Were any of Cliff's lovers right for him?

I've always thought that he really liked Sue Ellen, and would have loved to been with her. But he already had one shot and mis-used it.

Afton, would have been a great companion for Cliff. If he would have just treated a little better than the family mutt.

I think he should have treated Afton better; I think she truly loved him. I think Cliff was in love with Sue Ellen, SE cared for him but I think she was mainly with him cause she knew it drove JR crazy. Cliff and Sue Ellen were hot together though I thought!

And Marilee Stone---not worth mentioning. Jamie neither; he was only with her cause she was a Ewing.

Well he was really in love with Sue Ellen but even if that did work out I'd say J.R would have put a stop to it pretty fast.

I think Afton suited him best.She was utterly devoted to him with no motives behind her love.

Chinese food, and Afton nailed it best when she said that he made JR look like a saint. He was a cold man who only cared about Cliff

Cliff didn't make J.R. look like a saint--- Cliff just had less "status"... in life AND in the context of the show. They were both jerks.

Sue Ellen was treated well by Cliff ONLY because he saw her as the greatest "prize" due to her relationship with J.R. and the Ewings.

Curiously, though--- and I've always said this and I'm not sure what it means, but I've always remembered the ladies on the show much more thru their relationships with Cliff than with J.R. (Sue Ellen being the main exception, of course), especially since J.R. and Cliff shared most of them.
Maybe because you got the obvious feeling they were disposable to J.R., but to Cliff, as badly as he treated them all, you knew how much he NEEDED them-- at all times!

I think that Afton was really good for Cliff. She was always there for him, but he treated her like crap most of the time. I honestly wish that they would have got married and he would have treated her better.
Really though, the only woman that I think Cliff really adored and payed more attention to was Sue Ellen.

Actually, Sue Ellen DID love Cliff and was ready to leave JR for him. Unfortnately, Cliff was afraid of losing his politic power due to a scandal...hence this is when Sue Ellen's drinking really went out of control and she was stuck with JR (well, until Dusty came along ).

Afton loved him but he did not treat her properly....SO

I'd say Sue Ellen but it just never worked out -Cliff again blew it with her the 2nd time when he asked her for money....
