Hi guys. This is the first peice of fan fiction I have ever wrote so I hope you all like it. Its set half way through DVD Season 7 of Dallas and in my mind its what might have been. I've had this idea for ages now, I even mentioned it on the Official Forum as an alternate storyline. I recently found Dallas Writers Room and I am relatively new to fan fiction, but seeing all your work inspired me to have a go. I got a 1 in Standard Grade English so my writing can't be that bad, if there are any mistakes sorry. Mrs Superman 93 I am aware that the start of this story is very similar to yours, I hope you don't think I am ripping you off or anything. I promise once the story starts to get going its very different. Your story is amazing, particularly the narrative which gave me rough idea at what I was aiming for. Comments are welcome.
Chapeter 1 Perpendicular

JR was slumped in his chair with his boots resting on the corner of his desk. He wanted to get out of the office, but when he checked his watch it was only half past two. He got Sly to bring him in lunch about an hour ago and he devoured the sandwich she had presented him with. He didn’t have breakfast that morning, he didn’t want to listen to his wife and son go on about how “neat” Peter was. JR didn’t have anything against the boy, well he couldn’t think of anything he could hold against him anyway. He would be ashamed to admit to anyone, but he was jealous of the affection Peter received not only from John Ross but Sue Ellen as well. JR couldn’t see the appeal in th teenager. Sure he was smart and slightly good looking., but why would his son want to spend more time with him than his own father. JR knew that it was his own fault and he hated that more than anything.

He had spent the last year being so caught up in the fight for Ewing Oil that he had neglected John Ross. What JR couldn’t to work out was why Peter was so interested in John Ross. John Ross didn’t even attend the day camp anymore, Peter was at Southfork nearly every day entertaining the boy. He thought that it was strange that a young man spent his spare time with a child instead of with people his own age, after all when JR was Peter’s age he was out enjoying himself. The reminiscing about his college days distracted JR and made him smile until he looked at Sue Ellen’s picture on his desk. That was why Peter spent so much time at Southfork, not to be around John Ross but to be around his mother. It was quite obvious to JR that Peter had a crush on Sue Ellen. At first JR considered it to be insignificant and even funny, he had even teased Sue Ellen about it. JR wasn’t worried that Sue Ellen would take such an interest in the boy, let alone an affair. This was despite the fact she had every right to considering the way JR had treated her. JR started to doubt his initial opinion on the subject, Sue Ellen had affairs before when she wanted to get her on back on JR. Would Peter be any different? Then JR grinned to himself as he remembered the night before the Oil Baron’s Ball.

It wasn’t that long after they moved back into Southfork after the fire. At Sue Ellen’s request they had separate bedrooms. Although JR initially objected this, he realized he would have to accept it if he wanted his wife and son to remain at Southfork. He was in bed reading a book when Sue Ellen burst through the door, at first he thought she was going to start another argument. And then he was delighted when he saw what she was wearing. He was speechless when Sue Ellen pounced on him. The sex that night was amazing and Sue Ellen was in full control. JR got hot thinking about it and was embarrassed that he had to tug at his collar in an attempt to cool himself down. For the few minutes after ward he held Sue Ellen in his arms and he felt confident that Sue Ellen had forgiven him for the Holly Hardwood incident and their marriage was back on track. But his hopes were dashed when Sue Ellen got up to leave. She harshly told him that it was by no means a reconciliation and she just needed a man for the night. Although JR made many efforts to encourage Sue Ellen to have this need again, she didn’t and was infuriated when JR even brought the subject up.

“Damn that woman won’t even let me touch her.” JR said to himself. What if she was letting Peter touch her, what if she was letting Peter satisfy her needs. JR told himself not to get carried away. Sue Ellen may have had affairs in the past, but she would never be as stupid to have one with a teenage boy who played with her son.

JR’s thoughts were interrupted when Bobby barged into the room.
“JR we are going to be late for that meeting with Harv Smithfield.” Bobby told JR.
“Meeting?” JR remarked.
“Tying up the loose ends of Daddy’s will. I would have reminded you this morning at breakfast but you weren’t there.” Bobby commented.
“Do we both have to go?” JR enquired, he really couldn’t be bothered with the inconvenience.
“No. But you don’t seem to be doing much work in here.” Bobby said looking at JR’s empty desk. “You’ve been sitting in here sulking ever since Jordan Lee left.”
“Bobby I ain’t been sulking. Tell you why I haven’t been as busy as usual. We haven’t had any new additions to our fields since Daddy died and our reserves are getting real low Bob.” JR said swiftly changing the subject as he picked up his stetson and followed Bobby out of the office.

*****

Sue Ellen walked the down the Southfork hall way leading to both her and JR’s bedrooms. She had to speed up her pace when she felt the need to vomit. She threw open the door of her en-suit and nearly missed the toilet bowl. As she washed her hands and face the brushed her teeth she counted that had been the third time that week. She thought nothing of it, she wanted to think nothing of it, she didn’t want to think what it really meant. Sue Ellen had been suspicious of her body for the last week, first the vomiting and then she missed her period. No she couldn’t be pregnant she thought to herself. But the more she thought about it the more she knew she could be.

She quickly changed out of her bathing suit and into a pair of slacks and a blouse and then sat on the edge of her bed. She calculated that she had only had sex twice in the past two or so months. The first time it was really her own fault. She wanted to be with a man, she wanted to feel a man, she wanted to be so excited by a man that she would forget the past month. It wasn’t just any man, there was no other man like JR. She felt lust for him that she hadn’t felt in years. She longed for JR’s touch and since he was only across the hall she couldn‘t resist. She usually took precautions, she definitely didn’t want another child with JR or anyone else. But since her visit to JR’s bedroom was a moment of passion she nor JR had the chance to even think about birth control.

The only other possibility was Peter, and she had to admit she would have preferred it if the unconfirmed unborn child were JR’s. It would be so much easier. Her encounter with Peter had been less passionate than with JR. She didn’t want to sleep with him, she didn’t even want to kiss him. She initially pulled out of his kiss, but she then saw the look of despair in his eyes. She felt guilty about leading him on for all those weeks just to prove a point to JR and she let him continue. As it was happening Sue Ellen knew that it was sick, it was wrong that a woman of her age should be with a boy so young. It disturbed her to think Peter was closer to John Ross’ age than her own. Sue Ellen was still disgusted by herself for what she had done, by what she had let happen. The only comforting thought she had was Peter did use a condom. She thought it was ironic that someone as young, innocent and inexperienced as Peter would have thought to use protection when JR Ewing the infamous stud of Dallas didn’t. This thought still wasn’t comforting, she knew condoms were unreliable.

Oh god she thought to herself. Sue Ellen didn’t know what was worse. Her being pregnant with JR’s baby when their marriage was held together for John Ross‘ sake. Or being pregnant with Peter’s which would no doubt force her to leave Southfork and her son. She had scared herself so much that she didn’t even notice she was crying. How stupid, she thought. I don’t even know if I am pregnant. She gazed at the clock on her dresser. If she hurried she could visit the drugstore in Braddock to buy one of those home pregnancy tests before picking John Ross up from school. She had to find out if she really was in the mess she thought she was in.
She told Theresa that she was going to pick John Ross up from school and walked out of the house. On the drive way she was horrified to bump into Peter.

“Oh… Peter… What are you doing here? We weren’t expecting you toady.” Sue Ellen mumbled.
“Well I guess I thought I would come and see John Ross.” Peter smiled.
“I am sorry I was just on my way out to pick him up for school and I promised I would take him for an ice cream after.” Sue Ellen lied.
“Why don’t you let one of the hands pick him up? I’m sure he will forget about the ice cream when I show him a new dive or something.” Peter said as he placed his hand on Sue Ellen’s shoulder. Sue Ellen wasn’t stupid, she knew what Peter wanted to do whilst waiting for John Ross‘ return from school.
“Peter… I have told you its inappropriate to come to the ranch after what happened. It was wrong and it never should have happened.” Sue Ellen replied whilst shrugging Peter’s hand off her shoulder.
“What we did wasn’t wrong. It was right. I love you Sue Ellen and I want us to be together.”
“Peter, I don’t love you, I never have. What we did was a mistake. I’m a married woman.”
“Married? Your husband doesn’t treat you the way I would. He cheats on you all the time. You said it yourself that you hadn’t been close in months.” Peter interrupted.
“Don’t you dare talk about my husband that way. Our marriage is none of your business Peter. In fact nothing to do with the Ewing family is your business. I didn’t want it to come to this, but … I don’t want John Ross to see you anymore Peter, I don’t want to see you on this ranch again. I don’t want to see you again.” Sue Ellen knew she was being harsh and she was probably breaking Peter’s heart, but she had to be clear.
“But Sue Ellen.” Peter pleaded.
“No… Peter its over. Finished. If you will excuse me I am in a hurry… If you don’t leave now I will have to get one of the hands to force you to.” Sue Ellen replied. Peter didn’t say anything, he just got into his car angrily and drove off. Sue Ellen felt guilty about what she had said, but she no matter who’s baby she was pregnant with, Peter couldn’t find out about it. Sue Ellen gazed at her watch. That’s just great. I’ll have to pick John Ross up from school first.

******

“John Ross I want you to be good boy for Mama and stay in the car when I go and get something from the store. If you are good we can go for ice cream.” Sue Ellen said smiling at her son.
“Sure Mama.” John Ross exclaimed.

Sue Ellen was overwhelmed by all the different brands of pregnancy tests. She inspected the most expensive one thinking something along the lines of you get what you pay for. On the packaging it claimed to produce the most accurate results. She decided to buy that one. She browsed the other shelves out of curiosity. She found it slightly funny how the condoms were right next to the pregnancy tests. She again inspected the packaging. Apparently condoms were reliable ninety-three percent of the time. This was a comforting statistic. Sue Ellen was happy in the knowledge that JR was most probably the father of the child, that’s if she was pregnant. Feeling relived by the figure on the back of the box she bought the test and left the store. Well JR is my husband. There really isn’t anything wrong with a man getting his wife pregnant, Sue Ellen reminded herself. But then she winced at the thought of another child being used as a pawn against her in another one of JR’s games.

“Mama, what did you buy?” John Ross enquired.
“Oh just something for me. Now lets go and get you some ice cream!” Sue Ellen laughed. She smiled at her beautiful son. She initially ignored John Ross when he was first born, she was in a deep post natal depression which was solved by months of therapy. It had changed her. She loved that someone depended on her and that she had something worth getting up in the morning for. She knew that JR may not be the world’s husband, but he excelled at being a father. JR had told her he would rather than die than see John Ross hurt. She almost felt selfish when she dismissed JR’s suggestion of having more children. Sue Ellen didn’t doubt JR’s ability to love a baby. What she was worried about was the position it would put her in. She knew that if she ever decided to leave JR she would have to leave her children at Southfork. JR was persuaded by his mother not use everything he had against his wife in the custody battle for John Ross before they got remarried, Sue Ellen didn’t think JR would give in to his mother again if the situation repeated itself. Sue Ellen was under no illusions, JR would destroy her in court if he thought Sue Ellen would deny him his children.

“Mama whats the matter? You look sad.” John Ross quizzed.
“Not I’m not sad. I’m just thinking about all the mess your going to make with that ice cream!”

*******

JR followed Bobby’s car all the way from Dallas to the Braddock road. He looked at the clock, it was only half past four. The meeting with Harv passed quickly. If he followed Bobby home he would be home in a matter of minutes. The more he thought about it the more he realized there was really no need to be home so early. There wasn’t anything for him to do until dinner. No doubt Peter would be there, so that would be John Ross occupied. He didn’t expect any attention from Sue Ellen either, she was always busy these days or at least pretending to be busy. She had avoided him al week, she claimed she was ill and didn‘t want to pass it on to anyone. Bobby was going right out to pick up Jenna for dinner. Mama would be out gallivanting with that idiot Clayton Farlow whome she intended to marry. The more he considered the prospect of going home the more he didn’t want to.

He needed to be back in time to change for dinner, but he still had a couple of hours until then. He u-turned and pulled in to the car park of a bar in Braddock. JR wouldn’t get much company there, but at least it gave him the chance to have a couple of drinks in peace and quiet where he could have a real hard think about things.

*****

Sue Ellen was also having a chance to have a real good think. She sat on the corner of her bed with the pregnancy test in her hand.
“It was only supposed to take minutes to give you a result.” Sue Ellen moaned to herself without realizing it hadn’t been one minute yet. She couldn’t be pregnant. The test would show negative. This was just the scare she needed to teach her to be more careful. She kept repeating in her head I can’t be pregnant. Not now. Not when everything was just starting to settle down. Well everything except her marriage. She couldn’t bring another child into this family. JR and her were only together now because of John Ross, another child would strain their “marriage” too much. She would lose John Ross, she would lose Southfork, she would lose her family. Stop speculating she told herself, you are not pregnant. She remembered to look down. There it was, clear as day, a small cross.
“No that can’t be right.” Sue Ellen proclaimed as she frantically looked at the instructions. She read it over and over again. The cross was positive, it meant you were pregnant. Sue Ellen’s eyes widened. She crumpled the instructions in her hands when she was thinking of all the possibilities.
“I am pregnant.” Sue Ellen whimpered. How could have she lied to her self all that time. She didn’t need the test to tell her, she knew how it felt to be pregnant. And that’s what this felt like now. She clutched her hand to her stomach. She wasn’t sure whether it pleased or pained her to know that soon there would be a bump there.

Amanda Carter soon to be Ewing had only just awoke, her head was banging from the dozen drinks she had consumed the previous night at the Barbecue. Amanda lifted her head to witness her fiancé still asleep beside her. She would never of imagined it, a day ago she was living in a different country experiencing normal life but now she was in Dallas living in the Southfork Ranch with Christopher Ewing and his family, it was all she could ever hope for. Amanda used the moment of silence to her advantage by taking a look at the rest of Southfork.

Amanda carefully tiptoed down the spiral staircase that led to the first floor of the Ewing household. Amanda made her way to the spacious kitchen area where she noticed John Ross Ewing; Christopher's cousin, consuming a glass of orange juice in his pyjamas. “John Ross, I don't think we've been formally introduced. I'm Amanda Carter” Amanda said, hoping to get to know her future cousin in law. “Nice to meet you properly that is Amanda. I see your engaged to my cousin. What on earth possessed you to do that?” John Ross asked chuckling. Amanda frowned at John Ross's comment. Before Amanda could retaliate Christopher had entered the room dressed in a vest and shorts. “Thanks John Ross. Could always count on you to brighten up my day, coming to bed sweetie?”.John Ross grinned at his cousin's defence responses. “It's a shame your not engaged, it's a lot nicer to be with someone instead of being alone” Amanda said, walking back to her and Christopher's bedroom. John Ross smirked before consuming a gulp of his orange juice.
__________________________________________________ ________________________

Pamela Rebecca Barnes/Cooper woke up with a splitting headache, fully aware of the events that occurred the previous night Pamela shimmied out of bed. Pamela was dressed in a black nightie that she had put on when she reached her apartment the previous night, her dress was slung on the floor as was her heels. Pamela sauntered over to the balcony in her apartment and gazed at the Dallas buildings. Suddenly Pamela was caught off guard by the sound of her elevator. In a matter of seconds Pamela felt someone's arms wrap around her waist. Pamela suddenly screamed with fear and shoved the person grabbing her, causing him to land on the sofa behind her. “Jeez Pamela, why are you so defensive?!” John Ross asked, smirking to the woman opposite him. “Damn you John Ross Ewing!” Pamela replied, even she couldn't help but cackle. “Here, I'll let you pay me back” John Ross responded pulling Pamela on top of him.
__________________________________________________ ________________________

Bobby and Sue Ellen Ewing hadn't spoke to each other recently, it was a shame, they were such good friends. “You know Sue Ellen, ever since Christopher came home I've felt more wanted and useful” Bobby said, he knew he could trust Sue Ellen just as she could trust him.
“That's good Bobby. I certainly felt the same when John Ross and I moved back years ago”Sue Ellen responded, sharing her life experience's. Bobby admired Sue Ellen, she was so confident and courageous. “After all my brother put you through, what made you come back?” Bobby asked, he had endured conversations like this before with Sue Ellen but now he wanted a truthful response. “Well Bobby. After all J.R and I have been through, all the deceit, all the lies the only thing important to me was John Ross and after much thinking It dawned on me that what John Ross needed was his father” Sue Ellen explained.

Bobby smiled in Sue Ellen's direction, it was brave of her to come back to Dallas after all the suffering J.R had put her through, but he had to admit J.R was only ever in love with one woman and that was; Sue Ellen Ewing. “Talking about me?” the voice of J.R Ewing said as he approached the kitchen area where Sue Ellen and Bobby were. “Don't flatter yourself. The whole world doesn't revolve around J.R Ewing!” Sue Ellen said. J.R smirked at his ex mistress, she's so beautiful!. “Darlin' You and I both know that ain't the truth”. Bobby and Sue Ellen turned their backs just as the doorbell rung. “J.R could you get that?” Sue Ellen asked politely.
“The world doesn't revolve around me Sue Ellen, I'm going to take a nap” J.R responded. Even Sue Ellen saw that one coming.

Bobby swung open the front door and in poured Lucy Ewing Cooper. “Lucy! What are you doing here?”Bobby asked, a smile materialised on his face. Lucy beamed at the sight of her uncle and made her way inside. Sue Ellen heard Bobby mention Lucy's name and came rushing through to the foyer. “Lucy!”Sue Ellen yelped as she hugged her niece. As soon as Sue Ellen released she stood beside Bobby waiting to here why Lucy returned.“Uncle Bobby. Remember when I told you about me and Mitch breaking up? Well it's official. He's filing for divorce, he's kicked me out of the house and everything. I was wondering if I could move back to Southfork?”.

Amanda Carter and her fiancé Christopher sauntered down the streets of Dallas in hopes of finding a wedding dress. “You know the husband shouldn't see the dress before the wedding” Amanda said, turning to face her fiancé. Christopher chuckled lightly.
“Were not gonna buy the dress today. We'll just look and you can secretly pick which one you want”Christopher replied whilst simultaneously kissing Amanda on the lips. Suddenly the couple had to stop their wedding shopping when Amanda's phone bleeped uncontrollably. “Hello?” Amanda said, noticing their was no caller ID on her phone.
“Amanda, it's Roxanne, your sister...”. Amanda's face suddenly dropped. Her parents died when she was young from terminal cancer and she was left to be raised by her brother whilst her sister went gallivanting in nightclubs leaving Amanda to be beaten and tortured by her brother, once she had escaped from the cruel torture of her brother she resented her siblings for the rest of her life and hoped that she never had to come into contact with them again, but she was wrong.

“What do you want?!” Amanda asked furiously. Christopher felt the tension between Amanda and the caller, but he had no idea who she was talking to. “Look, I know you don't want to talk to me but...I'm moving away and I found our father's will” Roxanne explained.
“Dad's will what about it?”
“I haven't been completely honest with you, when dad died you were to young to realise so I didn't mention it but each of us, you, me and Carl (Amanda's brother) inherited a million dollars each. I was going to tell you but when you ran away I didn't know how to get hold of you, until now” Roxanne explained.

Amanda felt bewildered by the fact that her brother and sister managed to keep a secret like that from her for so long. Without hesitating Amanda responded as quick as she could. “I don't want it! Any of it!”.
“I'm sorry but I've already sent it to Dallas, your old room mate Rachel told me where you were. Look I've got to go, I'm sorry I kept it from you all this time, love you” with that Roxanne hung up.

“What was that all about?”Christopher asked. After Amanda explained to him the situation she was in and the problem she would have to face they decided to quit dress shopping and headed home back to Southfork.

Amanda stormed through the doors of Southfork with Christopher following behind her. “How could she do this to me?!” Amanda muttered to herself, she threw her coat onto the floor and ran upstairs to her room.

Bobby, Sue Ellen and Lucy came rushing to the front of the house in hopes of finding out what was wrong. “Christopher what happened?” Bobby asked, his concerns for his son and his future daughter in law were growing by the second. Christopher explained the situation with Roxanne and the million dollars and her parents. After Christopher finished explaining Lucy informed Christopher of her return to Southfork and how she'd be staying.

Suddenly the doorbell rung, Christopher rushed to the door and opened it immediately. “This is for an Amanda Carter” The delivery guy said. Christopher told him that Amanda was his fiancé and accepted the package. A few hours had passed and Amanda and Christopher were conversing about the package in their room.

“I want to donate it to Charity, all of it!” Amanda said. Without hesitating Amanda wrote a check for a million dollars. “Are you sure you want to do this?”Christopher asked, Amanda's well being was in his best interests.
“I'm positive, I want nothing to do with this money”
“OK, I support you whatever you decide” Christopher responded. The pair hugged and proceeded to kiss, little did they know John Ross was listening to their conversation and had his own plans in mind.

Episode 3 – Ewing Enterprises: Amanda donates her million dollars to charity, but in reality it ends up in another Ewing's hands. J.R Finds out about John Ross's secret relationship which causes Pamela and John Ross's bond to either grow or break.

Episode 1 - Return To Southfork.
"We are Now entering Dallas" The pilot said. Christopher Ewing waited anxiously as his plane prepared to land in Dallas. Chris felt the anxiety enter his body as he glanced out of the window beside him and stared at his home trying to apprehend the excitement he was feeling. Chris had long waited to return to Southfork, the house that he had grew up in and the house he hoped for his future children to grow up in. Christopher smiled to himself upon realising how much he had missed Dallas and Southfork. Suddenly the plane had landed. Christopher clutched onto his briefcase and exited the plane with a line of people following after. The midnight air surrounded Christopher as he sauntered down a road in Dallas. "It's good to be home" Chris Muttered to himself.
__________________________________________________ __________________
John Ross Ewing had always been a catch. He was disgustingly wealthy, ridiculously handsome and majorly mean. John Ross had awoken in somebody else's bed, he wasn't one for bringing girl's home and wasn't one for commitment. John Ross rubbed his eyes and glanced at the blond female asleep. John Ross was wearing only boxers with the rest of his clothes on the floor, showing clear proof of what events had happened the night before. John Ross stumbled out of the blonde's bed and dressed into his shirt and jeans. Just as John Ross attached his watch to his wrist the blonde woman who he had slept with the previous night awoke. "John Ross?" The woman said, one eyelid already opened. "Morning Darlin' headache?" John Ross asked, smirking at the girl. "How Much did I drink?" The woman responded.
"It's probably best you don't know" and with that John Ross left her apartment.
Christopher Ewing had finally arrived at Southfork, it took him long enough but he had made it. Chris waltzed up to the front door and knocked heavily but received no answer. "Guess I'll be going round the back then". Christopher turned to the back of the Ranch and entered through a back door. His father Bobby Ewing was swimming in the Southfork pool, clearly in a relaxing mood. "Southfork seems quiet. Do you have anything to do with that?" Christopher grinned. Bobby's face lit up as he gazed intently at his son's arrival. "Christopher!" Bobby shrieked in delight, the aging man climbed out of the pool and ran over to his son. "Son, it's so good to see you, I weren't expecting you though, what took so long?" Bobby asked as he embraced his son. Christopher smiled at his father and responded. "Well. It's a long story. You know that girl I was telling you about? Amanda? Well it became pretty serious between us so I decided to stay out there. I told Amanda that I had to come back to Dallas and she understood".
Bobby smiled, his son was so prioritised so well organised and so loving. "So, your gonna try the long distance relationship thing?" Bobby asked, dying to pry the answers out of his son. "Well actually I've invited her to stay a couple of days is that OK?"
"Of course son, I can't wait to meet her" Bobby said patting his son's back. Christopher smiled in response and walked away to change clothes, before Christopher had a chance to enter The Southfork Ranch Bobby stopped him. "Oh Son, how about a good old fashioned Ewing barbecue?"
John Ross Ewing waited anxiously for his arrival. John Ross was waiting for the one man who could defeat the world single handedly, the one man who could overcome any fear and that was J.R Ewing. J.R was John Ross's father and his enemy. John Ross and J.R had a complicated relationship and often were at each other's throats. Just like Bobby and J.R. John Ross stood with his hands in his pockets as a sleek black helicopter landed in front of him. Suddenly a male figure stepped out of the now grounded helicopter holding on to a cane. "Hello father, It's been a while" John Ross said, shaking hands with his father. J.R smirked at his son and tipped his cowboy hat back. "Now son, this is how proper Ewing's greet each other" J.R said pulling his son into a hug. J.R and John Ross sauntered out of the car park they were in and walked over to their limousine.
__________________________________________________ __________________
Bobby and Christopher Ewing waited for the arrival of John Ross and J.R. Sue Ellen Ewing had also joined Chris and Bobby in wait for her ex lover and son. Sue Ellen was overcome with joy, in a matter of minutes she would be reunited with her one and only son but the downside of this was the baggage that came with him, J.R. Sue Ellen had been separated from him for several years now, certain feelings were still stuck inside her but others had disappeared completely. Christopher, Sue Ellen and Bobby turned their heads to the direction of the door as John Ross and J.R Ewing stepped inside Southfork; smiling.
"Brother" Bobby said smiling at his older brother. Bobby and J.R hugged each other tightly and let go a few seconds later. "My my Sue Ellen, your still the most beautiful woman I've ever met" J.R said smiling at his ex lover. "J.R, it is always a pleasure" Sue Ellen responded sarcastically giving him a peck on the cheek. J.R, John Ross, Sue Ellen and Bobby sat on the sofas in living room when Christopher waltzed in. "Good afternoon Christopher, it's been some time" J.R said shaking hands with his nephew.
The only people who had not said hello to each other was John Ross and Christopher. "Cousin how have you been?" John Ross asked smirking at his cousin. Christopher smiled in return. "Good. Does inviting my girlfriend qualify for a good time since I've been away?". John Ross released yet another smirk. "Inviting a girlfriend to Southfork? sounds official" John Ross responded. J.R stood up confidently over towering his son and nephew just by a few inches. "If only mama were here" J.R said glancing over to his brother.
"I've been meaning to talk to you three about something" Bobby said glancing at J.R, John Ross and Sue Ellen. "I've decided to throw a Ewing Barbecue in celebration of Christopher's return and Amanda's arrival, you up for it?".
J.R grinned. "What Ewing's would we be if we didn't attend the annual barbecue" Sue Ellen said.
"It's settled then, I'll call the rest of the family".
Pamela Rebecca Barnes lay on her bed in her apartment flicking through a magazine. Pamela was the daughter of Cliff Barnes and Afton Cooper an Oil baron and a singer. Pamela and her father were extremely wealthy because of the oil company Cliff owned; Barnes Oil. Pamela's life had been written out for her, she would marry a wealthy businessman and start her life in the Oil industry. But Pamela wasn't one for accepting authority. Pamela had only one thing that wasn't of her father's doing; Her feelings. Cliff Barnes was appalled with his daughter when he found out she dated Christopher Ewing, not because he didn't like him because he was related to him as well but because he was a Ewing. Pamela gritted her teeth in disgust as she continued to remember the orders she had always been expected to follow by her father, all this was suddenly interrupted by a phone call. Pamela flicked back her long brown hair and answered the phone. "Pamela Rebecca Barnes, how may I help you?".
"Pamela. It's Christopher. Christopher Ewing."
"Chris! I didn't know you were back in Dallas! what do ya need?" Pamela asked.
"Well, My dad and I are throwing a barbecue to celebrate my return and my girlfriend's arrival, and I'd love it if you came" Christopher explained. Pamela pondered the thought and responded. "I'd love to!".

Bobby had already made several calls to the rest of the Ewing family in regards to the Barbecue that he was hosting. “Thank you Val, yes I look forwards to seeing you. Bye” Bobby said. Bobby Ewing whizzed around to see Christopher standing in his office doorway. “I just got off the phone to Valene and Gary, they'll be joining us for the barbecue” Bobby said, smiling. “That's great” Christopher murmured. Bobby's smile suddenly dropped. “Son, what's wrong?” Bobby asked intently, he hated it when his son looked upset, it made him feel helpless and useless. “It's just. When Amanda arrives I know it will only be for a couple of days. I don't know If I can cope when she leaves” Chris explained, his father was his only true confidant and to talk to him meant everything. “Do you love Amanda?” Bobby asked intently, he wanted his son's honest and truthful answer. “Yes. With all my heart” Christopher replied, he didn't see what his love had to do with it but Bobby did. “Well then. Don't let her leave. Ask her to move into Southfork. We've got enough room and it would be nice with a woman around the house.”
“Are you serious?!” Christopher asked, he felt ecstatic inside.
“Of course, your happiness means the world to me”.
“Thanks Dad!” Christopher shrieked embracing his father in a hug.

Night had fallen on Southfork and it was now 8pm. The family of Ewing's piled through the door one by one, eager to revisit their former home. Bobby, Christopher, Sue Ellen, J.R and John Ross were already there. The first few to arrive was Gary Ewing, Valene Ewing, Ray Krebbs, Lucy Ewing Cooper and a dozen of the Ewing's friends.

Most of the family were out the back whilst a minority of the family and friends remained inside the house. Lucy Ewing Cooper sauntered over by the pool to be greeted by Bobby. “Lucy, you look stunning” Bobby said, analysing his niece's appearance. Lucy was dressed in a black v-neck dress with her long blonde hair swaying behind her. “Thank you Uncle Bobby. It seems so weird being back at Southfork, so many memories”. Bobby and Lucy smiled at one another before Bobby piped up. “Where's Mitch?” Bobby asked, referring to Lucy's husband. Lucy's face dropped at the mention of Mitch's name. “Mitch and I...aren't together any more.” Lucy explained, it was tough explaining but had to be explained.
“Oh no what happened?”
“That's a long story. One I'm not up to sharing”. Bobby smiled at his niece trying to comfort her when suddenly the doorbell rang. “Christopher, could you get that?!” Bobby asked. Bellowing to the rest of Southfork.

Christopher exited the garden and made his way to the front of Southfork. Christopher swung open the door and gazed intently at the woman opposite him. “Pamela...”. Pamela Rebecca Barnes stood opposite Christopher grinning seductively. Pamela was wearing a purple strapless dress with black heels accompanied by a black purse. Pamela's long brown hair was straightened to perfection hanging beside her. “Do I dress to Impress or do I dress to impress” Pamela asked sarcastically. Christopher chuckled in response.
“It's great that you could make it” Christopher said, pecking Pamela on the cheek.
“I couldn't let my best friend down now could I?”. Pamela placed her purse on the coffee table beside her and looked up at Christopher. “Where's Amanda?” Pamela asked curiously. “She's not here yet. Ready to go talk to the family?”.
“I don't know, they all hate me.” Pamela said, sighing. Christopher tried to comfort her. “They don't hate you. Well some do but, come on it'll be fine” Christopher responded. “Let's go show them the Pamela Rebecca I know”.

Christopher led Pamela to the garden where the rest of the family and friends were. As soon as Pamela had entered the garden everyone stopped speaking. John Ross and J.R turned around to see what all the fuss was about. Pamela felt the sharp glares that were heading towards her. “Christopher! What do you think your doing inviting a Barnes to the Ewing Barbecue?!” J.R asked pushing himself through the crowd with John Ross following behind. “Maybe I should just go” Pamela muttered turning to the front door. “Pamela, please stay” Christopher said, trying to stop his friend from leaving. “I think it would be best, I'm sorry” Pamela said.
“No Pamela you don't have to leave. If J.R is unhappy with whom I allow into my home then it is he who has to leave!” Bobby said, defending his son and his best friend. A couple of the Ewing's like Christopher, John Ross and Sue Ellen snickered at J.R's Face when Bobby yelled at him. “Bobby you can't be serious?!” J.R bellowed.
“If you don't like it then you know where the door is!” Bobby responded. J.R grunted in response before glaring at Pamela and Christopher before he returned to his room in Southfork.

“Thank you Bobby” Pamela said, hugging the father of Christopher. Bobby responded with a your welcome and left the pair to mingle. Christopher headed over to his Uncle Gary to chat whilst Pamela headed to the drinks table.

As Pamela poured herself a glass of white wine John Ross stood behind her. “Pamela Rebecca Barnes. It's been a while” John Ross smirked. Pamela grinned in return and took a sip of her wine. “John Ross Ewing, time has not been good to you” Pamela replied sarcastically, in reality everyone knew she was joking John Ross was one of the most handsomest men in the world, one of them. “Ouch. That stung, you've certainly got the Ewing humour” John Ross responded staring at Pamela's behind.
“Say that to my father and he'll explode” Pamela said. Suddenly she felt her body gaining closer to John Ross's. “Meet me at the stables in ten minutes”. John Ross ordered.
__________________________________________________ ________________________

Pamela Rebecca had no idea why John Ross wanted to meet her but she had no intention of caring, she just did as instructed. As Pamela sauntered over to the Southfork stables she noticed a bottle of Champagne lying on a bed of hay. “Cute” Pamela muttered as she leant over by the Champagne. Suddenly the body of John Ross appeared and Pamela stood once more. “What do you want?” Pamela asked. John Ross lunged towards Pamela and embraced her in a kiss, the most passionate kiss he had ever given. Pamela released for a few seconds. “I am so gonna regret this” Pamela said, John Ross grinned seductively and pulled her in for another kiss before throwing her on the bed of hay and expressing the passion he felt for her physically and emotionally.
__________________________________________________ ________________________

“Dad, have you seen Pamela?” Christopher asked, confronting his father.
“No why?”.
“Well Amanda's supposed to be due any minute and I can't find...her” Christopher said. Something so amazing had stopped him from speaking, opposite Christopher was Amanda, Amanda Carter. Amanda was the most beautiful thing Christopher had ever seen, she was stunning, immensely attractive and just plain beautiful. Amanda was quite tall, very tanned and had green eyes. Amanda was wearing a turquoise dress and matching heels. Amanda's hair was clipped in a high ponytail, the shade was a mix of brown and blonde. “Miss Me?” Amanda asked seductively as she leaped into Christopher's arms. Bobby, Sue Ellen and the other Ewing's huddled over to meet Amanda. “So Amanda. Your the one my son's been going on about?” Bobby asked hugging his son's girlfriend.
“Mr. Ewing it's a pleasure to meet you!” Amanda responded, smiling at her boyfriend's father. “It's Bobby and nice to meet you to Amanda, me and you are gonna get along greatly, if you love horses that is” Bobby laughed. All the Ewing's faced Christopher as he announced something particularly important. “Could I have your attention please” Christopher said as he stood on a table to project his voice. “I have an announcement to make”. Before Christopher presented his announcement Pamela and John Ross entered the garden, smirking seductively at each other. “Amanda, will you live with me, here at Southfork?” Christopher asked. He hoped that she accepted, he wanted her to accept, heneeded her to accept. “Christopher Ewing...I'd be honoured!”. Everyone cheered including John Ross. “There's one more announcement I need to make” Christopher said. “Will you marry me?”. Everyone was astonished by Christopher's question, he asked her to move in with him which she accepted. But Marriage, would Amanda be OK with it?

“Yes! Amanda Ewing here I come!”

Sue Ellen and Pamela Rebecca were usually out and about in Dallas on most of the weekends together Shopping and having lunch . It had been exhilarating for them getting to know each other personally they both have admired one another in Business Sue Ellen for just a few Months and Pamela for some years now . John Ross and Pamela ‘s marriage had brought them together as an Powerful New Found Family it was kismet . The Mother and Daughter In- Law have grown Closer in the months that followed the Wedding they were on one accord with each other about most things .Sue Ellen could see the Love, Happiness and Openness Her son and Pamela Shared with each other and she was relieved and contented about that fact. Pamela was delighted to have Sue Ellen in her life now she was an added bonus that came with Marrying the love of her life. Pamela has always Looked up to Sue Ellen in the Business world she was a elegant strong woman who knew where, when ,What and Who to go after to accomplish her goals. That was a extraordinary role model to have right out of Business school. Pamela had kept Sue Ellen as her business role model and has continue to learn from her each and everyday . Later At Neiman Marcus Sue Ellen and Pamela were lively shopping and talking to each other about the happens and goings on in Dallas while walking around they came a upon Rose McKay and her Daughter in-law Margaretta . From what Pamela could detect from the meeting was that Rose and Sue Ellen didn’t get a long at all the greetings to each other was down right Icy as Hell . Rose then said to Sue Ellen cheerfully You’re so lucky you don’t have to worry about the governorship anymore Sue Ellen You can just lay back and focus on your AA Meetings. We heard about J.R. while the Family was on our Island we did not let that bit of news stop us from having a Best time we had in years . The rumors about you falling off the wagon that is so disheartening to hear we are Praying for you Sue Ellen . Sue Ellen could not believe this tasteless filthy heifer just came up to her . Rose was never the Smartest not by a long shot but at least Sue Ellen would think she be knowledgeable enough to her have some kind of self preservation skills.
That is very delusional of you Rose says Sue Ellen fiercely looks like to me you are the one in need of a good AA Meeting. I would Advise you to keep J.R.’s name out of your Mouth. How your husband and his assistant ?? Still staying out mysteriously late at night “working ” . How is your businesses Rose ?? I heard you are having some deep financing trouble with one , Having a lot of expensive production problems with another plus the tax lien you have on the newer company on top of all that must be bleak .The women glare white hot daggers at each other Sue Ellen hotly says who is this to the woman standing by Rose .Hi I am Margaretta Rose’s Daughter in-law . Rose looked to Sue Ellen asking severely who is that Pamela faces Rose and says I am Pamela Sue Ellen’s Daughter in-law. Oh Yeah ! said Margaretta wide-eyed you are the one who was married to that sweet Chris who then thoughtlessly dumped you for that adorable Elena right ? So you then went for the obnoxious second Best in John Ross how unfortunate for you .That is a repulsive step down if you ask me explained Margaretta who Brightly Smiled and place her hand to her chest. Pamela could feel her Blood heat up Rapidly just who did this irrelevant bitch think she was talking to was she trying to act brand new today . Pamela Irritably said Were you once Margaretta Sandstone am I right on that… from school ?? She nods Gleefully to Pamela . I use to defeat you all the time back in High school and College an from what I behold in front of me my streak continuous it would seem. Well I see you have Married into the McKay Family you poor soul what’s the Matter doll could not Find a better one . You seem very Hung up on My Husband did John Ross turn you Down in the past Margaretta ? You are just not his type he would find you wholly unacceptable. The 4 women look Callously at each other seeing who would dare to look away 1st Rose and Margaretta are the losers in that game they back down then left the store.
#
At Lunch Sue Ellen and Pamela talked about the run in they had with Rose and Margaretta. Sue Ellen says Promptly to Pamela that Rose has always been a shady , bitter and jealous Bitch who thought she was better then Her. I don’t see how on earth she would or could think that about herself says Pamela sharply from what I have seen of her Rose thinks way to highly about herself which is very unwarranted but I could see why she would hate you . I mean really Sue Ellen Look at you then look at her If I was Rose I would have some major animosity for you to . Sue Ellen Warmly takes a drink of her coffee with a smile what about that Margaretta twit who the **** is she . Pamela laughs then tells Sue Ellen that her and Margaretta have been trying to one up each other from day one in middle school and it just got more substantially competitive between them from there. Sue Ellen says lovingly to Pamela like that self-important nobody could ever beat you she is out of her league Pamela tenderly says thank you to Sue Ellen Margaretta has Never gotten anything over on me and if she has it was not for long. Pamela took a bite of food and had some of her drink She then ask Sue Ellen why did you think Rose Started this back up again. Rose is not dumb most of the times She knew damn well who you were to me proclaimed Sue Ellen. Yeah I am pretty sure Margaretta would have told her that before now and if not the gossip mills would have taking care of that as well Pamela declared . Ewing Energies & Barnes Global just merged they think just because J.R. is not around and Cliff is not here anymore that there is Blood in the water so to speak. That we are somehow weaker so they are going to start testing us every which way they can Sue Ellen Solemnly tells Pamela looking for a Soft spot in the Family and company .Pamela pays the bill then Steadily says That is a Grave Mistake on their part if they think it will be that easy to take us down we may look damaged to the outside world but that is fictitious . Sue Ellen merrily takes her by the arm as they walk out the restaurant along the sidewalk If Rose and Margaretta or anybody else wants a fight we will give them one says Sue Ellen.

hi all this is my first fanfic and I'd love to read your comments on it, Georgia.

                  Revenge: Chapter 1:An empty home
For the first time in years Southfork was completely silent. Its only occupant was sitting at his desk, re-reading the letter he had received last week, for what must have been the thousandth time. Every time he read it a look of horror passed over his eyes - what was he to do? All of his family was at risk, and all because of him. He didn’t have to do what his big brother wanted him to, but he did. It was always his big brother that messed the family up and somehow he had done it again. What made it worse was his brother had been gone and buried for the past seven years.
Bobby Ewing, dropped the letter down on to his desks in frustration, shouting “Bloody hell JR! You've been gone for seven years and you’re still causing this family pain. Why the hell did I do what you wanted me to? It was stupid. Well JR our family won't pay for this any longer." And with that Bobby took one last glance at the photos that decorated its walls and smiling sadly he walked out of Southfork, leaving it completely empty. But before he was leaving Southfork for good he wanted to go for one last ride. One last goodbye to the ranch he loved so much.
So he saddled up his horse, a fine bay mare, and rode out.

10 HOURS LATER
A family of four walked back into their home. Dropping of their suitcases at the door. The mother went to the kitchen to cook up a light snack. The father went to put all the suitcases back. And the two children ran off chasing each other. The girl had long brown hair tied up in a ponytail, and wore a tee-shirt and a pair of jeans, and looked like the splitting image of her mother but had her father’s eyes. The boy looked like his father from tip to tail, and was wearing a checked shirt a pair of jeans and his father’s hat that covered his face.
The silence that met them didn’t last for long.
“Argh, go away,” a young boy’s voice echoed through Southfork. “Mummy tell her,” Ross said running into the kitchen, closely followed by his older sister Ellie.
"Ellie, leave your brother alone or you’re going to have to go to your room," Pamela Ewing's voice called across the kitchen.
"But he pulled my hair mummy," the six year old Ellie whined back at her mother, pulling on her own long brown ponytail as if she was re-enacting what had happened. Whilst Ross just stood and glared at her.
At that point John Ross entered the kitchen to see what all the fuss was about. "Ross-” he said plucking his hat of the young boys head putting it on the table, “-please don't pull on your sister's hair-" at her father’s comment Ellie smiled but it was soon gone with her father’s next comment, "-and Ellie leave your brother alone he didn't mean it, he is only four."
"Okay daddy." Ellie replied, before running of with her brother.
John Ross walked over to his wife, who was stood near the cooker, grabbing her around the waist, "so what delight will you be cooking tonight, Mrs. Ewing?" he asked Pamela, resting his head on her shoulder.
"Well Mr. Ewing," Pamela replied, turning to see John Ross, "it would help if that uncle of yours had actually brought some food. Bobby did know we was coming back today didn't he?"
Confusion written across his face John Ross replied, "Yeah he knew we was coming back today. There should be ... wait a minute. Have you seen Bobby at all since we've come home?"
"No, I haven't. But he could be out rounding up cattle. He does let the ranch hands have Sunday off; well he has since Chris left."
"That is true, but he's always here to welcome us back home when we return from a holiday. He adores Ellie and Ross, like their his own grandchildren." John Ross replied looking over at his children. "Pamela, I'm gonna have a look for him. I mean he can't be that far out on the ranch."
"We've just got home John Ross, can't you leave it for half an hour - we are home a bit ear-"
"No, I can't. Everyone has left him, and Gary died last month - I need to find him," with that John Ross turned his back to his wife, and grabbed his hat and headed for the door.
But he was stopped by Pamela, horror written across his face, "He wouldn't. Would he?" she breathed out, slightly panicked.
"I don't know, I just don't know. But I need to find him." John Ross bent down and kissed his wife and with that he left, leaving Pamela standing alone at the door.
A small tug on her dress brought Pamela out of her train of thought, "Mummy - where's daddy going" John 'Ross' IV asked, looking up at her. His sister, Ellie was beside him.
Pamela bent down and looked at both of her children. "Daddy has just gone to go and help Uncle Bobby outside, he needs some help with one of the cows calving," she told her children, she couldn't stand lying to them - but she couldn't them that they had no idea where, the uncle they adored, was.
Ellie looked up at her mother, all excited, "When can we see the new calf mummy, they are sooo cute?"
"Later darling, we don't know if it’s going to make it yet. But come on you two we'd better be getting you ready for bed." Pamela said as she stood up, placing a hand on the back of her children’s heads.
"Nooo," both Ellie and Ross screamed running away from their mother. As Pamela just stood and laughed.

Meanwhile, John Ross was walking to the stables to saddle up his horse. He was now getting worried, Uncle Bobby had never missed their return, and it was starting to get dark now so he doubted that he was out with the cattle.
Once he had saddled up his horse, he noticed that Bobby's horse wasn't there. It made John Ross feel a more relieved that Bobby was out riding. He realized that Bobby more than likely wanted some time to himself, since his father's death Bobby often went riding by himself. He said it gave him time to think but also allowed him some time with his lost brother. Well brothers. Since Gary's death, Bobby’s rides became more regular. So John Ross unsaddled his horse. Kicking himself in the head for being so stupid and muttering to himself, "woo being a dad has made me paranoid." as he walked out the stables back to his home.
A little time after John Ross returned in, a lone bay mare returned to the stables for the night. Alone. No ride on its back. All that marked it was a smear of blood along the saddle.

A/N: Hi there. I posted this story on ff.net and a reviewer was kind enough to invite me to post here as well (Thank you Lovely Linda!). Though I've posted on this site a couple of times, I didn't realise there was a fanfiction area. Look at all those stories to read! Anyway, I hope I did this right, and I hope you enjoy. :)

Through darkness, you help me find the way

"Are you sure you're all right, Sue Ellen? I really wish you'd stay here tonight." Ann's kind, open face is solemn as she reaches out to lightly rest a hand on her forearm. Her eyes are tired and red and Sue Ellen knows the pain she sees in them is the mirror image of her own. There had been no love lost between Ann and J.R., but when her family hurts, she hurts too. "I don't know where the boys got off to, but I'm sure Bobby wants you here too. You shouldn't be alone."

Shaking her head, she pats her friend's hand before taking a step backward towards the door. Ann's arm falls away. "No. I need to go, Ann. If I stay here, I'm likely to end up passed out in his bed again, and let's face it: I've done that often enough for several lifetimes." She tries to laugh, but the sad and broken sound that emerges reassures no one, least of all herself. "The sooner I get back to my normal routine, the better."

Ann looks doubtful, but doesn't argue further. She's tired. They're all just so tired. The search for J.R. followed by the devastating news of his murder has taken its toll on all of them. She feels every one of her years today. Even Bobby, the eternal younger brother, looks old to her now.

"I'll call you in the morning," she promises, hoping to reassure. "If you see John Ross…" She hasn't seen her son since he'd arrived back at the ranch from the gravesite with Christopher. Her plan had been to ask him to stay with her tonight, but the passing hours have changed her mind. As much as she loves her son, she needs some solitude, some time to remember. And then, some time to forget.

She expects it won't be pretty.

Ann is looking at her questioningly, a reminder that she hasn't finished her thought. "Nothing. Never mind. Good night, Ann."

As she turns and reaches for the doorknob, her shoulder bag shifts forward and the glass of the bottle inside collides with the framed wedding photograph she'd stolen from J.R.'s room. Cringing, but not pausing, she turns the knob, pulls the door open and walks through it.

"Sue Ellen." Ann's voice is hesitant, weighing her words. She stops just outside the door without turning around as the other woman continues. "God knows, J.R. and I didn't have much to say to each other, but even I couldn't miss how proud he was of you. I'm sure the last thing he would want now is for his death to be the reason you lose everything you've accomplished."

She nods and, not trusting her voice, continues on her way.

The bourbon coursing through her blood dulls her fine motor skills and makes inserting her key into the lock more of an ordeal than it should be. Or maybe it's the tears blurring her vision that are causing the problem. They come upon her at random times; she often doesn't notice them until they fall from her cheeks and splash on the surface in front of her. Blinking and steadying her shaking hand, she tries again and the key finally slides home. Twisting the knob, she turns to wave away the limo driver. Thank you, Ann, she thinks as he drives away.

Stumbling a bit in the dark, she bypasses the light switch, kicks her heels off in the entryway, and pads barefoot to the living room, taking her heavy shoulder bag with her. Pausing to flick on the stereo, she lets her bag slide down her arm and off her hand, where it lands on the floor with a clunk and the alarming sound of glass scraping against glass.

Mournful country music emanates from her sound system and she sways in place for a moment, listening as Dolly Parton sings about love and bittersweet memories. She rarely listens to the music of her youth anymore, but the problems of other women and the men they loved and lost have been something of a comfort during this last, difficult week. Dolly, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, they understand her.

She turns around, intending to go to her bedroom and change her clothes, but the sight she finds in front of her stops her in her tracks.

In the dim light of the living room, she can just make out an imposing figure in a business suit stretched out full length on her beige sofa. His face is covered with a Stetson and his boots are hanging off the end of the too-short piece of furniture.

John Ross, her confused mind suggests, despite the fact that this man is both taller and broader than her son. And even in the semi-darkness, she can tell that the charcoal gray suit this man is wearing is not John Ross's suit.

It's impossible.

She knows that suit, that hat, those boots. But it can't be.

"J.R.?" she whispers.

Her voice is barely audible, but somehow it awakens the man on the couch anyway. He stirs, and one hand rises to slide the hat up and away from his face, revealing a familiar, sleepy grin.

"Hello darlin'," he says.

She screams.

He brings her a glass of water from the kitchen and as she gulps it back with shaking hands, she wishes fervently that the cold, clear liquid was vodka instead of plain tap water.

Taking the glass from her when she's finished, he sets it on the coffee table.

"Feelin' better, darlin'?" he asks with a grin. He's turned on a couple of lamps and his blue eyes shine in the golden light of the room. He looks just the same as he did the last time she saw him, none the worse for wear for having been shot at close range. Part of her, the part that isn't staring at him in silent shock and disbelief, supposes this shouldn't be too much of a surprise.

"You going to say anything, honey, or are you just going to stare at me all night?" he asks, not unkindly.

Digging her nails into her palms, she closes her eyes tightly, counts to five, and reopens them.

He's still there, though he's starting look impatient. It's that look, so horribly, beautifully, familiar to her, that finally prompts her to speak.
"J.R., you're…you're dead. I…I saw you," she says at last.

The impatient look vanishes, replaced by one of supreme sadness. "I know. I'm sorry about that, darlin'. I don't know what those boys were thinking, letting you into that room."

"Like they could have stopped me," she mutters. In fact, Bobby had tried, but she had shaken his gentle hand from her shoulder, and pushed past him into that desolate little bloodstained room. She needed to see for herself, needed to see her love one last time. Or, at least, she thought it would be the last time.

"How?" she asks now. "What…? How? How are you here? You're alive?"

"No." He shakes his head sadly.

No. Well now, that should surprise her - she's not one to believe in ghosts - but somehow it doesn't. If anyone could manage to haunt her, it's this man.

"Then how?" she asks. "Why?"

"I don't know," he says, and the confused frustration in his voice breaks her heart. Even in death, J.R. should be the one holding all the cards. "It's complicated. Just…here is where I need to be."

She stares at him, stretches out a hand and touches his face. She half-expects him to be cold, or for her hand to pass right through him, but he's just as warm and real and solid as he's even been. Her fingers brush against his cheek, down his shoulder, and to his chest above his heart.
She can feel it beating under his shirt.

For half an instant, hope blossoms within her. She lifts her eyes to his, but he just shakes his head again.

It's an illusion, just like the breath she could feel on her hand when she touched his face. It's not real. He's not really here; he can't be.
He'll never be here again.

"You bastard!" she cries suddenly, feelings of loss and anger overwhelming her. "You left me! How the hell could you leave me? How could you leave our son?"

With no conscious thought, her hand flies to his cheek. Anticipating what even she hadn't, he catches her wrist, stopping the slap before it begins.

She sags against him, gasping and gagging on sudden tears, and he pulls her tight to his chest. "You're not supposed to leave," she sobs, broken, against his shoulder.

She realised long ago how cruel the world could be, and this very man had been the author of so many of those hard learned lessons. How ironic that the greatest cruelty of her life was the loss of him, just when they were finally moving beyond the misery of the past.

He holds her, strokes her hair, and the soothing noises he makes are like nothing she's ever heard from him before. She breathes slowly and deeply and when the tears begin to subside, she reluctantly tries to pull away. His arms tighten around her, holding her in place.

"Stay," he says. She looks up to find unshed tears glistening in his own eyes. Can dead men cry? She nods once and curls back into him.

It's been a lifetime, in more ways than one, since the last time they were this close, but it feels just the same as she remembers: like coming home. She doesn't understand how this is happening, how he can be here, but she's grateful for the gift all the same.

"It's crazy, you know," she says after a while. "We've been divorced longer than we were ever married, but my identity is still so wrapped up in you, in hating you, in loving you, that I don't know who I am without you somewhere out there in the world."

He gently pushes her up until they are sitting facing each other and he's as serious as she's ever seen him.

"I'll tell you who you are, darlin'. You're a Ewing. You're Sue Ellen Ewing, and you're the strongest woman I've ever known, no thanks to me." He chuckles. "Well, maybe the wrong kind of thanks. And whether I'm by your side or not, that will never change. Don't you ever forget that." He pauses, then picks up her hand, squeezing it between his own. "There's trouble coming, Sue Ellen; the family's going to need you to keep on being strong."

She tries hard to not look at her purse on the floor in front of the stereo and thinks about the bottle of bourbon hidden away in the bottom of it. He couldn't possibly know about that though, could he? "Trouble? I don't understand," she says.

He looks to the bag himself, and then back to her. "Darlin', don't throw your life away, everything you've accomplished, over the likes of me. I'm not worth it. But more than that, our boy is going to need you clearheaded. Bobby will need you. All of you are in for a hell of a fight, and without me around, you're the best weapon this family's got."

Choosing not to acknowledge the first part of his speech, she instead focuses on the last. "J.R., I don't understand. What fight? What are you talking about?"

"I can't say any more than that, darlin'. There are some rules even I can't break." He sounds so incredulous at that, that she wants to laugh, despite the seriousness of their conversation.

Instead she kisses him.

It's hello and goodbye and I love you all rolled into one, and she puts everything she has into it, because she will be damned if she's missing another last opportunity to show him how she feels.

The room is uncomfortably warm as she awakens, and she squirms and kicks, trying to throw off some covers. It isn't long before she realises there are no covers to move. She's not in her bed.

Her eyes, sticky with ruined makeup and dried tears, are slow to open, but when they do, she blinks and squints at the sun streaming in her large front window from her spot on the couch. Shading her eyes, she tries to sit up, but her lurching stomach and the sudden pain in her head stop her. Her vision swims and she lies back against the cushions.

She seems to be alone in the room.

"J.R.?" she calls, her voice cracking and steeped in confusion. Pushing a hand through her tangled hair, she tries again to sit up. Where is he? Please, no, he can't have gone already. There's still so much to say. She's not ready for this to be over.

Her bleary, half-closed eyes sweep haphazardly around the room until suddenly, there he is. Relief floods her. He's still here. He looks so young, so handsome in his tuxedo, so happy.

They both look so happy.

She blinks, rubs her eyes with her fist, and abruptly her vision clears. Their wedding photo, stolen from J.R.'s bedroom at Southfork, sits tauntingly on the coffee table, an empty bottle of bourbon beside it. Young, happy Mr. and Mrs. Ewing, frozen in time, as two-dimensional as her life now without him. Just another illusion.

And she's alone. With a horrible, sinking, desolate feeling, it occurs to her that perhaps she always was.

A dream? Had it really all been a bizarre, alcohol-induced dream? It seemed so real. She lies back against the cushions and the tears find her again.

She doesn't know how long she stays that way, slipping between restless sleep and unwelcome wakefulness ruled by cruel, overwhelming grief. Her dream had been so vivid; she can still hear the words he said to her, feel his arms around her. She could swear she still smells his cologne on the couch cushions and in her hair. While in reality, nothing has changed since yesterday, she feels like she's lost him all over again.

By the time the sun moves to the other side of the house, she's run out of tears and there doesn't seem to be anything left to do but pull herself together. She has no plans for the remainder of the day, but if she doesn't get up now, she has the uneasy feeling that maybe she never will. If nothing else, she can't do that to John Ross. She's the only parent he has left.

Gingerly, she rises from the couch, gripping the end table as the dizzy spell she knew was coming sweeps past her, then picks up her wedding photo and continues on to her bedroom to shower and dress.

It's lying on her bed when she walks in the room: a charcoal gray Stetson set atop what would have been his pillow, had he ever joined her in this bed. She stops abruptly in the doorway, regarding it silently with her head tilted to one side, until a tentative smile spreads across her face. Walking into the room, she sets the wedding photo down on the nightstand and picks up the hat. Flicking some non-existent dust from its brim, she holds it out in front of her, turning it this way and that.

"You weren't here before," she addresses it, bemused. "Now, where could you possibly have come from?" She holds it up to her nose and inhales deeply.

And then she grins, because she knows.

She knows.

It really happened. Physically happened, or just happened in her mind, she doesn't know, and it doesn't even matter, because it happened. He was here; he came to say goodbye. He came to give her a message, and he came to try and save her from herself, to warn her, as best he could, of what is to come.

He came because he loves her.

Setting the hat on her head, she again picks up the picture frame. "I love you too, my darlin'," she tells the man in the wedding photo. "I get the message. And I intend to do you proud."

And she will.

There will be no more drinking. AA and the like are fine for some, but she's always stopped on her own, when she's found something more important to her than the bottle. What is more important than protecting her family? There's much to be done at Ewing Energies and she and John Ross have wasted too much time already with fighting Bobby and Christopher. They're family; they need to find a way to work together. They need to unite to prepare for what's coming. She doesn't know yet what it is, but she will. J.R. will have left some kind of clue and she intends to find it.

And when their enemies make themselves known, she'll make them wish it was only J.R. they had to deal with.

She's loved; she's lost. She'll never be the same without him, but she'll be okay.

After all, there's going to be a battle to fight and she's a Ewing.

It's what she does best.

A/N: This was already 90% complete when I found out who killed J.R., so I pretty much ignored the information. Make of that what you will. Thanks for reading. :)

Some background first,Emma has fled Southfork with one of the yard hands.Ann has taken to her bed again ,her family doctor is on speedial.Bobby has realised some jewellery is missing from his wife's safe but feels Ann is not able to process her daughter's fall from gave anymore. He knows this is going to be a long night.
The place cleared out fairly fast after Pamela stalked out with a jug of cocktail .Christopher had attempted to follow her like a lovesick fool but a quick snarl from her, he has retreated to his room.JR has attempted to speak to Pamela, she has locked herself in their room, but he can hear her make a few phone calls..there is no screaming no hysteria. This has unsettled him.He returns downstairs to SE who is nursing a brandy after throwing the bridal magazines in the garbage.

"Don't say a word Mama" he says fixing his hair.SE signs theatrically."Normally I'm the one looking out of this situation,it's unusual this time I'm looking in..."she finishes the drink and contemplates another."It's a pattern that just keeps on relating itself in our family..you've seen me accept it so you assumed your newly wed wife would too. This is a different era John Ross..""I don't need a lecture momma"JR is starting to sweat under his business suit.He expected a bottle to be thrown, some crude name calling but this cold detachment of Pamela's he is unfamiliar with.
"you know if JR were here he would be laughing at this predicament ,oh 'that's my son' he'd say proudly.Me John Ross I'm more inclined to ring the local veterinarian to get you neutered ..." SE is torn between the son she adores and the woman who she always felt was out of his league from the very start."But Emma!!? God John Ross ,at least your daddy went with some prostitutes who knew to shut up...although of course then again maybe going for my sister negates that point.."she adds laughing soullessy."Emma with her issues and drug problem...god John Ross maybe a trip to the STI clinic might me required too!!"
JR looks over sad and confused."momma how do I make this right?" SE stands up on unsteady feet."I have aided and abetted your behaviour for too long.Stand on your own two feet now".She leaves the room.

Two hours later Pamela opens the door to JR.He enters expecting to see things thrown, drinks spilt and tears. The cocktail jug sits untouched on the sideboard.Pamela stands in immaculate hair and make up.She has changed her clothes, her two suitcases stand by the door.JR is now sweating profusely,he pulls out all the stops.First his puppy dog eyes. They have never failed him.He catches a glimpse of himself in the mirror. Its game on.
Pamela smiles as she sees through the charade."Ive called a cab JR so lets make this nice and quick" They stand centimetres apart.Their eyes meet and flash with the heat of rage and passion.JR tilts he head towards her,he moves his mouth close to her lips.Suddenly Pamela snaps her head away, inwardly cursing her weakness"You're good JR you had me fooled, well maybe 80% fooled".JR attempts some sort of explanation while Pamela paces with fury."I was vulnerable John Ross..I let my guard down after my.".Pamela can't say the words she can feel her eyes water.JR sees an opening and moves to comfort her.She shakes him off coldly."Do you remember that great night we had?the night before we got married?" She asks him changing her voice."you were worn out I recall the next day,so I went off to pick a wedding dress.."JR looks confused."Oh I got the dress obviously but I also made myself knows to the minister who was due to marry us.And I made it worth his while to alter the forms..there were no official documents signed that day honey..there's no photos ..even the CCTV has been wiped clean.I considered it one of those deals' try before you buy',and to be honest I won't be buying."
JR can't speak .His brain can't process the repercussion for the Ewings. All he feels is the humiliation."I couldn't risk the embarrassment of another Ewing divorce and well I knew your ..eh..Ego and genitals would get you into trouble at some point."As Pamela picked up her Handbag she stopped"I wanted it all with you John Ross..children,family ..god I even got on with my mother in law.I would have had the big wedding here to make it all legal but now.."She shakes her head sadly.
She wheels her bags out of Southfork leaving John Ross alone.

DISCLAIMER: The two main characters belong to Dallas. P&P characters are Jane Austen's. Uhm...other book is by Seth Grahame-Smith.

Pride and Prejudice and John Ross!

"What'chu readin', darlin?" John Ross asked his wife as he entered the spacious Southfork lounge. As he saw her sitting in an armchair, reading in the mid-morning sun.
"Pride and Prejudice," Pamela replied, leaning up to kiss her husband as he leaned down to meet her.
John Ross broke from the kiss, his face displaying a confused frown.
"Oh come on you must have heard of it, it's a classic…one of my all-time favorites. I must have read it like a dozen times."
"What's it about?" he asked, trying his best to sound enthusiastic, he was never really one for reading books. He sat down on the arm of the seat slightly behind her and wrapping himself around her.
She snuggled back into his chest, enjoying the feeling of being close to him; it made her feel safe, secure, happy, and above all else, really and truly loved.
"It's about two people who appear to hate each other, but end up falling madly in love."
"Like that would ever happen," John Ross joked, leaning in and kissing the nape of her neck. She trembled with desire as he kissed her.
“Yer I know right,” Pamela replied teasingly, stifling a moan, "That sort of thing would never happen. You know, it's a wonderful book, you might enjoy it."
"Actually darlin, I've got a better idea," he said in a low, husky voice.
John Ross hands began to wander and his kisses increased in both number and intensity. Pamela turned around and captured his lips, dropping the book and forgetting about Pride and Prejudice in favor of other more desirable activities.

One year later

"What's this?" John Ross asked, plopping down on the couch next to his very pregnant wife. After planting a kiss on her lips, he put his arm around her and she instinctively snuggled up to him. Wanting to be as close to him as possible, Pamela draped the maroon afghan – a housewarming gift from Sue Ellen – that covered her lap across John Ross's legs as well, sharing the warmth.
“'Pride and Prejudice'," Pamela explained, keeping her eyes on the television in front of them and the movie that was playing on it, "I was out shopping and decided to buy it. You should watch it with me, since you won't read the book."
"Where's the popcorn?" John Ross asked. He noticed that the coffee table in front of them held a cup of tea and a box of tissues, but no bowl of what he considered absolutely essential for movie watching.
"It's not a really a 'popcorn movie', John Ross " Pamela sighed in slight exasperation, "Now hush."
"Ok, darlin" John Ross replied, rolling his eyes. This was stupid he thought all movies are popcorn movies.

They watched the screen in silence for a while before John Ross spoke up again.
"That chick looks familiar," John Ross said in a whisper, as if trying to not disrupt the movie.
"Keira Knightley," Pamela whispered back.
“oh year she played the hot posh girl in that pirate movie,” John Ross said, idly playing with his wife's reddish brown hair. Pamela turned suddenly displaying her signature death glare that he knew was most likely generated by her elevated hormones. “But obviously she isn’t anywhere near as hot as you darlin”, he said giving her his best puppy dog eyes.
"So, is she the pride, or the prejudice?" he asked trying to change the subject as quickly as he could. She giggled at the silliness of the question, "Actually, she and Mr. Darcy both suffer from pride and prejudice."
"Oh," he said, sounding disappointed, the concept of this movie was already going over his head.

She snuggled up and rested her head on his shoulder. They grew quiet again as they cuddled and watched the move and John Ross rubbed his hand in hypnotic circles over her bulging tummy. Pamela had almost fallen asleep when John Ross sat up and said loudly.
"This movie's not as good as the pirate one, darlin, why don't we head upstairs…" his hands roamed her body, doing his best to distract her from the movie.
"John Ross …" she moaned, about to give in to her husband's desires when she felt a sharp pain, "John Ross!!"
"What, Pammy?" he said, sucking on her neck until he was sure he'd left a mark.
"My water just broke!"

Two years later

Pamela came into the lounge and found their son John Ross IV, or Jack as they had taken to calling him, happily playing with some building blocks while John Ross lounged on the couch reading a book.
Pamela had to do a double-take because she had never seen John Ross read anything non-work related.
"What are you reading, John Ross?" Pamela asked, leaning over the back of the couch and looking down at her husband. He smiled up at her, and she felt her heart melt as it always did when he smiled at her like that.

"Would you believe Pride and Prejudice?" John Ross asked, giving her a look that made her unable to tell if he was joking or not.
"I've been trying to get you to read that book for years!" she exclaimed incredulously, "I seem to recall your last response on the subject was 'The movie sucked, so why should I bother reading the book?'."
"I know, Pammy," he said, nodding, "But when I was out with Chris helping him search for Elena’s birthday gift, I saw this and he said it was good so figured I'd give it a shot."
"Unbelievable," Pamela said, shaking her head, "years of me nagging you to read it, and all it takes is a shopping trip with Christopher."
"Well say what you want about Chris, but the man does have good taste," John Ross replied cheekily.
Pamela stuck out her tongue at him and he returned the gesture, making them both laugh. He then grabbed his wife's hand and kissed her palm. " I Love you, darlin."
"Love you too, darlin," she replied, leaning over as far as she could and planting a chaste kiss on his lips.
"Momma! Momma play!!" Jack called from the other side of the couch where he was waving wooden blocks in Pamela’s direction.
"Alright, sweetie, give Mommy a moment," Pamela sighed, settling on the floor with her back against the couch. This allowed John Ross to play with her hair while he read his book.

Pamela settled into playing blocks with Jack and John Ross continued to read, and the sound of Jack's squeals, Pamela 's gentle laughter, and the sound of wooden block knocking together filled the room.
"Darlin, ninjas are Japanese assassins right?" John Ross asked half-an-hour later.
Pamela was engrossed in building a large tower of blocks, much to Jack's glee, and was barely paying attention to what John Ross had asked.
"Uhm… yer," Pamela said absentmindedly.
The tower of blocks toppled over and Jack’s squeals of laughter and clapping hands indicated that he liked watching the blocks fall over even more than he liked watching them getting stacked up.

"Muskets, there like old-fashioned guns, right?" John Ross asked several minutes later.
"Yes," Pamela nodded as she once again began stacking the blocks; this time as Jack attempted to help. "Why are you asking me all these questions?" she asked, looking up at him with a quizzical expression, "I thought you were reading Pride and Prejudice."
"I am," he nodded, " You know the movie nowhere near as good as this."
"Well…of course not," Pamela said, "Movies from books never are, they leave things out and change things around."
"Yeah, I know what you mean," John Ross nodded, "The movie totally left out the part where Charlotte became a zombie, and the part where Elizabeth and Lady Catherine fought with katana swords in the Bennet family's dojo."
"Well…wait…what?!"
"I mean, I can understand them leaving out the part where Elizabeth killed Lady Catherine's ninjas and ripped the one bloke's heart out and took a bite while it was still beating…that was a bit disgusting."
"John Ross…what the hell are you talking about?!" Pamela exclaimed.

"Hell!" Jack squealed. "Hell! Hell!"
"Nice going Pamela " John Ross smirked. She had spent months going on at him about what he should and shouldn’t say in front or their son. For her to be the one to slip up in front of their child was completely shocking…and amusing, though John Ross knew better that to laugh about it.

For her part, Pamela looked completely appalled at what she'd said, especially as Jack seemed to want to say nothing else now as he sat on the floor, banging two wooden blocks together calling out "Hell" over and over in a sing-song voice.
"See what you did?" Pamela snapped, looking at her husband.
"What I did?" John Ross replied quizzically, "You're the one who said it!"
"You know," he sighed, "If we don't make a big deal of it, he'll get tired of saying it and forget all about it."
"How can I not make a big deal of it, John Ross? What if he says it in front of our moms?" she asked frantically.
"Well, I'm sure our mom’s will just, hide a smirk and go off to the kitchen. To bad my daddy’s not hear, he’d find it hilarious!"
"John Ross!"
"What? you're already blaming me, so just tell them it's my fault."
"It is your fault!" she assured him, "You and that stupid book! I thought you said you were reading Pride and Prejudice!"

"I am…see?" he said, showing her the book and for the first time letting her see the title…the full title.
"Pride and Prejudice and…what?!" she exclaimed as she read the title.
"And Zombies," he said with a smile, "It really isn't bad once you get used to the way they talk in that old-fashioned sort of way."
"Pride and Prejudice and Zombies…" Pamela repeated again, unable to believe her eyes, "How…why…what…?"
"Its awesome," John Ross said, grinning broadly, "I just got to the part where Darcy and Elizabeth are walking along and they find a bunch of zombies in the garden eating cauliflower they mistake for brains…and they finally get to fight together for the first time."
"…" Pamela was, completely speechless.
"Y'know, darlin, if they added zombies to all those stuffy old books you love so much, I don't think I'd mind reading them. Zombies can really spice up boring old literature."

The light from the TV that was blue from the finished movie. I saw a body I recognized. I man I recognized.

Jr.

The images of the night before came flooding back.

The video.

The kiss.

This couch.

I was beating myself up for letting him get to me this way again. I had to get up. If I laid here any longer I feared I would fall again.

As I lean up to free myself from his embrace I feel his calloused hand run up and down my arm. The hairs on my arm stood on end. It was as if every cell in me cried out to his in a plea of agony, and the tremors running down his spine were clear indication he felt the same.

I let myself fall again and I rested in his embrace.

Just laying here felt nice.

Only for a few moments.

Reminisce of the old days when we were always like this.

Before the women. The drinking. The hurt.

Slim digits rested upon his strong back and pushed him closer to me until we became as fitting as a puzzle. Legs entwined, arms embracing the other, hearts beating rapidly like drums playing to the song of love, and lungs aching to be filled with the air that irrevocably continued to escape us.

A perfect heaven here on this couch. A sanctuary only his muscular arms and loving gaze could create. An utopia where worries and the corruption of our human reality could not touch us. A realm where my senses were overpowered by your delightful scent and warmth.

I was too engulfed in the moment, too absorbed and resilient to tear myself away from it all, but his words weaved more euphoria in me.

“You thought I forgot didn't you?" He asked me as I shifted in my sleep.

My eyes fluttered open, and I lifted my head upward to meet your gaze.

"I did. How did you even get that video?" I asked.

"I have my ways. You know that." He replied. I didn't need to see his face to know he was smiling at me.

That smile did something to me. Something that was only matched by the effect his kiss had on me. The way I melted in his arms every time we touched.

"Oh I know." I looked up into his eyes.

His eyes were differing shades of blue, speaking a silent language only our souls could understand. In his eyes, I saw myself. His entire being called out for me, was jubilant by the knowledge that I belonged solely to him till the end of time. I am frightened by its staggering growth and how it has chained me down to feel this love perhaps equally or more profoundly.

"I love you." He murmured kissing the top of my head.

"I love you too." I replied curling into his body.

The years had passed since the days on that video we had just watched.

I had aged....pretty gracefully and so had he but all in all he was still the same man who took my breath all those years ago.

He locked me closer to his body, lowering those fine folds to affectionately demonstrate his happiness at my words. The motion was fervently returned, so we laid in our cocoon of passion and danced the waltz with our lips until sleep came and swept us into an endless sea of black, tightly knitted to each other in our quiet, temporary forever.

I'm new to this crazy world so bear with me! I'm a big fan of Pamela (I've gone off John Ross!)and I was imagining what would happen as John Ross gets tripped up by his meandering knob in season 3! I'm hoping she will walk and not return until he matures.

Anyway to set the scene it is breakfast time at Southfork. The kitchen is abuzz with activity.
Sue Ellen and Pamela are at the table by the window, browsing through home decor brochures. They sip coffee, their heads together fondling and then rejecting fabric swatches. John Ross struts in. His designer suit showcases his physique perfectly."My favourite two ladies together again, let me guess discussing my favourite subject.."He smirks broadly "me?!" The ladies roll their eyes in mock disgust, laugh and return to their task.

Emma enters, her blonde hair tousled from last nights casual encounter at a bar. Her low cut top gapes as she leans over John Ross to access the fruit bowl at the counter. She looks straight into his eyes defiantly as she peels a banana and eats it provocatively, enjoying his discomfort. Pamela oblivious to the exchange gathers up some fabric, places them in her briefcase and kisses her mother in law fondly on the cheek.
"Dont forget we have that conference call at 11 Honey" Pamela faces her husband and cups her hands around his face as she speaks kissing his lips gently." see you in the office". She leaves with a jaunt in her step.
There is silence in the room.Emma without speaking sasheys out of the kitchen.John Ross takes a moment to admire her posterior.

Sue Ellen takes in the scene and nurses her coffee."Sit down John Ross". Her voice holds a tone that he knows only too well.He sighs dramatically but obeys. "What is it this time mama? Magenta is fine by me,I'll leave all the decorating to you gals" Sue Ellen purses her lips and waits a moment before speaking "I miss your father but I don't miss those traits of his, that I now see in you". John Ross flushes and starts into a denial when he is silenced by a wave of her hand.
"I can see, even as a little boy ,you got everything too easily toys, girls, cars, more girls" she pauses for effect."I know JR and I weren't the best stable family unit for you growing up..."
"Understatement of the year" her son mutters as he picks imaginary fluff from his suit.Sue Ellen ignores his comment "John Ross you need to " she pauses looking for the right word "man up to this situation, you are no longer a teenager chasing every skirt in town.I like Pamela.Do you realise how good things are for us here? We are a family. If anyone told me years ago that I would be here at Southfork, laughing with Bobby, and picking furniture with my beautiful smart daughter in law I would never have believed it!"
John Ross has the decency to squirm in his seat as he attempts a counter attack."Mama you are will not beyond using your charms,to get you what you want...I mean come on Uncle Gary!".Sue Ellen hushes him. " This is not about me damn it.This is about you and the bad choices you are making.Has something happened with Emma? Answer me.I need to know".John Ross suitably chastised looks away and nods."She is dangerous...unpredictable. She has no allegiance to this family ..well to any family in fact.If she mentions anything to Pamela ,and believe me ahe will, she will walk.Pamela is nothing like me when I met your father,I was a meek beauty queen who took him back time after time and who looked for self respect in the bottom of a bottle. She will walk". Sue Ellen stands up,picks up her jacket and purse and adds"and I will encourage her to do so",as she leaves.

Sue Ellen fails to notice Christopher who has been flicking through papers in the hallway. He has been there to hear it all.His features light up as he sees an opportunity arise.

Just some ideas - I didn't like that JR's masterpiece didn't leave John Ross on top and the empire he had always promised him while it gave Chris billions in Barnes Global shares and I especially didn't like that they again ruined the couple I was invested in in the last 5 sections - total bull. But it is what it is - and 8 months is a long time to keep my interested when they left that crap as what is suppose to get me excited to return. So anyway here is my take. I'd appreciate any and all feedback. I enjoy these fan fictions. I'm not a writer but I like to write when I'm not happy with the trajectory of the show.

Pamela walks into the stables where Chris is absent mindedly brushing down a horse. “How are you doing?” She asks.

“About the same as you I’d guess since you’ve moved out of John Ross’s room.”

“Well it’s that kind of marriage I’m guessing.”

“I’m sorry Pamela. I really am. I had hoped he got it, but I don’t know if he ever will.”

“Well that’s his problem not mine. As long as I don’t have children with him, right?”

Chris looks up at her and searches her face and finds a deep sadness she’s trying to hide, “Right,” He says.

“I have a proposal for you to take care of all of our problems.”

“Shoot.”

“We control Barnes Global. We create Barnes Ewing, you own half and I own half. Honestly we get along well enough to split the company and do our own thing. I respect you, you must know that. Anyway Barnes Ewing buys Barnes Global and my father gets a big check and goes away. Let him fight it out in court for JR’s murder and what ever is left when he’s dead I’ll take. But in the meantime we build a company so rich and so powerful no one can hurt us ever again and you can develop your methane project on our own.”

“Cut your father out and Elena representing his shares?”

“And John Ross. He’ll have nothing to do with the new company and if he tries then I’ll go after part of Southfork and his oil rights. Do we have a deal?”

“What about Ewing Energies?” “Get your father to agree to close up the business. Split it up. John Ross gets the oil half, you get the methane half. You don’t need the oil money to do what you want to do. You can do it on your own.”

Chris stands up, smiles and says, “Sounds like a perfect plan to me.” He leans over and hugs her. She hugs him back.

Sue Ellen walks into the back of Southfork and right up to John Ross who’s entering the kitchen from the front. She yells at him, “Why the hell has Pamela moved out of your bedroom! What have you done John Ross!”

“What are you talking about?” He says.

“Ann told me that she’s moved out of your bedroom. She won’t talk to Ann about it but obviously something has changed.”

“Do you really want to know the details of my marriage?”

“Look at me! Look at me!” She orders and forces his chin up. “I know how you feel about that girl and I know you some how believe the stupid bull shit your father taught you. Your father died alone. Don’t you forget that! No one that gave a damn was in that room with him. You remember that John Ross you hear me?”

“Yes momma,” he say with a lot of sarcasm.

Chris and Pamela walk in from the back laughing about some time they spent in Australia. They quickly stop once they see John Ross. Pamela then looks at John Ross, “I’m going into town sweetheart. I have some legal matters to handle, setting up my new role in Barnes Global, me and Chris and partners. I’ll be home for dinner.”

John Ross asks, “What do you mean, you and Chris as partners?”

“Just that. He’ll develop his project and I’ll have mine. I’ve got a lot of things I’d like to see accomplished too.”

“And me?” John Ross asks.

“Do what ever you want to do with what ever business interests you have,” Pamela answers.

“My interest in Ewing Energies.”

“You don’t have an interest in Ewing Energies, it belongs to Barnes Global. I think it would be better for our marriage if you had your own business interests anyway, don’t you? Anyway, Chris and I will be home for dinner.” She turns and leaves with Chris. Chris gives John Ross a look of puzzlement and follows Pamela.

Sue Ellen looked at John Ross, “Looks like she’s not as up set as you might expect.”

Pamela says to Chris in the legal offices of Barnes Global, “Co-Presidents. You can be Chairman and CEO and I’ll be Treasurer and CFO.” She signs some documents.

“Sounds good to me,” Chris says and signs his papers. “Wonder what your father will say when he gets the check?”

“I’m wondering what he’ll say when he sees it’s from Barnes Ewing with our signatures.”

Chris says, “You love him don’t you?”

“I’ll get over it. I always do.”

“I’m sorry Pamela. You shouldn’t have to get over it. You know I think back to what happened between us and I realize you were trying to protect me. If not you’d have just stolen the technology and given it to your father long ago. I wanted to thank you.”

“Of course. I did love you Christopher. I never lied about that.”

“I know that now. So partner,” Chris says holding out his hand for her to shake. She does and the smile at each other.

Cliff sits with Elena on the beach in Mexico looking out at the setting sun. He says, “So she’s aligning herself with Christopher again. She is my daughter and I want you to understand that. She has been lead astray by the Ewings. She isn’t a bad girl. Like my sister Pam and my father. That family has a way of sucking you in. Hell, there have even been times I’ve fallen for their con. You know that, how they hurt people.”

“I’m not interested in Pamela; I’m interested in the Southfork land and its oil. That’s what I’m going to take from them, most importantly from John Ross.”

Cliff says, “Gary’s the first target. He’s the weakest. Then Bobby and then Sue Ellen. Save John Ross for last. He’ll make it so he brings himself down just like his daddy. I want you to be careful with Sue Ellen too. You have to remember she was conned by those Ewings and their moments where they seem to care about you.”

“That I’m well aware of.”

“You can have the oil rights to Southfork, but the ranch itself goes to Pamela. We’ll see what happens with Christopher. If we can get him to give up on the Ewings he can share Barnes Global and the ranch with my daughter. If not he needs to be handled. First, move on Gary.” Elena hands him a piece of paper that he looks over and smiles.

She says, “He owned a friend of mind a lot of money so he signed over his oil rights and my friend signed them over to me.”

Cliff laughs, “Wonderful. Next is Bobby. He’s a bit more challenging but with him we get control of the oil and half of Southfork. What are you ideas for him?”

“Limit his choices.”

That evening at Southfork John Ross comes into the kitchen to find Ann setting the table with Bobby and Emma already sitting down. Sue Ellen walks in just as John Ross does and joins them. She asks, “Where’s Chris and Pamela.”

Ann says, “I told them six sharp but they said they had a lot of work to finish up with the restructuring of Barnes Global and don’t expect them before night.”

Sue Ellen looks at John Ross with a raised eye, “Well she’s keeping herself busy.”

Emma says, “Well we can find stuff around her to do.” John Ross smiles at her with a devilish grin.

Bobby stands and says, “John Ross, in my study now.”

John Ross looks perplexed and follows him. Bobby motions for him to shut the doors. Bobby sits down behind his desk and says, “Why don’t you sit down son?”

“I’m alright,” John Ross replies.

“Sit anyway.” John Ross does. “I know you think you’re clever with Emma and so far Ann’s just wondering what’s going on but I know that look. I also know why Pamela’s got her own room and I know why she’s staying out late.”

“Emma and I have some business with Ryland Trucking that’s all.”

“I know your idea of business just like your father’s. But I also know that unlike your father you know love Pamela.”

“I never said that. And my father loved my mother.”

“I agree, but he didn’t know it until he hurt her so bad he could never fix it. And look what it did to you. You want that same life? Because I can tell you JR had a lot of regrets and your idea of business is chief among them.”

“I don’t need a lecture in my own house Uncle Bobby.”

“Hell if you don’t. When Chris came to me and told me he was marrying Elena we had it out right here in the room. And you and I are about to have it. I can’t stop you any more then I could him. But I’ll tell you what. You’re damn fool John Ross. I’d give p Southfork and all the oil underneath it for Ann and Christopher and you know what? For you too.”

“Bull shit? It was you that tried to keep it from me, until the whole Henderson idea that benefited Christopher’s technology. So don’t give me your loving Uncle crap.”

“I’m sorry about that John Ross. Really I am. If I hadn’t been dealing with my health at the time, I’d like to think we’d have talked it over.”

“Well thank you for that.”

“Please John Ross, think about what you’re doing. You’re hurting Pamela, that’s obvious. What ever you’ve got to face in and out of the board room, you two can face together.”

“How’s that Uncle Bobby? She’s with Christopher all night tonight and is keeping me out of Barnes Global.”

“Of course she is. Look what you’re doing.”

“I’m not someone’s cockled bitch. She wants Barnes Global, I’ve got Ewing Energies and a lot of work to do.”

“Go eat your dinner John Ross. You’d make your daddy proud.”

John Ross gets up and walks out of the room.

Late that night Bobby works in his study, or more correctly dozes off worrying over his family when Chris comes in and says, “I need to talk to you.”

“Sure, what’s up?”

Chris sits down and says, “I want out of Ewing Energies. You know all I want to do is focus on my methane project. It’s all I’ve every wanted out of the company and now I’ve got the resources to do it with Barnes Ewing.”

“Barnes Ewing?”

“Pamela and I just created it and sold Barnes Global to it, pushing out Uncle Cliff.”

“Really?”

“Well once we got notice that Elena would be representing his shares we had to move fast.”

“Elena? What’s going on Christopher?”

“We got a letter for Uncle Cliff’s lawyer that Elena Ramos was to represent his shares of Barnes Global”

“Why?”

“I don’t know. She lied to me about Drew. She helped him escape. He killed my babies and she helped him get away and for a second I thought it wasn’t her fault. She was just helping out her brother, but now she’s working for Cliff Barnes. You hurt he broke out, or was broken out of prison?”

“Yes I did.”

Board room of Ewing Energies Bobby meets with Sue Ellen and John Ross. “Christopher has offered to leave Ewing Energies. He’s offered to trade his shares for the methane paten and walk away. Pamela has declined any further share of Ewing Energies so that would leave the three of us with thirty percent each.”

“Methane is a major part of Ewing Energies,” Sue Ellen says.

John Ross says, “Fine let him go. He thinks he can develop it on his own then don’t let the door hit him in the ass.”

Sue Ellen speaks up, “No way.”

“Currently we aren’t talking it being worth much and he’s got a buyer for the platforms and all the investments we’ve currently made. He also has offered the name Ewing Oil, which is owned by Barnes Global. They’ll give us the name if we want it.”

“Deal,” John Ross says.

Elena has lunch with Bobby in a bright and airy downtown Dallas restaurant, “I agreed to meet with you so I could get to the bottom of your working with Cliff Barnes. What’s going on Elena?”

She slides a file over to Bobby and says, “What’s going on is I’m using Cliff to help me get into the oil business and since your family seems so determined to keep me out of it I figured he was the perfect ally.”

Bobby goes through the file, his face getting more and more grim.

Elena continues, “Over ten thousand people died in Christopher’s accident. His life will be ruined. You get he created the tsunami right?”

Bobby snaps, “I get it. What do you want?”

“You’re half of Southfork and your share of the oil rights.”

“No.”

“Then watch what happens to your son. He’ll loose his research, his shares of Barnes Global, or Barnes Ewing, what ever they’re calling it and he’ll be lucky if he stays out of prison, extradited to some brutal Southeast Asian country.” Bobby continues to look through the papers and read. She then comments, “That’s why. JR stole my father’s oil and let him die trying to get at a dry piece of nothing. You know me Bobby. You know I care about Southfork. You know I wouldn’t do anything to harm the land and through John Ross you’ll still own half, half the land and the use of the house. But I want what belongs to me. What this family owes me.”

“Let me think about it.”

“Forty-eight hours Bobby. I’ll give you forty-eight hours.” She stands and leaves him alone at the table.

Three days later court officers deliver an order to the Ewing Oil rigs on the Henderson property that states to stop pumping oil off of Southfork.

Bobby’s barbequing out back. Emma and Ann bring out bowels from the house and sit them on the table where Sue Ellen, Chris and Pamela are sitting. John Ross comes running up from the drive way, “What the hell is going on with the Southfork Oil Uncle Bobby!”

Bobby puts a tray of meat on the table and says, “I heard.”

“Elena has yours and Gary’s mineral rights and is shutting us down. What the hell have you done?”

They all turn to look at Bobby. He says, “I didn’t have any choice.”

Back on the beach in Mexico Cliff says to Elena, “So you’ve got control of the oil and Ewing Oil by the balls and half of Southfork. And I hear my nephew has his methane technology out of the line of fire. John Ross is going to be far harder to get at. He’ll provide his own noose but you’ll have to be willing to use it.”

“With John Ross anything is acceptable. What ever you have in mind I’m ready and willing. Pamela won’t have his back that I can assure you.”

“I warned her.”

Elena says, “And with the fall of John Ross Southfork will be mine and so will the oil. Ewing Oil will belly up and you can again pick up the pieces.”

“And talk my nephew into getting rid of that name off our building. Get my daughter her divorce and be rid of the Ewings once and for all. See I told you it wasn’t all that difficult.”

John Ross walks into Pamela’s room upstairs at Southfork and says, “What the hell is going on with you?”

“What are you talking about?” She snaps back.

“I’m dealing with Elena to keep Chris out of prison like could give a shit. His methane research gets protected and it’ll cost me Ewing Oil and Southfork but the two of you certainly benefit don’t you? Are you some how in this with your father?”

“What the hell John Ross. Why would you think that?”

“Look it I know this isn’t the marriage you expected.”

She cuts him off, “Go to hell John Ross. I told you how I felt, but your actions were far louder then your words.”

“That was business I told you when that little whore started running her mouth, it was business. It has nothing to do with how I feel about you.”

“It has everything to do with how I feel about you. If Elena takes everything away from you so be it. I hope she gets it all. And before you think about taking any of my shares of Barnes Ewing I’ve already talked to Chris about it and you’ll just be getting a check. We’ll buy you out of any interest you get in a divorce.”

“I didn’t say I wanted a divorce.”

“Didn’t you John Ross. You didn’t come into my room when I was crying over what you did.”

“What?”

“What she said to me! Do you even know what she said to me?”

“I told you.”

“You hurt me. Not like Chris, I got that. Not even like my father because he’s just messed up in the head. I though you had my back. That you wouldn’t let anyone hurt me.”

“Of course I wouldn’t.”

“No but you’ll hurt me. I said to Carmen not to talk to you like that, you remember that? You remember I stood up for you? I wasn’t going to let her hurt you. Was I all a game to you? What is it, you still in love with Elena is that it?”

“You’re the one spending all night with Christopher.”

“Well at least now he gives a damn about me.”

“Are you sleeping with him?”

“So what if I am.”

“I’ll kill him. So help me, I’ll kill him.” John Ross goes running out oh her room yelling for Christopher. Chris is sitting in the study with Bobby when John Ross grabs him up, “You bastard. Never enough for you is it. You had to get back in Pamela’s bed didn’t you!”

“What the hell are you talking about,” Chris says.

Pamela standing behind them says, “We didn’t’ sleep together John Ross all I meant is who I sleep with is none of your business.”

John Ross yells, “Hell if it isn’t.”

Pamela says, “It most certainly isn’t!”

John Ross yells at them all, “I’m sick of this family ganging up on me.” Pointing at Bobby, “To save your son’s sorry ass you give away your birthright!” Looking at Chris, “And you don’t’ give a damn about Southfork or Ewing Oil and you never did. You’re happy to walk away from it all.”

Pamela says, “And you never gave a damn about me!”

“That’s not true,” John Ross yells, “I love you! You’re all I want. I don’t want that cheap slut. Do you even have any idea what I got from her from Ryland?”

“I don’t give a damn!” Pamela yells, “And I’m done crying over you. I don’t give a damn what happens to you John Ross!”

John Ross looks stunned.

Bobby says, “See what this has caused John Ross. Is your business worth it? That’s what you have to ask yourself.”

“What the hell are all of you doing in my business anyway,” John Ross says.

“You brought it to us,” Chris says. “Look its not just Cliff we’re dealing with now. He’s convinced Elena that we’re her enemy and she’s taken it upon herself to play hardball. You’re up to your old tricks, ‘get them before they get you.’ Do you what you gotta do John Ross and so will we.”

Chris leaves the room and Pamela follows him.

“Still good for you, making your dad proud. Your father did the same thing, tried to make our father proud with the same bag of dirty tricks. Never did . . . How long you going to stand there? . . .”

John Ross looked at Bobby, tears in his eyes. He turns to walk out of the study to come face to face with Sue Ellen. She slaps him.
