Actually, having there be no catfight this time around doesn't bother me. Mostly because, we've already had a Fallon/SammyJo catfight in the original series. So no loss is to be had.

Also, forgot to mention this earlier: I approve of Jeff and Fallon's relationship this time around, because its stated right from the start that Jeff and Fallon have always been attracted to each other, whereas in the old show, Jeff was obsessively in love with her, and Fallon couldn't stand Jeff at first. I just couldn't see why Jeff would love Fallon so much, or exactly how Fallon came to love him back. Their whole romance just felt off.

At least this time around, its possible their romance will make more sense.

I guess he had been in love with her his whole life (from first memories anyway) and to her, he was just the guy from Nine Oaks.
She wanted to marry Cecil, yes, but did she really want to be his wife? I'm not so sure about that.
She didn't want to marry Jeff, at least that was obvious.
But babies often seem to have a strong impact on soap-relations and marriages. That's the only explanation I can think of.
And Jeff was genuine and reliable, unlike most men in her life. Perhaps at some point she started to "grow up" and appreciated Jeff for what he was.
    Life can change people.

I suppose so. That's the way how a lot of relationships are in soaps and dramas. Heh heh, though if you factor in the fact that Jeff slept with Claudia while Fallon was giving birth (not that he was aware of it), and later slept with Kirby while still married to Fallon, and then slept with Fallon while married to Kirby (whom he thought was pregnant with his child), and then slept with Leslie after that whole fiasco with the aliens... he doesn't seem so genuine and reliable.

But then again, compare him to the rest of the guys in her life. He actually seems like a nice guy compared to them. XD

No, Zorelli wasn't like that. And Miles would've done anything for her as well.

Yes, I liked Zorelli. He was relatively sane and could hold his own. X)

Though indeed, Miles really did do anything for Fallon. And that was scary at times.

Hold up. How can this Fallon and Jeff have gone to the same high school together being so far apart socioeconomically? The original Fallon attended the famous Miss Porter's - where Jackie Kennedy went to school. Does this Fallon not have the same education or upbringing as the original? Did she go to public school ("heaven for fend" as PSM used to say as Fallon)? Hey I graduated from a public high school but this isn't me we're taking about , it's Fallon! I'm with so many of you on here: I'm not picking up what their throwing down. I like this guy as Jeff, but make his background wealthy and snooty like Jeff was in the beginning and put him on even playing field with Fallon and Steven like he always was. Blake is the only self made man around here, remember?

We should start bets. I'm of the opinion that viewers in general are over this genre of filthy rich people with ordinary problems. It will probably get a second season but I'll be surprised if it gets a third.

I can accept a re-boot and if any of the three commercial networks in Australia care to pick it up I'll give Dynasty 2.0 a look. I'm just accepting of other views and their concerns and since this is a re-boot I'll take it as is. TNT Dallas has in no part tarnished or destroyed my memory of Lorimar Dallas. For the umpteenth time I'm re-watching Lorimar Dallas and enjoy it thoroughly without TNT Dallas impacting the way I view it. Though TNT Dallas was a continuation I see it as a Chapter that fits in the Dallas Universe.

I just don't buy Jeff as a black self-made man - the whole point of the Colby's and Carringtons was that they were the original WASPs, with Colby's being of the old money and almost unlimited resources. This basically is changing everything about Jeff from the ground up bar the name - and don't get me started on Fallon wanting revenge on Blake? That doesn't ring true to Fallon's character at all. If anything she had an unhealthy attachment to her father, which is why she hated Krystle.

They may have thrown out the old rules, and they're using an all new sweries bible.

Otherwise they'd just update the old one, and refilm Oil, with new actors, and modern sets.

Don't get me wrong - I don't want a scene-by-scene re-enactment, but I also don't want fundamentally changed characters because they might as well just make up an entirely new show. Yes, I get the whole issue of cashing in on an old outdated property.

I like Wentworth as a show and they often merge and twist characters around quite a bit, but some are still recognizable with certain elements put into them from the original show. I just don't get anything "Jeff Colby" about the description bar naming him Jeff Colby. Jeff was a WASPY priviliged dork who was poised to work in the family business.

Just had a thought and I apologize if I've missed any of you posting this: if Blake is so bad in his dealings to the point his daughter is taking revenge on him, could it be that HE is the villain? Does that mean there may not be an Alexis? I mean what is the point of Alexis now if Blake is the bad guy and his own daughter is against him? And add to that trying to find an actress to fill Joan's , how can this possibly be pulled off?

I honestly do not know where they're going with this reboot, if you can call it that, as it feels like a completely new show, so far Fallon hates Blake, Krystle (I refuse to spell it Cristal) is Hispanic, Jeff is black, apparently Samantha Josephine will become Samuel Jonathan, with no Alexis in sight.

I have problem with these changes, but it smacks of patronising political correctness, Dynasty already had a main black character and the only one of the big 4 soaps in the 80s to have one.

If they wanted to make that many changes why can't they just do a continuation instead, you could do all of the changes and put it into the next generation.

Dominique and Nick could have a thirty year old son (who would obviously be black) who comes to Denver for the wedding of his cousin
Adam who is marrying a young Latino lady in her thirties or early 40s (I liked that in the original Krystle was a mature woman in her mid thirties with life experiences, making "Cristal" in her late twenties takes those life experiences and what made Krystle, Krystle away) said Latino lady would have a male relative who is equivalent to Sammy Jo and he is gay and falls for LB Colby.....

That's all they would have to do, I'm going to treat this show as an entirely new show unrelated to Dynasty.

Please understand that I don't have a problem with anyone because I don't, we are all friends here ;-)

Doesn't Jeff Colby sound more like Toscanni?

Self-made man after revenge against Blake...

What are y'all talking about? Diversity today is a must for all new TV shows. And they can't just copy the old show, it's a reboot, things have to be different or everyone will already know the direction it is going to take. The surprise factor won't be there as much if we already know how these characters will act. It will depend on the writing, it always comes down to that. People should wait until we see the writing before judging it too much. Skin color or what-not doesn't matter as long as the writing is good. This is not like Dallas- the new Dallas was a continuation (a bad one), not a reboot (though it became one). It still has the core structure in place with Blake being the head- their motives might change, but the basic characters and premise are there.

The new Dynasty follows two of America’s wealthiest families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, as they feud for control over their fortune and their children.

We won't know the quality of the actual writing until we see it. Then people can decide if it's ruining the legacy or adding to it.
