Does anyone know when the next season being released ?

I've been a fan of Prison Break for quite a while and have just finished the whole series for the third time.
I'm struggling with The Shield and am not sure whether I will continue it, so I need a new show to ignite my interest.

So:

Is 24 worth getting into? Should I just rent the first season to start with and see where it takes me?

Any info/opinions are welcome
