dont want the book ruined for me.

Spoiler in the title could be a great idea, or we could keep a seperate forum for the book and then put those posts over here in a month or so.

Well, this is obviously directed at me because no one else has been irritating enough to go on and on about already having a copy of the book . I've been careful to preface all my quotes with "According to Barbara Curran's book", but I'm happy to highlight that preface in future, i.e. According to Barbara Curran's book, so it's clearer. Is that OK with you, Dan?

I don't suppose everyone is planning to get the book, so it's nice to able to share titbits when they seem relevant to an ongoing discussion.
"Anyone who reacts critically to a show in a written-down form, whether it's professionally or in a blog, is responding to the programme in a perfectly valid way, but in an utterly atypical way. That's just not how people watch television." - Steven Moffat

    hi yas.

maybe james some of the pages of the book can go on a page somewhere on the utlimatedallas.com website? i dunno, pam, what do you think of that?
So then people who dont buy it can read some of it online and look at sum of the pics perhaps, im not syaing the whole book, maybe just a few select pages or chapters, ive not got it yet so i dont even know wot its like myself. But that might be a good way to share the info with people who dont plan on buying it and are only interested in certain parts of the book.

I didnt want to make this out to be a big thing or anything, i think if u just say like ur going to and put it in bold so then i know to skip past it and thats its book stuff,

I really can't wait to get mine, it does sound good, and to a certain degree sum of the things youve said james have made me want to buy it more, but i just dont want to read anything more from it for me personally.

Glad nobody took this the wrong way,

    Dan

I have always noticed you preface info and statements from Barbara Curran's book with "According to Barbara Curran's book" to alert the reader not to read further if they'd rather read it themselves when they get their copy. I've only noticed 2 or 3 paragraphs (chunks) quoted by you from her book, which I liked reading anyway, and considering the book is about 700 or 800 pages, I really don't think it's gonna make much difference in terms of "spoiling" anyone's enjoyment of reading the book since your quotes are just "a drop in the ocean" anyway. It's a damn BIG book !

TV channels are forever showing bits of scenes from upcoming episodes of shows, etc. Is that "spoiling" too? Yet they've been doing it for years. And upcoming storylines in soaps are constantly being deliberately leaked to the press and to TV magazines, etc. I consider James's quotes from the book as "teasers" to "wet our apetite" just like the TV channels do everyday !

    Just my opinion.

I didnt think James post were an issue, I have not come across any posts which didnt make it clear so Im not quite sure of the problem then. I thought maybe there are other posts around that Dan was referring too that I have not seen.

there is no one post in specific,
but the reason i posted this was becauase - and im glad b4 i go on that james hasnt taken this badly, hes been nice about it, and ive seen him write "accoridng to,,,," before the quotes,

but what i was going to say is, the reason i made this is not just coz james has the book, but im sure in the next few days more and more people will be getting copies ect, so with more people owning a copy theres more chance of things being spoiled for people, so all im saying is in advance, as well as the quotes that have been made, in advance can everybody bear in the mind the *SPOILERS* thing, if that makes sense?

If not then just ignore me, lol,

    Dan
