Season 4 Pamela Sue Martin's departure

I'm watching Season 4 now, for the first time in several years, and I'm to the point after Fallon's accident. (I'm on the Voice part 3) and Fallon is having another one of her headache.

What I'm wondering is since the episodes were taped so far in advance, When did Pamela Sue Martin decide to leave the show, was it during the taping of season 4 or was it after the taping of the final episode??? I'm just wondering if the headache storyline and her leaving on the wedding was tailor made for her exit, or if it was going to be something to spring into another storyline for Fallon in season 5????

If this has already been discussed I'm sorry, and if it has could you point me to the thread........

Don't want everyone to get TOO excited, but this is the first of a series of thread I'm going to post about Episode Titles! The episode titles of Season 9 are so tongue in cheek bordering on irony (unusual for a US Soap) and are indicative of the style of that season. Has anyone else noticed? Possibly the only other season which comes near is Season 5. Check it out

Is there a chance of seeing a release of season 6 in 2010? more than likely will it be 2011?

Strange season 5 has not even been released in the US?

Do you think this is the end of the releases?

I certainly hope not....

Dynasty one show or in reality four shows with one Name???

Hi its me again...........

Okay this time as I watch Dynasty I'm a little older (35) so I'm noticing things a little differently. I'm not a smart sophisticated man, I just know what I like and what I don't and thats the way it is, I don't have any special incite just questions...

One is when I watch the show I know its all Dynasty but now it seems like four different shows pieced together... Season 1 one show, Season 2 another, season 3-8 another and finally season 9 the last for example,

Season one was nice not very high in the ratings but I think it worked some what...

It started out at least my take on the rich and the poor, (Very much like Dallas) with the rich being the Carrington's and the Colby's, the poor being Krystle, The Blaisdells and Walter Lankersham.... It also seemed more grounded not in reality but it seemed more real than later seasons, but ABC, The writers or the audience thought it needed something so characters were dropped, and story-lines changes and next

Another show starts with season 2 and I rather liked it and as the season went on it I really didn't notice the differences. it changes from the class struggle of season before and seemed to change to Krystle vs the former Mrs Carrington, her household and Fallon, but the class struggle was gone. I also liked Alexis in this season more than later on...

But with the start of season 3-8 was when Dynasty became over the top, lets see what cloths, style and stars we can toss at the audience and they might just eat it up, (and i agree we ate it up, but once they went over the top at least I think the story suffered.)

Then we get splendid season 9 where I think Dynasty found itself and was a cross between the good season 1 and the even better season 2. I did miss Krystle and Alexis that season but I found myself wanting to watch more and more, but it didn't seem to click with the audience and the ratings didn't recover, Why was it too little to late? or did ABC kill it???

so what do some of you think did it seem like four different shows or am I just crazy????

Kirby, sweet mousy downstairs girl, or scheming social climber?????

So as I"m watching Dynasty I'm seeing characters in a different light. One being Kirby Anders Colby.

When watching Dynasty in the past I saw Kirby as being a sweet but mousy girl who was born in the downstairs world, but grew up to marry into the upstairs life..

However this past watching of Dynasty I've noticed several things. One she seems to come back to Denver disgraced from her married boyfriend in Europe, to be a nurse maid to Little Blake Carrington. But she seems shady, she knows that Jeff and Fallon are having problems but she goes after yet another Married man, she's shady with Fallon and then later with Jeff, all to get her hands on Jeff and to finally be the upstairs woman she's always craved...........

Also I've noticed a couple of things... I always thought Adam raped Kirby, but watching this last time He was very rough with her that night in Alexis's penthouse, but right after and several times during season 3 she says that she was upset drunk and she never should have given herself to Adam, but in Season 4 all of a sudden its rape???? Like i said I always thought it was rape, but I think the writers changed it form rough sex to rape in season 4..

Also another thing I noticed was that When Adam talks to Blake and admits he raped Kirby, Blake gets upset and says that Adam isn't a man and should be horse whipped, but he seems to forget that he raped Krystle in season one, I love Blake but some times he can be a hopycrite....

Last after Kirby decides to marry Adam and raise their baby together, she loses the Baby, decides to kill Alexis and then leaves Denver for good.... Now I never like the Character, but like in my other post so many people come and go this season, why???

What was behind all of the additions and departures????

Any thoughts????????????

I've just recently started re-watching Dynasty from the beginning, and I'm about half way through season 4, I've got several things on my mind, so I'm probably going to post several things tonight so be patient with me.....

One thing I've noticed is that at least with season 4 is that their seemed to be a revolving door of characters come and go, and others that they seemed to lose steam half way though the season, and then others they seemed to forget how to write for....

One of those characters was Tracy Kendal, portrayed by Deborah Adair. I really felt that this character had great potential in the beginning, but the writers seemed to fizzle with her character midway through the season. She goes from wanting a high position in the Public Relations department, to wanting Blake Carrington, and then finally to wanting to be the next Alexis Carrington to floating away from Denver....

When first watching the season is seems she's destined to have a relationship with Adam and I think they missed the boat with that. She and Adam were one and the same each wanting more than the have, and they could have had a great run each using the other for what they want...........

I don't know I just feel that she was a wasted character and I thought that Deborah Adair was a good actress, does anyone know if her character didn't click, did she have a one season contract???

Also the change with Mark Jennings, he was a big part of season 3 and fizzled out in season 4 and then is murdered....

Any thoughts????????????????

Kirby's Mother and Interracial relations on Dynasty

I came across this really interesting interview with Kathleen Beller and why she was dropped from Dynasty

Apparently when Diahann Carroll joined she was supposed to be Kirby's mother, and Diahann and Kathleen even had lunch to discuss the impact of an interracial affair. This storyline was dropped when the Pollocks left as head writers and Camille Marchetta too over, in favour of casting big stars. So Kirby was out and Kathleen's contract wasn't renewed.

Would this storyline have been more effective than making Diahann Blake's half sister and live in personal bank manager?

Was a mixed race child such a big deal for 1984 America? The British soaps regularly had mixed affairs/marriages, but I guess we're talking about the impact on Middle America?

Character actor George DiCenzo,who portrayed prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi in "Helter Skelter," died Aug. 9 in Newtown, Pa. He was 70 and had been in failing health since a near-fatal car accident a few years back.

Sorry, I just heard about the passing of George DiCenzo today.

The only direct link between He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and Dynasty is actor George DiCenzo. In the first season of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, George DiCenzo played the voice of Lord Taran in the episode "The Sleepers Awaken" and the voice of Garth in the episode "Eye of the Beholder." Both episodes first aired in November of 1983. George DiCenzo would then appear in nine episodes of the fifth season of Dynasty as Charles Dalton, the manager of the holdings of businessman and owner of the Delta Rho Farms and Stables, Daniel Reece, played by Rock Hudson. The nine episodes of Dynasty that George DiCenzo appeared in between December of 1984 and May of 1985 were "That Holiday Spirit," "The Avenger," "The Treasure," "Foreign Relations," "Triangles," "The Ball," "Circumstantial Evidence," "The Crash" and "The Heiress." Between 1985 and 1987 George DiCenzo played the voices of Hordak, Bow and Sea Hawk on the She-Ra: Princess of Power cartoon series. Well, I'm having too much fun using google newspaper search. There are tons of old newspaper articles about Dynasty and its Stars. The good, the bad, the ugly, and sometimes the very bizarre, I find it all fascinating as to what was being said back in the day.

To start, here are some articles from 1981, when Dynasty began its nine year run. Reviews for the three hour pilot episode. Pretty much the same review, with bits added/subtracted depending on the paper.

What if everyone died in Moldavia?

Had Moldavia lived up to it's hype and let's say everyone in attendance especially the Carringtons died

The only ones not involved in the storyline were
Fallon & Sammy Jo and the children

Let's think of the possibilities we have here so Fallon, Sammy Jo and the children are the only Carringtons left
The Colbys take the Carringtons place instead of a spinoff the action is moved to California to feature this new family

Fallon learns of her family's demise and us devastated
Sammy Jo inherits money from Krystle and Daniel Reece
And gains custody of Danny while LB obviously goes to Fallon, Krystina is at the centre of a custody battle between Fallon/Miles and Sammy Jo

Sable/Jason are the new Blake/Krystle but with more fire and passion Frankie is the new bitch as she was anyway

This fir me would've Been a great reboot to the series
I know that in reality it wouldn't have happened this way but I can see it working
At least we could have the weight of Charton Heston, Sr
Stephanie Beacham and Katherine Ross and A possible love triangle between Fallon/Miles/Sammie Jo
