(CNN) -- A former cellist with the rock group Electric Light Orchestra was killed Monday in a car crash involving a large bale of hay in southwestern England, local police said.

Michael Edwards, 62, was killed after a 600-kilogram hay bale (about 1,323 pounds) rolled out of a field and into the path of his van.

Another vehicle also was involved in the crash, but no other injuries were reported, according to Devon and Cornwall police.

The crash closed the road near Halwell in the country's southwestern region.

ELO was formed in Birmingham, England, and enjoyed success in the 1970s with its blend of modern rock, pop and classical music.

Sydney Dalton was a trending topic on Twitter last week thanks to a video clip doing the rounds of the interweb in which the teenager and her two friends celebrate their coming of age by ripping up all their Justin Bieber posters and dumping them in the bin.

Poor Sydney must regret revealing her last name because the clip has gone viral and sparked a flood of angry responses from outraged Beliebers, with some of them even making death threats against the three girls.

Lady Gaga was admitted to hospital six times last year because of her extreme dieting, her former tour manager has claimed.
David Ciemny has said the 'sick' pop star used to binge on junk food and then go on crash diets.
"When I say she was sick, I mean physically and mentally," he is quoted in a new book as saying, the The Daily Mail reports.
In an extreme case, she once lost 9kg after not eating for weeks so that she could squeeze into a stage costume, reports The Daily Mail.
The claims have emerged in a new book called Poker Face: The Rise and Rise of Lady Gaga.
The star's health problems have continued to plague her this year, cancelling four US shows after collapsing and complaining of dizziness and breathing difficulties.
She also revealed in May that she had tested "borderline positive" for lupus, a disease related to the body's immune system.
The book, by Maureen Callahan, also explores Gaga's mental fragility.
Mr Ciemny said Gaga would sometimes share his marital bed for night-time cuddle with wife Angela.
"I would say, 'Gaga, I have a husband to go home to. I'll be in the room next door,'" Mrs Ciemny reportedly says in the book.
"She'd call and text me, 'I miss you Ange, can you come back?' So I would."
Mr Ciemny also claimed that Gaga sacked 150 staff members within 18 months, claiming that they were not up to scratch.

Kanye West says he "bled hard" after infamously snatching an MTV award from Taylor Swift and has even written a song for her to make amends.
The US hip hop artist has unleashed a torrent of emotions on his Twitter account, saying he was wrong to jump up on stage almost a year ago and spoil country music singer Swift's moment as she tried to accept a gong for best female video.
West said he has suffered a lot of pain, including a backlash from fans, since that event.
"People tweeted that they wish I was dead," he said on his official Twitter account.
"No listen. They wanted me to die people. I carry that.
"How deep is the scar ... I bled hard ... cancelled tour with the number one pop star in the world ... closed the doors of my clothing office.
"Had to let employees go... for the first time I felt the impact of my brash actions ... I felt the recession from an ownership side."
He once again apologised to Swift, and says he has written a song for Swift that he hopes she will perform.
"I wrote a song for Taylor Swift that's so beautiful and I want to her to have it," he tweeted.
"If she won't take it then I'll perform it for her."

Lindsay Lohan may have completed her jail time and latest stint in rehab, but Jerry Lewis thinks the Mean Girls star is in need of a more corporal form of punishment.

"I'd smack her in the mouth if I saw her," Lewis said in a interview with Inside Edition. "I would smack her in the mouth and be arrested for abusing a woman!"

The 84-year-old comic said he has no sympathy for troubled young starlets like Lohan and Paris Hilton. "I would say [to Lohan], 'You deserve this and nothing else' ... whack! And then, if she's not satisfied, I'd put her over my knee and spank her!"

Not everyone in Hollywood is clamoring to take a swing at the 24-year-old actress. Former Access Hollywood and Insider host Pat O'Brien wrote an open letter to Lohan in the Sept. 3rd edition of The Hollywood Reporter. In the letter, the 62-year-old TV personality compared Lohan to Grace Kelly and praised her new Vanity Fair cover. He also advised Lohan on how to beat her demons.

"The bad news is that [the demons] never go away: We're wired differently. The good news is that with a certain amount of willingness, structure and personal inventory, those demons can be arrested, " he writes.

O'Brien entered rehab for alcoholism in March 2005 after several sexually explicit voicemails he left for a woman whose identity was never disclosed leaked online. He re-entered rehab in 2008 and soon after exited The Insider. The letter continues, "The ones who survive, like myself so far, are the ones who accept that these are the cards that were handed us and we don't have to always gamble our lives away."

Lohan, O'Brien said, needs to own up to her problems.

"Take a deep breath and look at yourself right now and think how it would be if every day was like this: full of smiles and promises," he writes. "You have to realize that the consequences of denial start to get much more serious than Perez Hilton making fun of you. Sadly, it's well-documented that the consequence waiting for you could be death. To me, it seems an easy choice."

I wouldn't go so far as to say that Lilo needs a snack on the mouth, but she does need a smack of reality. She's lived a charmed life ever since becoming a star. This girl gets whatever she wants, does whatever she wants, and no one says 'no. She's had multiple chances to reinvent herself and curb her bad behavior. The question is, can she do it for good? I read O'Brien's letter and while I don't know a great deal about him as a celebrity, I really enjoyed it. It's truthful, it's what she needs to hear, and I hope that she does turn her life around long enough to be a success.

A US tabloid has discovered that the teenager claimed to be Lindsay Lohan's "secret sister" was legally declared as a real Lohan after a court hearing. The mother of 15-year-old Ashley Horn (see another picture of her here) has been insisting her kid was the product of an affair with Lindsay's dad Michael Lohan for a while now - with Michael allegedly sowing his wild Lohan oats during a break from (now ex-)wife Dina.

Life & Style tracked down Ashley's birth certificate - which clearly states Michael as her father. Now Ashley's mum is seeking 15 years worth of backdated child support. Eek!
"In December 2008 we had a court hearing that Michael was ordered to appear at for the DNA testing," Ashley's mum Kristi told the mag.
Michael failed to show - so the court ruled that Michael's name could be added to the birth certificate.
Sounds too easy? Well, back when we first reported the story in 2008 (when Ashley used her mother's surname, Kaufmann), there was talk of correspondence between Michael and Ashley, including a picture of himself signed, "Love Daddy". Dodge! There was also talk of Ashley recording an album just like Lilo and Ali Lohan. Awesome, huh?

Family ties: Lindsay with dad Michael, and Michael's ex-wife Dina with children Ali and Cody Lohan (eldest son Michael Lohan Jr not in shot) Michael still insists he's not Ashley's father, saying he'd be "glad to take a DNA test," but we dunno... this kid really does look like him!
Despite their court-battling, tabloid-blabbing ways, apparently Ashley doesn't actually want to see her 'dad'. Huh?
"I do not trust him, and I don't want to be around him or part of his life," she saus.
"I could never call Michael Lohan 'Dad.' A dad is a person who is there for you and takes care of you.
"I wanted to help Lindsay in some way, but what was I supposed to do? I don't even know how to contact her."
Somehow we doubt a post-jail, post-rehab Lindsay would be desperate for help from her dad's 15-year-old lovechild...

US reality television star Heidi Montag says she fears her nose will fall off like Michael Jackson's as she faces ongoing recovery from plastic surgery.

Heidi Montag has been living with plaster taped to her nose to keep it in place since having a cosmetic operation in November last year, Life and Style magazine reports.

The 23-year-old told the magazine her long recovery from the operation has crippled her ability to lead a normal life.

"The tape is supposed to keep the swelling down and hold my nose in place the way [the surgeon] sculpted it," she told the magazine.
"I don't want my nose to fall off like Michael Jackson!"

The reality star also said she was struggling to manage her cosmetically-enhanced size G breasts.

Montag said her large bust was "crushing" her and she found it almost impossible to exercise.

"I see so many things that I want to wear and can't, I definitely didn't think about that part when I signed up for the surgery," she said.

How is this the same girl that was bawling in the courtroom the other month? Lindsay Lohan's Grace-Kelly-esque shoot for Vanity Fair has just been released - and she looks fabulous. In an interview that took place a week before her infamous jail sentencing, the 24-year-old set the record straight on a few issues ("I've never abused prescription drugs") and told the mag that she's ready to get stuck back into acting.
"I was irresponsible. And I'm not making excuses," she said. "I want my career back. I know that I'm a damn good actress, and it's been my passion since I was a child, and I know that when I care about something, I put 100 per cent and more into it.
"I'm a completely different person now. And I'm not getting any younger. I want the respect that I had when I was doing great movies. And if that takes not going out to a club at night then so be it. It's not fun anyway. I don't care. It's the same thing every time."

Lindsay says the industry hasn't been too supportive of her attempts to revive her career.
"I have to support myself. I have to pay for my apartment. I have to pay for food. People root for me and say they want me to work, but then everyone is against me," she said, adding that her male peers often match her less-than-exemplary behaviour and "still keep their deals and they still keep their contracts, they still keep their roles, they still get their gigs."
Lindsay pointed out that she never claimed to be a role model. "I've admitted to the things that I've done - to, you know, dabbling in certain things and trying things cause I was young and curious and thought it was like, ok, cause other people were doing it and other people put it in front of me," she said.
"And I see what happened in my life because of it."
She described her wild teens as her 'college years', saying she was experimenting with "certain things that people do ten times more of when they're in college."
She also had some pretty interesting role models. "I would look up to those girls� the Britney's and whatever. And I would be like, I want to be like that," she said.
She accuses her parents - particularly her dad Michael Lohan, of not giving her the structure she needed in her teens.
"I think a lot of it was because when I was doing my first slew of movies, everything was very go-go, and I had a lot of responsibility, and I think just the second I didn't have [structure] anymore - I was 18, 19 with a ton of money.
"I think my biggest focus for myself is learning how to continue to get through the trauma that my father has caused in my life. I think if anyone should be looked at medically it's him. He has such a big chemical imbalance at this point because of all the things he's done to himself."

US rapper 50 Cent is facing a massive backlash on Twitter after calling an airline stewardess a "crazy b----" and posting a picture of her to his three million followers.

It is the latest in a string of offensive Tweets from the rapper � real name Curtis Jackson � who has proved a keen social media user since opening his account last week.
"I'm on a plane [with] this ugly ass stewardess in my face. She keep [sic] asking me if I want ****. I keep telling her no," 50 Cent wrote earlier today onboard a passenger plane.
Roughly three hours later, he uploaded a photo purporting to show the flight attendant.
"This is the crazy looking b---- I was talking about," he wrote.
The posting was quickly slammed by many of his legion of followers, with some saying they would not be surprised if 50 Cent was sued for his actions.
"You know what, you egotistical f---, she's a FLIGHT ATTENDANT, doing her job. Grow up," one person commented.
Said another: "You're a f---ing idiot 50, you rather have her not ask you at all? Shes doing her f---ing job ... SNITCH. "
The incident follows a series of homophobic and sexist comments by 50 Cent, who began posting on Twitter shortly after rival rapper Kanye West joined the site.
In recent postings he talks about seeing a "tall super model giraffe lookin ass b----" and makes a derogatory remark about homosexuals.
50 Cent even received a brief image-posting ban after he uploaded an image of a woman with a giant burger wedged between her buttocks.

Hilton released after cocaine arrest

Paris Hilton has been released after being arrested in Las Vegas when a police motorcycle officer smelled marijuana smoke wafting from a car driven by her boyfriend, then found a small amount of cocaine in her purse.

A crowd quickly gathered when Hilton and Las Vegas nightclub mogul Cy Waits were stopped shortly before midnight on Friday in the vehicle near the Wynn Las Vegas resort, police said.
The 29-year-old celebrity socialite was taken into the hotel "to keep her safe" during the initial investigation, police Lieutenant Wayne Holman said.
Police Officer Marcus Martin said the motorcycle officer pulled the black Cadillac Escalade over on Las Vegas Boulevard after noticing smoke that smelled like marijuana. Police later found a substance in Hilton's purse that tests showed to be cocaine, Martin said. He didn't say how much of the drug was found.
Hilton was arrested on suspicion of felony cocaine possession.
Waits, 34, was arrested on misdemeanor suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Both were booked into the Clark County jail, where Martin said Hilton was released without bail at about 2:45am on Saturday.
Less than an hour later, Hilton's Twitter account was updated with a posting that said the actress was in bed watching the television show Family Guy, and then that she was going to sleep. It was unclear if the tweets came from her, were posted by time-release or were sent by someone else.
If convicted of the low-grade felony, Hilton would get probation. Any violation of probation would be punishable by one to four years in Nevada state prison.
Clark County District Attorney David Roger declined comment on Saturday about the case.
Hilton's attorney, David Chesnoff, told The Associated Press on Saturday morning that he was still gathering facts about the arrest.
"I caution people not to rush to judgment," he said.
Waits' lawyer, Richard Schonfeld, said Waits posted $US2000 ($A2260)bail and was expected to be released on Saturday.
Court appearance dates for Hilton and Waits were not immediately available.
Schonfeld said he was "troubled by the circumstances" leading to the arrest, but declined to specify his concerns.
"As the case proceeds, a lot of facts are going to come to light that will ultimately lead to exoneration," Schonfeld said.
Earlier this week, Hilton was in the news when a 31-year-old man allegedly tried to break into her Los Angeles home.
Authorities have said that someone carrying two big knives banged on Hilton's window on Tuesday. She posted a photo of the arrest on Twitter and described it as "scary". Nathan Lee Parada faces a felony burglary charge.
Hilton was arrested after the Brazil-Netherlands World Cup match in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on suspicion of possession of marijuana. The case was then dropped at a midnight court hearing.
Hilton pleaded no contest in 2007 to alcohol-related reckless driving and was sentenced to 45 days in jail. After spending about 23 days in jail, Hilton told CNN host Larry King that the experience caused her to re-evaluate the role partying played in her life. She said she wanted "to help raise money for kids and for breast cancer and multiple sclerosis".

Pretty fragrant: Sex Pistols unveil punk perfume

LONDON/PARIS (Billboard) - The Sex Pistols' latest attempt to get up people's noses comes in the form of their own branded perfume.

Fragrance launches from music stars like Britney Spears, Sean "Diddy" Combs and Avril Lavigne have become commonplace, but it's still an eyebrow-raising move from the legendary punk band, which has been known for making cash from chaos, not from cologne.

The unisex scent, which comes in a tartan-topped bottle featuring the band's "God Save the Queen" imagery, is a collaboration with Paris-based perfume brand Etat Libre d'Orange, which licensed the Sex Pistols name from the band's merchandising partner, Live Nation Merchandise.

Etat Libre launched the perfume in France in mid-July through an exclusive deal with the Sephora chain of beauty shops, which has 150-plus stores across France. It retails for 40 euros ($51). The scent is expected to launch in the United States September 10, initially in the Henri Bendel store in New York.

Etat Libre CEO Etienne de Swardt says the company also hopes to launch a "Never Mind the Bollocks"-branded soap by year's end and a second Pistols-themed perfume in 2011, subject to the band's agreement.

The group declined requests for comment. But Michael Krassner, executive vice president of worldwide retail and licensing for Live Nation Merchandise, says frontman Johnny Rotten (aka John Lydon) and other band members are "closely involved" with all licensing decisions.

"They know who they are better than we do," Krassner says. "That's difficult (for us) in some respects, as opposed to someone who just approves everything."

Krassner says Pistols-branded merchandise has proved to be a consistent seller, despite lingering resistance from some retailers over the band's name. He cites its January 2010 partnership with skate-wear brand Vans on a Pistols-branded range of shoes, shirts and denim as helping the band reach a younger demographic.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE

The perfume will be far from the only quirky Pistols product on the market. Officially licensed alarm clocks, refrigerator magnets and removable laptop skins are already available, as is virtual Pistols merchandise for characters in the computer game "The Sims."

Many Pistols-branded products are produced by Bath, England-based Half Moon Bay, which says its top-selling Pistols item is a "Never Mind the Bollocks" coffee mug. "The fans are older now and might be less inclined to wear their heart on a sleeve with a T-shirt," Half Moon Bay entertainment brand product manager Rachel Carpenter says.

Krassner says opening up new merchandise revenue streams has become particularly important for heritage acts, as income from recorded-music sales continues to shrink. The Sex Pistols have sold 1.2 million albums in the United States since 1991, according to Nielsen SoundScan, but they've moved just 13,000 albums year to date, compared with 27,000 in full-year 2009 and 35,000 in full-year 2008 (when the band last re-formed for live shows).

Meanwhile, Rotten has proved to be a surprisingly marketable commodity for a man who was once the scourge of proper British society. Butter brand Country Life credited the punk rocker with driving an 85 percent increase in sales in fourth-quarter 2008 when he first appeared in TV spots for the product.

Still, the perfume launch could have a "negative impact on the Pistols' cultural currency," says Snowy Hanbury, joint head of planning at advertising/creative agency Anomaly London, which worked on the recent deal between British band Kasabian and sports brand Umbro for the World Cup.

"The Sex Pistols brand has no tenable association to fragrance," Hanbury says. "As with any brand or celebrity partnership, it's all about relevance and understanding your audience -- I cannot see who the audience is here."

But Half Moon Bay's Carpenter denies that the growing list of Pistols paraphernalia risks creating a stink with the band's fan base.

"Bands are a commercial venture, and licensing is just another extension of that," she says. "With the Sex Pistols, they're doing TV commercials for butter, so I don't really think a mug is selling out."

Regrets � Levi Johnston has barely one to mention. And he's "never lied about anything."

In an interview on CBS' The Early Show, slated to air Friday morning at 7/6c, the 20-year-old father of Bristol Palin's son says he would like to take back something he said to his child's grandmother and the person who previously held the office he's seeking � mayor of Wasilla, Alaska.

"I don't really regret anything," he said. "But the only thing I wish I wouldn't have done is to put out that apology [to Sarah Palin in People Magazine] because it kind of makes me sound like a liar. And I've never lied about anything. So that's probably the only thing. The rest of the stuff I can live with."

Johnston recently announced his campaign for mayor of Wasilla � a position the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate once held � as reports came out that he'd star in a reality show chronicling his race to office and life raising a son.

For his part, Johnston hopes to be a better mayor than Palin was.

"I can't guarantee or promise you anything but I'm [going to] try... That's the goal," he said.

At least this guy is 'trying to be honest'. :S And I can honestly say that I hope he falls on his face and sinks into oblivion.

'Cake Boss' Co-Star Busted for Sex Assault on Minor

TMZ has learned one of the stars of "Cake Boss" has been arrested for sexually assaulting a minor.

According to law enforcement sources Remy Gonzalez is currently being held in Morris County Jail in New Jersey ... he's been there since August 18 when cops arrested him.

Officials tell us Gonzalez -- who is married to "Cake Boss" Buddy Valastro's sister -- is charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, and endangering the welfare of a child. He's being held on $300,000 bail.

A rep for TLC, which airs "Boss" says, "We support Buddy and the Valastro family during this very difficult and challenging time .... and as this doesn't involve us, we will not be commenting any further."

Doesn't sound as if he'll be icing cakes anytime soon.
